Captain Dan McGivney reports:
Tony Glover and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Stopping at the Mud Bouy we had the Bluefish right a way and filling a cooler. Around 10:00 Am the bite slowed up with only boating a few more until 11:30 we decided to give the Fluking a try. Only catching one keeper and a few shorts in the ocean,we tried the river on the way in, to our surprise we put six keepers in the boat as well as releasing a few more shorts. Still have a couple open dates in August , cal Capt Dan @732-899-5309.

Gene Hecht and crew from Hecht plumbing were out for a day of bluefishing. If reports coming from the day prior, we headed 25 miles to the NE and anchored up. We had a slow pick of bluefish from 5 to 10lbs in very rough conditions. With the wind blowing up to 25 knts out of the SE made for a long rough ride home. Enough fish were caught for the ones that stayed fishing. Still have some weekend dates available for the end of July and August call Capt. Dan at 732-899-5309 for available dates.

Al Schrader and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bluefishing. Stopping at the rocks it was slow as we only had a few hits, so we switched over to trolling to catch a few blues. Switched over to fluke fishing in 35ft of water and it was steady action with many shorts and enough keepers for everyone. A beautiful day in the water.

Lou Forenzi and crew from Hinkel's and McCoy's were aboard the Megan Beth on Saturday 7/07/07. Stopping outside the inlet we found the bunker an snagged a few,but no striped bass were interested in the offerings. Heading off to the NE about 14 miles we anchored and had a steady pick of bluefish all morning,the water was clean and the bluefish were leader shy. Filling a cooler at noon we switched over to fluke fishing and boated a few keepers as well as 15 shorts before heading in. Great day on the water. Still have a couple openings on the weekends the end of July and August,call 732-899-5309 for available dates.

John Mackston and crew from Bridgewater Volvo were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue fishing.With the wind blowing and the tide against it ,conditions were tough to say the least. Sticking it out we had a pick of fish all day as the lines were under the boat or up to the anchor all day.Filling one cooler all the rest of the fish caught were released. For the ride home the wind droped out and the seas layed down for a nice ride home.

Paul Gottlick family and freinds were aboard the Megan Beth for a combo Blues and Fluke trip. Stopping at the Farms ,It was non stop action with blues from 3-12 lbs. Filling a cooler we the switched over to Fluke where we had slow action with a dozen shorts and 4 keepers as well as ton of Skates. All and all a great day on the water.

Non stop action all day today for the Tony Glover group. Fished the farms and it was non stop action on blues to 8 lbs,by 10:30 Am coolers were loaded and then switched over to Fluke fishing, catching around 100 shorts we managed 12 keepers up to 4.5 lbs.

Had an excellent crew aboard the Megan Beth today for the Mako Mania Tournament. We made a long run to the SE and found green water but there were a few sharks there. We caught a 125 lb Mako as well as a large blueshark, not nearly enough for the money but we had a great time trying.

6/17/07 Captain Dan McGivney reports: Tim Barret and crew were aboard the Megan Beth. Started out Fluke fishing with very slow results ,plenty of shorts and a ton of skates.Went to the farms and started chumming and with in minutes we had non stop action on blues until the coolers were full.Still have a couple weekend days in July call 732-899-5309.

6/9/07 Captain Dan McGivney reports: Tony Glover and crew were aboard the Megan Beth ,stopping on several wrecks it was a slow pick on all of them as the bottom temp is still cold. Dog fish were not too bad but are still there and a nuissance.Switching over to Fluke we had six keepers and a dozen shorts with only fishing an hour before the wind picked up. 6/3/07 Captain Dan McGivney reports: Jeff Bowen and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of sea Bass fishing.With a hard SE wind the night before chilled the water enough,that the Sea bass had lock jaw.Stopping on six different pieces we had a half a dozen fish on each drop. Oh and yes we caught our fair share of the endangered dogfish.A couple of ling and some small blackfish as well.

Darren with the Munsen Enginering group were aboard the Megan Beth For a day of Bass and Blues. Trolling at the rocks produced 3 bass @16lbs . By 11:00 Am we went to the farms and chummed as maany bluefish as you wanted. filling the cooler we had 3 nice bass and a load of bluefish on ice. Nice day on the water as no wind and 65 degree temps made a great day.

Started out wreck fishing today and only catching a couple Sea bass and some throw backs ,we got a call from Capt Tom Savastano as he was in to some good Striped bass fishing. Moving into the beach there were pods of bunker all over the place. Working the small pods we boated 7 Bass from 20 to 30 lbs. Great day on the water.

Lou Forenzi abd crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bluefishing. Stopping at the Mud Bouy it was a very slow bite. By 11:30am we moved over to 17 fathoms. It was slow there as well untill 1:00 Pm the fished turned on and we caught our limit in the last hour. Left them biting and we read fish from top to bottom.

Marty Scholin was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bottom. Stopping off Mantoloking ,we gave it a try for fluke. Catching one keeper and a lot of sea robbins we headed off to a wreck. It was non stop action as we boated over 75 keeper sea bass and releasing about twice that amount. We also caught another fluke as well as porgies and some small bluefish, Beautiful day on the water.

Jay Freas and party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stopping at the reef we fished for Fluke for a couple of hours. Catching two keepers and two shorts we went to wreck fishing . Stopping on two pieces we had tons of small fish and kept 27 nice Sea Bass up to 4 lbs.

Tony Glover and friends were abord the Megan Beth for a day of Blue fishing. The day prior the fish bit well . Today was a different story. With no tide moving and a large swell from the south, then the lines went right to the bow. Catching a handfull of fish we had to go to no wire as the fish were shy. Switching over to Fluke it was the same story lots of shorts and a few keepers.

Rick Colonna and co-workers wit Arizonna beverage wer aboard the Megan Beth. Fishing the reef we caught 15 keepers and about 70 throw backs. When the wind died out we went inshore in 45 feet of water and caught plenty of shorts and a few keepers.

Larry Longo,family and freinds fish aboard the Megan Beth. Early in the morning as the wind was still blowing NE we needed 10 to 12 oz to hold bottm. As the day went on we were down to 4 oz. Catching about a 100 Fluke we managed to catch 12 keepers up to 3 lbs.

Ed Feeney,Brian Rieken and family were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bluefishing. Stopping at the rocks it was non stop action on blues. The arms were tired by 10:30 AM so we switched over to Fluke catching 30 fish with 4 keepers. Great day on the water with a light north wind.

The Megan Beth was back up to the farms with Tom Joyce and family for a day of bluefishing. A large ground swell from the storms the night before laid down as the day went on. Bluefishing was ok but the bite was not as strong as the day prior. Filling the cooler and a lot of tired arms ,Kevin age 14 was high hook and the largest fish around 10lbs.

Vincent and Carmen brothers and family were aboard the Megan Beth. Seopping at the farms it was a slow pick till the tide started moving then it was non stop action on Blues. Filling two coolers we were on our way home as the seas were picking up. Carmen was the high hook with 22 bluefish.

Barry Wiwigac and family were aboard the Megan beth for a day of Fluke fishing. First stopping on some bunker schools we had plenty of bunker but no bass under them. Fishing numerous spots we managed 8 keeper fluke and about 75 shorts.

Steve Evanski was aborad the Megan Beth for a day of Blue Fishing. Stopping 13 miles East of Manasquan we were able to drift as the Ocean was calm. We picked Bluefish all day. Filling two coolers we were on are way home. Beautiful day on the water.

It was a slow pick of Sea Bass to 4 Lbs for the Jeff Bowen party aboard the Megan Beth,Stopping on three different wrecks we picked Sea Bass on all as well as a few ling. Good news no Dog fish.

Paul Gottlick and friends fished aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue Fishing. Stopping at the Farms we had non stop action on blues to 10lbs. Limiting out by 10:00 AM we switched over to Fluke.Catching around 60 fish but only 5 were keepers . Great day on the water.

Captain Dan and Mate Russ took the families out for a day of Fluke fishing. With only a couple of shorts and some skates and sand sharks, Then the bunker showed up with the large bass chasing them. Live lining bunker we boated six Bass between 25 and 35 lbs before calling it a day, We left the fish biting for another day. Great day on the water..

Steve Evanski was aboard the Megan Beth for a fathers day trip. Heading 15 miles to the NE.,it was non stop action of Bluefish . Filling the cooolers by 11AM we then switched over to some Fluke fishing to finish up the day. Once again a lot of shorts but no keepers to be had.

The Dave Tranchera party was aboard thr Megan Beth for a day of Fluke fishing. Catching about 60 Fluke but only 6 were keepers. Stopping on some working birds produced a dozen blue fish as well. Could not fish in the deeper water as the dog fish would attack you.

What was suppose to be a Sea Bass trip for Tony Glover and crew, Stopping on three wrecks that were loaded with dogfish we were only able to catch a few Sea Bass and some ling as well as a couple short blackfish The wind picked up to 25 knots so we headed to the beach to fluke fish . Catching around 40 fluke that were around 15 to 16 inches we did manage to catch a 1/2 a dozen keepers. Hopefully the Dog fish will move off as the water warms up.

Lou Forenzi and Jo Jo were aboard the Megan Beth . Trolling spoons off of deal produced only blue fish in the morning.Heading north off of Long Branch,jigging only produced more bluefish for us. Heading back down south and stopping on some readings we boated 5 nice bass up to 20 lbs before heading home. By days end the cooler was full of blues and bass.

Tony Glover and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bass fishing. Stopping on some readings 11 miles north of thr inlet thr first fish was a 17 lb bass. At first we trolled the rigs but the blue fish destroyed them.Switching over to the spoons we had a steady pick of bass and blues and by days end the cooler was full.

2005 Fishing Reports


10/2-3/05
Captain Dan McGivney reports:
The Dave Barbra and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for an overnight trip to the Hudson canyon. Trolling up one Longfin on the west wall before setting up on the East for the night. We only had one hit at night which was a Yellowfin that was boated. All night there was plenty of Squid . Porpoise were around the boat all night. The morning troll was uneventfull,adding three Mahi to the cooler.

Captain Dan McGivney reports:
It was non stop action for the Steve Evanski party with Blue fish at the Mud Bouy aboard the Megan Beth. With a swell left over of 4 to 5 ft it turned out to be a nice day as the wind died out and a afternoon sea breeze of 10 knots. Fish were mixed in size as we had fish from 3 lbs up to 14 lb pool winner. Heading home early as the coolers were full and arms were tired of cranking in the big Blues.

Marty and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bottom fishing. Stopping off of Ortley beach in 40 foot of water only produced a few shorts and sand sharks. Heading offshore to a couple of Wrecks we had a dozen Fluke mostly 4 to 5 lbs as well as a nice catch of Sea Bass as the fluke were tight to the wrecks.

Mike Johnson and friends were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing . Getting a late start we were the last boat to arrive in the fleet that day. with a nice NE wind. As soon as we arrived it was non stop action and filling the coolers with plenty of Blues.As the day went on the wind dropped out and the ocean was flat for the ride home.

Jeff Walsh and family and friends were aboard the Megan Beth for a first time blue fish trip. Stopping out side the inlet we jigged a few fish before heading out to the Farms for a steady pick of blues. Unlike the day prior the fish were not leader shy and they caught all the could handle.Keeping a cooler of fish we released from 10:00 AM to days end.

Captain Dan McGivney reports:
John McCormick were aboard the Megan Beth, stopping at the Mud Bouy we had a very slow pick of blues as they were leader shy and wouold not hit the baits with wire. Using mono they bit and we lost quite a few as well. Stopping at the Farms we had the same bite as they would not bite on wire leaders. We headed home with one cooler of blues on ice.

Captain Dan McGivney reports:
Ted and Steve Lessel and friends were aboard the Megan Beth for an overnight canyon trip. Heading out in a large ground swell,we started on the flats of the Toms canyon and with in forty five minutes we had boated and released a white Marlin around 50 lbs. There was so much weed we were not able to keep the lines in the water so we settled in for the night down on the west wall. With plenty of squid and bait by nights end we had 15 Yellowfin on Ice. Part of the problem were brown sharks chasing the Tuna and biting them on the way up/catching two and many break offs the sharks were a nuissance all night.

Mike Woytach and friends were aboard the Megan Beth as first time ocean fisherman. One they got the hang of setting up on Bluefish the group of four proceeded to fill the coolers.The fish bit the wire lines and were not leader shy as they have been the past several days.

Lou Forenzi and crew headed up to the Mud Bouy aboard the Megan Beth. Startimg out with slow pick on the west side we moved over to the East and had a steady pick of fish up to 10 lbs. Stopping off of Momonth Beach and Deal we put a few keeper Fluke and Sea Bass in the boat along with a lot of shorts.

Wind was blowing hard out of the south and the bites were slow . Stopping on the reef we had a few fish before heading down south and caught a few more . The swell has started a conditions were tough.

Larry Lomgo and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Fluke fishing . Heading down off seaside we finished up with 16 keepers and twice as many throw backs. Conditions were tough as the wind and tide picked up and managed to hold bottom with 12 to 16oz by days end.

Lou Forenzi and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Heading to the Farms it was non stop action for three hours filling the coolers before switching over to Fluke.Flukeing was on the slow side catching 6 keepers plenty of shorts and lots of skates.

Jay Freas and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Fluke fishing. Heading up to the north of Manasquan we stopped in 35 foot of water but the larger % of Keepers were in 50' of water . Finished the day with 15 keeper Fluke wih a few keeper Sea Bass, one weighing 3 lbs. Lot of short Sea Bass as well as short Fluke.

Steve Evanski charter was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of BlueFishing. Heading out in heavy rain we went back to the same area as the day prior . After we got started the showers and storms went by us and the crew poroceeded to fill the coolers with Bluefish and called it an early day.

Al Schrader and friends were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Heading up to the Farms we started catching fish 5 minutes after the chum bucket was over the side, Filling the cooler we were in release mode by 9:00AM and a lot of tired arms we switched over to Fluke by 10:00 AM in 45 foot of water. Caching a bunch of shorts we only brought back a few keeper Fluke.

Scott Wardrop and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue Fishing. Heading out the inlet the wind was blowing 15 to 20 out of the NE.Decided to head to the rocks . In very rough conditions we had no bites at all in the first two hrs. Heading off shore we had two fish on the second drop. Thanks to Capt John on the Queen Mary who gave us a call and we went a few miles off and we bailed the bluefish for two hrs. Filling the coolers we were getting ready to leave and a Blue Shark came up to the boat which was caught and released, a poor start to the day finished up well.

Paul Gottlick and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing.Heading 15 miles NE of Manasquan we anchored in 105 ft of water. As soon as the chum sent was out in the water we had our first bluefish on .Filling a cooler and a half as we called it a day as the wind was out of the NE and the team had enough. Only two dog fish were caught as I hope we have seen the last of them for the season.

After a slow weekend of bottom fishing we tried 5 different wrecks SE of Manasquan. We had a slow pick on every drop but were forced to move as the dog fish were on evry spot today.Hopefully the water will warm up a little warm and the dog fish will head offshore.I wish they would open up the commercial fishing for them again.

Chuck Hayes and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. In the river we had water temperture of 74 degrees and as soon as we got outside the inlet the temperature dropped to 53 degrees.Stopping on 5 different wrecks we only had a slow pick of Sea Bass. >We need a change in wind direction to improve the bite.

Dave Barbra and crew from Pompton Plains NJ were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing.Stopping on four different pieces 6 miles east of Manasquan. It was a steady pick of Sea Bass as by days end we filled the cooler and topping the catch with 6 keeper Blackfish as well as a few porgies.

Lou Forinza and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Striped Bass fishing. Heading north, there were tons of bluefish but the bass were mixed in. We boated five bass in the twenty pound class and had too many bluefish to count. A beautiful day topped off a good day of fishing!

Joe Hawks and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stopping on three pieces, we filled the cooler with good size sea bass. One of the wrecks we left, due to the spiny dog fish were unbearable. We also had a dozen black fish but all were too small and had to be put back.

Captain Dan McGivney reports:
Capt Dan had a group out from Munson Engineering aboard the Megan Beth.Stopping short of Sandy Hook we trolled for a couple hours and had a 20 lb Bass as soon as we put the spoons on. Could not fish with the shads as the Blue fish were so thick they destroyed the rigs. As the bite slowed up we went up to Raritan Bay and we clamed for an hour before heading home in 8 foot seas as it was a horrible ride home.

Capt Dan and friends made a trip up to Raritan Bay. One stop on the outside produced one fish at 32 inches that was released. Moving up inside we had a slow pick of bass,boating three keepers out of a dozen and catching some blue fish that will make some nice shark baits.

The Mike Johnson and group were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Heading to the Farms we read fish right a way and as soon as the anchor came tight we had fish on til the time it was to go home.Filling two coolers then we released fish for a while.

The Jim Lawson group from Columbus Ohio were aboard the Megan Beth for the twice a year Sea Bass marathon.Stopping on two wrecks SE of Manasquan we had a limit catch of Sea Bass up to 3.45lbs.Also to spice the catch we had a few Blue fish,porgies,a short black fish and a short Fluke.

The Steve Evanski party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Tuna fishing. We trolled for miles with out a touch in beautiful clean water. Setting up on the chunk on the ledge only produced a couple of Dog fish and a few bite offs ( bluefish). Back on the troll we had a falxe Albocore,

The Tony Russo group was aboard the Megan Beth for a combo of Blue fish and Sea Bass. Heading out 6 miles where bluefish wer caught earlier in the week there were no signs of life.We headed up to the farms and we had fish once the anchor came tight. We had a steady pick of Blues the we stoped and caught a few Sea Bass on the way home.

Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
Steve Lowe and freinds were aboard the Megan Beth . Heading off to the Glory Hole we managed to catch and release 6 Bluefin tuna @26 inch as well as False Albacore and Skip Jack Tuna. At Noon time we stopped and chummed for Sharks Catching and rerleasing a small Mako and Dropping a larger one as the larger one just mouthed the bait. All and all a get day on the water.

The Dave Trancherra group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day that was suppose to be for inshore Tuna. Heading out the inlet the wind was blowing 19 knots out of the NE and the seas were 6 foot and close together. We turned inshore and headed to the rocks for bluefish.Stopping at the rocks with no readimgs we headed off to the Mud after a call from Mike Kelly on the Players. Fishing was non stop and we filled two coolers before heading home.

Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
The Mike Jonston group was aboard the Megan Beth which was suppose to be an overnight Canyon trip,with a so,so forcast and two days of poor fishing we went to the Glory Hole and trolled for a few hours with not a touch. Setting up with shark rigs we drifted til dark an had 3 Mako's all released .The heaviest weighing about 75 lbs.

The Vinny Libero group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing.Stopping at the farms and looking it over we did not read much ,we then ran up to 17 fathoms and it was non stop action once the chum started to work. Filling the cooler we stoped at a couple spots and managed a few Fluke before heading home for the day.

Paul Gottlick and crew from Colonia NJ were aboard the Megan Beth.Getting about two miles off on our way to the Farms we turned in and headed up to the rocks as the wind was blowing out of the NE and the further we went off the rougher it got. Plenty of fish on the rocks but we had a slow period as the tide droped out and the lines went to the bottom. Stopping on the way home for some fluke produced 4 keepers and a few shorts as there was no drift in the afternoon.

The Larry Longo group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Fluke Fishing in the JCSA tournament. With South wind blowing at 20 knots we managed to catch 18 keepers before the wind came up to 25 knots.The largest fish weighed in at 5.8lbs but not big enough to place in the tournamentFishing in the river produced 12 shorts and one keeper.

The Bill Hrynkiewicz and group from Gusmer Manufacturing was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bluefishing. Stopping at the farms it was a nonstop bite with bluefish. By 11:00 am there was a lot of tired arms so we switched over to fluke and kept a dozen fish by days end the largest Fluke was a 5lb and the largest Bluefish was 12lb.

The Adam Sidle and group from Roslyn PA were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing.There was a window of weather as perdicted as the Seas were flat except for a little swell.Stopping at the Farms we started out slow as there was no tide at all and baits were going straight down.As we were ready to move we started catching and the bite never stopped as we filled the coolers with 8 to 10 lb blues the released some.

The Dave Sias was aboard the Megan Beth which was suppose to be a day of Fluke fishing. With the Wind blowing out of the South for three days and blowing 20 knots we were not able to hold bottom with 10oz of weight.Swithing over to Sea Bass we stopped on four different wrecks to put a catch of some Sea bass up to 2.5lbs.

The Rich Krawic party from Paterson NJ was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Fluke fishing. From the time the first line hit the bottom till the time we headed home it was a steady pick of Fluke to 8.2lbs with a nice 15 to 20 knot NW wind. We ended the day early with a good catch of Fluke with the top two weighed in at 6.25lbs and 8.2 lbs.

The Jay Freas group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Fluke fishing. Heading south in the morning produced no Fluke in the first three drifts. Getting a call from Capt. Bill on the Flim Flam we headed north Stoppimg 3 miles North of Manasquan we had a stedy pick of Fluke up to 3lbs before the wind picked up to over 20 knots and were not able to hold bottom with 10 oz and we called it a day.

It was non-Stop action for the Steve Evanski charter aboard the Megan Beth.Leaving a little earlier then normal to beat the rainy forcast we headed out @6:30 AM in dense fog. Going right back to the #'s from the day prior it only took 5 minutes to get the fish to bite behind the boat Filling the coolers by 10:30 we released fish for another hour and headed back in early in order to beat the weather that never happened as the Seas were calm and the Sun came out for a short time.

The Al Schrader Group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue Fishing. Heading back to the Farms we were off to a slow start with no tide but heavy chunking payed off as we started the fish and then it was non Stop. Catching our limit of Blues the tired group head back in early.

The Lou Forenzi party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue fishing.Heading out the inlet at 7:00 am there was a few small bluefish chasing rainfish along the beach.Catching a few we decided to head up the beach and look at the rocks to see if we could chum some fish, not reading much we started to head up by the Mud Bouy where we finished up the day before . Just East of the rocks we read a big school of fish. Moving twice and making two long drifts we limited out on Blue fish up to 10 lbs. It could not have been a nicer day for bluefishing.

Brad Kooker and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bottom fishing. Stopping on four different wrecks where we had Dog fish on all ,it was a very slow bite of Sea Bass. Also catching ling, and some small Blackfish.I think the Dog fish are so thick that the Sea bass are afraid to bite.

The Tony Russo and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stopping on two spots we had a steady pick of Sea Bass all day,by days end we had about 100 nice keeper Sea bass. Also caught and released were some small Blackfish,Pollack,Cod and Ling. The Dog fish were not too bad where we fished today.

The Jim Lawson group from Ohio was aboard the Megan Beth for a two day Sea Bass Trip. On Monday we had a slow pick up sea bass on all four wrecks we fished in 75 ' of water. By days end we had put a good catch together. Mixed in with the Sea Bass were alot of throw back Pollack as wll as some Cod fish.On Tuesday we headed out to the East about 8 miles and the first drop was the best of the day catching a good number of keeper Sea bass. As the wind picked up out of the South the pick droped off,but once again a good catch of Sea Bass was caught.A few small Blackfish as well as Pollack,Cod,ling were caught as well.

The Dan Clayton crew was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Striped Bass fishing. Heading South of the Manasquan Inlet we found some bird life 5 miles south. Trolling in 40-60 foot of water we caught 12 Striped Bass, keeping 3 and releasing the rest along with a half a dozen Bluefish

The Jim Cunningham group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Striped Bass fishing. Brian Cunningham (age 7) was out for his first fishing trip by boat. Brian catching and releasing his first Striped Bass as well as his first Bluefish. Catching and releasing many short Striped Bass we did keep 3 fish that were legal. Also releasing all but 3 bluefish. While jigging off of Deal we also caught a half dozen Sea Bass and Porgies.

The Megan Beth was in the JCSA Striped Bass Tournament. We went up in the bay as the Bluefish were so thick along the beach you would not be able to get through them.Cathing over 40 Bass we only kept 6 as there were a lot of small fish . The largest one we kept was 10 lbs. All different color shads worked as no one golor caught the fish. Conditions were tough as the wind was blowing 25 with gust up to 30.

Lou Forenzi and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing.Having a good catch of Sea Bass there were many small fish you had to pick through. About 60/40 shorts to keepers. Alot of nice size Porgies still around and we also caught a Trigger fish. On the way in we jigged a few blue fish a mile from the inlet.

Scott and crew from Wycoff NJ fished aboard the Megan Beth for Bluefish. Heading South of Manasquan we found plenty of bird life as there was tons of bait. The wind was blowing hard out of the South as the Seas were building all day.We did manage a few fish on jigs before switching over to Sea Bass as we had a good catch ,as well as a few porgies. It was non stop action with many short Sea Bass.

The Nathan Kearns group from Ohio was in to fish the Megan Beth for a two day Sea Bass marathon. Limit catches on both days of Sea Bass were had as well as a good number of Porgies. Spicing the catch on the first day were some large Trigger Fish as well as a couple small Bluefish. On the second day stopping on some local wrecks, we managed a few Croakers, Weakfish, and Bluefish.

Jeff Bowen and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of bottom fishing. Stopping on four different wrecks we picked Sea Bass on all spots along with some Porgies. Many of the fish were small but we did manage to catch a good number of Sea Bass and Porgies. Jeff Bowen won the pool with a 8 pound Bluefish.

By late Friday night small craft warnings were up so we decided to go Blue fishing inshore instead.We were on our way to the Farms but the seas were building up and 8 foot in the stong SE wind. We ended up at the Rocks with a very slow pick of Bluefish, as there was no tide at all.

The Dave Trancher party was aboard the Megan Beth that was suppose to be a day of Tuna Fishing.Getting 5 miles off and the seas building up we changed our plans and headed to the Rocks for Bluefish.Upon getting there the Bluefish bit well as the tide was moving.Filling the cooler . As the tide stopped the fish stopped biting as well.We did catch a Fluke 8.85lbs on a bluefish rig as the bait settled to the bottom.

After having a tough day with the Bluefish the day prior .The Joe Poli group aboard the Megan Beth decided to go sea Bass Fishing. Stopping on a local wreck we picked away bewfore the tide swung us off a small piece.Stopping aff Ortly beach we drifted and caught one keeper Fluke with plenty of skates and shorts. Heading to a wreck 13 miles to the SE we finished the day ,having a good catch of Sea Bass up to 4lbs.

After hearing of good reports the day prior at the Farms the Lou Forenzi party headed there for a day of Blue fishing aboard the Megan Beth.Reading plenty of fish but the Bluefish did not want to bite,After chumming and chunking for two hours we only had one hit. Heading to the Rocks we chummed for another hour before switching over to Fluke. Cathing a few throw backs and a few keeper Sea Bass we headed in early as the Seas picked up. Hope the Bluefish turn back on..

Captain Phil Dulanie and mates Mike Zajac and Justin Nighan had the Richard Steer charter from Greenwich, Conn out on the Canyon Runner Monday to Tuesday and was back out at the Hudson Canyon and on the anchor by 7pm. Waiting for an early bite that didn’t come made the crew think that they should have went back down south but a flurry from 3am-5am changed that as the charter went 10 for 12 on 50-60 pound yellowfin. Up on the troll in the morning for only a couple of hours they went 1 for 2 putting a 70 pounder yellowfin in the boat. They anchored in 550 feet of water on the west wall and picked up most of the tuna on the chunk on squid.

The Thomas Walker crew was aboard the Megan Beth for an over night canyon trip. Heading out 20 miles with the wind blowing 20 knots, we decided to troll the Mud Hole to the Glory Hole, catching only one Bluefish and a small Skipjack. The wind died off so we decided to head off to the Toms Canyon. Upon getting there, we trolled for a couple of hours only catching a few more Skipjacks. With the help of the EL-Maria from Little Egg as there was only 3 boats there for the Evening. As soon as we settled in for the evening, the wind picked up to 25 knots. By 10 p.m, the winds were gusting to 35 knots with 8-10 ft seas. During the coarse of the night, we went 3 for 4 on Yellowfin Tuna up to 60 lbs. As soon as day light came we headed back in the 8-10 ft seas,as it was a 7 hour ride home as we were only able to do 10 knots for the first 50 miles. The weather men were wrong once again.

Frank Sicarli,from Verona New Jersey, was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Fishing started out slow as the tide was running very hard. When the tide slowed down, the fish started to cooperate and it was non-stop action of Bluefish from 3-8 lbs. After filling the cooler, the group decided to stop and Bottom fish. We caught a dozen Fluke and a few Sea Bass before calling it a day. A great day was had by all as fishing finally turned around.

Larry Longo and crew was aboard the Megan Beth to fish the J.C.S.A. Fluke Tournament. Heading South out of Mansquan, we fished near some local wrecks and caught 30 Fluke up to 5.8 lbs. and some Sea Bass. We also caught a Mahi-Mahi in crystal clear water and plenty of life was around the boat all day.

Then we switched over to a wreck where we managed to catch some nice Sea Bass up to 2 lbs. Stopping on three wrecks we managed to catch Sea Bass on all three.

After a bad Fluke report the day prior and a strong South wind forcast, the decision was made to take the John Vorheeres group out for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stopping on three different wrecks we had a slow pick on all three but by days end, we had a nice cooler full of good size Sea Bass weighing up to 4 lbs. A great day was had by all!

The Gregg Chaplin group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Heading back to the same area the day prior, we started off by catching a Mahi-Mahi as soon as we started. Bluefishing started very slow. With only having a few fish in the cooler by 11 A.M. Thanks for the help by Captain Bernie Roth of the Tanacious which were only a quarter mile away in shallower water called us over as he was leaving and we had non stop action for the next hour and a half. Captain Dan McGivney had the Jim Hopkins family aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing.Heading off shore where we fished last week we found that the water was not as clean but had a slight tint of green to it. It took a liitle time to get the fish going but once we did it was non stop action of Blues to 10lbs.One of the highlights was a small Hammerhead shark which was boated,photographed and released.

After a good day fishing the day prior, we headed back with the Steve Evanski party to the same location. The tide was running hard and the Bluefish were slow to start but throwing a lot of chunks, the Bluefish cooperated as we filled 2 coolers with all big Bluefish on light spinning tackle. A highlight was at days end when a large school of Dolphin (Mahi Mahi)came under the boat and was feeding on the chum. The fish were small and did not bite.

The Al Schrder party, from Franklin Lakes, was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Traveling 15 miles to the NE, we anchored on the East side of the Mud Hole. As soon as the chum got working and chunks were thrown in the water, the Bluefish starting biting. Filling the cooler, and the group tired out we headed home for an early day at 12:30.

The Howard Brietiwich party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of shark fishing. Traveling 28 miles to the East, there was a lot of life including Tinker Mackerel, Blue fin Tuna as well as Shearwaters were working on schools of fish. After setting up, not even having the chum bucket in the water, we immediately had a run off in which we boated a 6 ft. Mako Late morning we had another run off and fought for over a half an hour without seeing the fish. We had to back down over a mile as we could not stop him before he fraid the line either with the tail or wrapped up in the mono. It was a beautiful day on the water with plenty of life and fishing was good!

The John Paterson group was aboard the Megan Beth . Stopping on a wreck SE of Manasquan we caught some nice keeper Sea Bass right away. As the lack of wind and no current to hold us on this small piece we decided to switch over to Fluke fishing. We managed a nice catch of Fluke and plenty of throw backs with the largest fish weighing 7lbs.

With the wind against the tide we had a slow pick of Bluefish after chumming heavy and going down to no wire leaders.WE did switch over to two different wrecks where we caught some keeper sea bass and plenty of throw backs.

The Lou Forenzi group was aboard the Megan Beth for a combination trip of Bluefish and Fluke. Heading back to where we were the day before, as the water turned green over night the Bluefish bit non-stop from the time the anchor came tight and was non-stop until the cooler was full. Heading back South to some local lumps, we caught a few shorts and a couple keeper fluke before the wind came up hard out of the Southeast as we needed 10 ounces of weight to hold bottom. As the ocean got rough, we decided to call it a day as the coolers were full of Bluefish already.

The Laberto Lopez party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. Bluefishing was a slow pick as the water was crystal clear and the fish tended to be leader shy. As we were Bluefishing, we positioned the boat over a wreck so we were able to catch Ling and Sea Bass as we chummed for Bluefish. Filling a cooler of Bluefish, Sea Bass and Ling they caught plenty of fish for the table.

The Steve Lowe party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. The group caught their limit in the matter of hours with fish ranging from 4 to 12 lbs. The fish were feeding on Sandeels, Squid, and Rainfish. After catching our limit of Bluefish, we stopped on a local wreck and we caught a couple dozen Sea Bass to top off the catch before returning to the dock.

Brad Kooker group was aboard the Megan Beth with Capt. Dan McGivney. Stopping on 5 different wrecks we managed to fill a cooler full of Sea Bass. The bite was slow on the first four spots, where all the wrecks were loaded with Dogfish. Stopping on the last wreck, closer to home, we only had a few Dogfish and were able to load up on the Sea Bass.

After seeing all the Big Bass the day before,Capt Dan and Mates decided to get out early and look for some Striped Bass.Leaving the dock at 4:30am we managed to be one of the first boats on the grounds. Boating three and losing another four by 6:00 am the bite was soon over as over a hundred boats were working the bunker schools . The fish weighed in at 18lbs,21.5lbs and 37.2lbs.we were back to the dock by 9:00 am.

Joe Church and Dean Demark booked the Megan Beth to fish the Mako Mania Tournament. After hearing of no sharks and a poor forcast Joe and Dean decided to wait until next weekend to go Shark fishing.Instead they wanted Striped Bass. After getting a late start and a call from Mike Kelly of the Players, we were able to boat two bass before the bite died out completly. The fished weighed 31.25lbs and 39.45lbs. On the way home we stopped on a local wreck to put 40 sea bass in the cooler before returning to the dock.

John Peterson and family were aboard the Megan Beth . Catching their limit of Sea Bass.There was no need to move after stopping on the first wreck in 75 ft of water SE of Manasquan. The largest fish was 3.5 lb and plenty of nice size hump backs were caught by the whole family.A few porgies were caught and released as well.

The Tony Russo group was aboard the Megan Beth which was suppose to be a day of chumming Blues. After 1 1/2 hours of chumming with no fish at all we decided to go on the troll. After making our first pass we boated a 21 lb Striper. By days end we had a good catch of Bass as well as bluefish. The bass ranged from 18lbs up to 25lbs.

The Nathan Kearns was in from Ohio for a two day Sea Bass marathon aboard the Megan Beth. Fishing close by on Monday due to the 10 to 15 knot forcast. (25 knots) we fished a piece 5 miles to the SE. After making two drops we had our limit of Sea Bass with in a few hours, Blue fish spiced the catch as well. On Tuesday we fished a wreck 14 miles to the SE. With no wind or tide we managed to pick away at the Sea bass,until the Dog fish took over and we had to leave the wreck. Stopping on two other locations we managed to put our limit in the boat the second day in a row. Sea Bass fishing could not be better than it is now.

The largest fish weighing 4 lbs we were able to put the limit together quickly.A few Bluefish,Ling,Eels, and Porgies were caught as well.One wreck was loaded with Dogfish and were so thick we had to move after 15 minutes of fishing.

Steve and crew fished abord the Megan Beth for Sea Bass.Heading down to wrecks 15 miles SE of Manasquan we fished two spots and had a steady pick of sea bass. Both wrecks were loaded with Bluefish and the Sea bas bit on and off all day.We ended up with a limit catch of Sea Bass and a couple of Blackfish.

The Brad Kooker group was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stopping at the first wreck 5 miles to the East of the inlet in 20 knot winds we managed only a few Sea Bass. We did boat croakers,eel,and a lobster. Stopping at the second wreck only a few miles to the south we managed a half dozen Sea bass and a 4lb blackfish. The wind dropped off and we headed out 14 miles which proved to be the right move as it was non stop action of Sea Bass limiting out and catching plenty of Porgies and bluefish.

The Nathan Kearns group were in from Ohio for a two day Sea bass trip aboard the Megan Beth.The first day we limited out with many large sea bass weighing up to 4.5lbs. Mixed in the catch were a couple of Blackfish, a dozen porgies and a fluke which was released.The second day we caught our limit of sea bass but only a handful of porgies. Top sea bass on the second day was 2.5lbs.

Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
The Steve Evanski group were aboard the Megan Beth on Sunday for a day of Bluefishing. Chumming at the Mud Bouy was slow to get started as boats left the area fishing turned on and by days end the coolers were loaded with mainly 5lb blues . One fish was caught that weighed in at 12lbs. One Fluke was caught as a bait was sent to the bottom The fluke was a 4.8lb fish. Also a couple of false Albocore were caught and released.

Cancelled our Canyon trip due to the forcast so we decided to do a fun bottom trip.Stopping on three wrecks just to the East of manasquan we caught our limit of Sea Bass along with a few porgies. Clam baits were the best tried some crab but no Blackfish. water is to warm. Lots of short Sea Bass had to pick through a couple hundred fish.

The Dave Tranchera party was aboard the Megan Beth on Saturday 9/07/02 . Trolling from the Oil Wreck down to the Monsters ledge only produced one small Bonita. Working are way out to the Glory hole where the water was a lot cleaner produced Two Bluefin (one keeper). Working the area the rest of the day where the false Albacore and sKip Jack were non stop.

The Mike Johnston and crew fished aboard the Megan Beth for an overnite Tuna Trip. Arriving on the West side of the Hudson Canyon within 5 minutes we had our first longfin in the boat on a purple jet. We trolled until dark and only caught one dolphin and a few skip jack before setting up for the nite. All nite we had plenty of bait and life around the boat but only one hit producing a long fin about 50lbs.Back on the troll we went six for seven on the long fins and at the end of the day we had a white marlin crash the bait three times but we did not hook up.

It was a slow pick of Blues for the Lou Forenzi group aboard the Megan Beth.Stopping at the farms there were plenty of fish but were not on the feed. Changing down to Mono we were able to get some fish to bite but lost a few with no wire leader.Stopping on the way home produced a half dozen fluke keepers a long with a dozen throw backs.

Larry Longo and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for the JCSA annual Fluke tournament.Heading south of manasquan it was a slow pick of Fluke with the largest a 5.45lb . Fishing some local lumps and hills were slow and all the keepers were caught around wrecks.

Thomas Walker and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for the first over night canyon trip of the season. After arriving on the west side we trolled for 4 hours with not even a hit.The water was green with plenty of life Wales,porpose,squid . During the night we boated one yellowfin around 50lbs which was the only hit all night. Trolling in the AM did not produce anything. We need clean water before the action will get better.

The Jeff Fisher party was aboard the Megan Beth on Sunday 8/11/02. Stopping on the Klondike banks where the fleet was able to jig some small blues the bite was over. Stopping on a small lump just a few miles to the north it was non stop action of 3lb class bluefish till the end of the day .

Russel Moretti (12) and crew were aboard the Megan Beth to fish the annual JCSA kids tourny. Fishing the local lumps just south of the inlet the crew managed to catch 7 keepers along with a lot of short fluke and plenty of skates and sea robins. Russ caught the largest with a 5Lb fish placing second in the 12 to16 year old group.

Chuck Hays and crew were aboard the Megan Beth . After stopping on the first wreck with no wind or tide we caught a couple dozen Sea Bass then the action dropped off. After re anchoring four times and wind and tide picked up we managed a goo d catch of Sea Bass by days end . Mixeed in were some porgies and some small Bluefish.

After fishing the rocks the day before Capt. Dan Mcgivney decided to give the rocks another try.The Vinny Lombardo crew was aboard the Megan Beth and we read very few fish there. We received a call from Capt. Jason of the (Rooster) as he was into the Blues heavy at the Mud Bouy.As soon as we got there it was non -stop action of fish from 3to 12lbs.After filling the coolers we stopped at a few spots on the way home for some fluke only to catch a couple dozen Sea Bass.

Lou & Jo Jo and crew from Mikes Nusrey on 7/26/02 were aboard the Megan Beth. After fighting very rough seas in the morning we went to the Shrewsbury Rocks.We had about a dozen big bluefish on the Chum in very difficult conditions.After the bite died off we traveled 8 miles to East to fish a lump. The only boat there is was non-stop action of Bluefish in the 3 to 5lb class.As the day went on the seas got calmer and we left the fish biting after boating two coolers of fish.

Frank Sacarli and crew were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing. After stopping 15 miles north of Manasquan Inlet it was a slow start with no tide moving we managed to cathch 8 fish in the 10lb class before the action died. Making a move 8 miles to the SE it was non stop action on blues in the 3lb class.After filling the coolers we were on our way home.

It was a slow pick of keepers for the Paul Daley fishing aboard the Megan Beth.Catching 12 keepers releasing over 48 fish that were just 16 inches.A few Sea bass were caught as well as some small Bluefish.

Stave Evanski was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Blue fishing. Stopping 18 miles east of Mansquan it was a slow pick and as we got there boats were pulling anchor and moving, we had to move around and find some fish a we decided to drift.After filling one cooler 3/4 of the way the action stopped.Jim Stanford on the boat the Xanadu was sharkfishing 6 miles to the East,but was being bothered by so many bluefish he told us to come on out. Within in one hour we finished filling the one cooler and filled the second and were on are way home. Thank you Jim for the call.

Capt. Dan McGivney : Reports that the Al Schrader was aboard the Megan Beth for A Sea Bas trip. While stopping on two local wrecks we had a slow pick of Sea Bass.Al Caught the largest 3.5lbs Victoria (8) caught the biggest Fluke a 3Lb fish. Fluking fishing was tuff as the SE wind picked up and you needed 8 to 10oz to hold bottom.

It was a steady pick of Sea Bass for Greg Chaplin and family.Brent caught the largest fish a 3.5lb Black fish while Grand Pa caught a Flounder that went 2.5lbs. Shane and Kelly Chaplin caught most of the Sea Bass that went 2lbs . Ratio of keepers to throw backs were about 50/50.

Steve Lowe and crew from Burlington Coat Factory were aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Bluefishing.With wind against the tide we decided to drift as the lines went straight to the bow. We did pick a few as the fish were there but were not feeding well. At mid day we ran into some of the local lumps and had a decent pick of Fluke before finishing up the day.

On Sunday 6/30 we had Joann & Lou from Mikes Nursey aboard the Megan Beth for a day of blue fishing. Fishing on the edge of the Mud Hole it was non stop action of blues . After an hour of fishing we released countless numbers of bluefish. The fish are there feeding on Squid and Shrimp. Hope all that bait stays in the area maybe we will see some Tuna this year.

Al Lawernce and crew were aboard the Megan Beth fishing the Kevin Bailey charity tournament.After drifting in Green water and not able to get away from the bluefish we ran 20 miles to the north to find clean water with plenty of turtles bait and birds but again we only had bluefish that tore up the baits all day long.

It was back out to the edge of the Mud Hole for the Jim Gibbons group aboard the Megan Beth. Today we anchored and it didn't take long for the chum to work then it was non stop action of blues to bite with two to three fish on at a time . Hope the fish stay there for a while as they are feeding on plenty of bait in that area.

It was non stop action for the Munson Enginering group aboard the Megan Beth. As we got to the edge of the Mud Hole the blue fish were feeding on top on Rain fish. Before the chum was in the water we had three blues on.With calm sea and very little swell we stayed on the drift . After filling two cooler we released fish for over an hour and at 10:00 Am we went to a wreck and had a slow pick of Sea bass to finish up the day.

While fishing aboard the Megan Beth in the Greater Point Pleasant Charter Boat association Mako Mania tournament,Steve Lessel fought a Thresher shark estimated to be between 300 to 400 . After a one our battle the fish was up to the leader,at that point it was realized that it was a big Thresher and not a Mako.And the fish was released to catch an other day.

It was a slow pick of Sea Bass for the John Howard party. The tide was running very hard and the Sea Bass were not as aggressive as they have been.The ratio of keepers were about 50/50. We stopped on the way home on two lumps but only caught a few throw back fluke.

After the NE blow on Friday there was a ground swell of about 6 feet on Saturday morning. Taking our time to get offshore fishing started off very slow . But as the swell calmed down the blue fish started biting and it was a good catch for the Bill Lundy party filling the coolers.

It was another great trip aboard the Megan Beth for the Jim Sabo group.Stopping at the first wreck we had a slow pick of Sea Bass as their was no current or wind at all and it was very difficult to stay over the wreck.The Dog fish were biting like crazy.As the day went on we moved to two other spots and the wind and current started moving. Then it was non stop action as the group limited out in no time at all. The fish averged around 2lbs and largest was 4lb.Only one Blackfish was caught that was just under the legal size limit.

The Steve Lessel party was aboard the Megan Beth for a day of Sea Bass fishing. Stoping on one close inshore wreck due the thick fog we had a slow pick of Sea Bass. We decided to venture out to the South East about 15miles and put a great catch together only having to stop on one wreck. The fish averaged 2lbs and the largest was a 3.5lb.

Capt Dan McGivney had the Jeff Bowen party on board Saturday 5/04/02. After a short ride to a Wreck inshore south of Manasquan inlet. It was non -stop action of Sea Bass up to 3lbs . Most of the fish were in the 2lb range with only 2 blackfish being caught. Great fishing now is the time to go if you want to catch some quality Sea bass.

We fished the JCSA tournament with the Larry Longo group aboard the Megan Beth . The seas were 6 to 8feet and we needed up to 12oz to hold bottom but the fluke bit there heads off. We did manage to catch our limit along with three note worthy fish a 6.1lb,6.85lb and a 8.28lb fluke that placed fourth in the tournament.

The Megan Beth had the Mike Maloney of Rutherford NJ out for a day of fluke fishing.We manage to catch our limit with a party of four with 7 fish weighing between 5 and 6lbs. The next day I decided to take my Kids out (Megan and Alyssa) with no drift we manage to put 15 keepers in the box with 3 in the 5lb class.

We fished the West wall Of the Hudson canyon with the Phil Schinaglle group . Before dark we managed to troll two longfin before settling down for the night. During the night we broke off two fish next to the boat with only two other run offs. During the middle of the night we had to sit out a storm when a front came through with 40 to 50 knot winds.We did manage to boat anther longfin before heading home.

We decided to head to the Mud Buoy with the Paul Crilly and Family aboard .The storm the night before caused a big ground swell but it was a steady pick of blues once the tide change and the water stared to move.Fishing the bottom was very quiet only catching a single sea bass.

After having a great day the day before we headed straight back up to 17 fathoms with the steve evanski group aboard.When we first got to the spot we fished the day before the action started out very slow.After boating only a dozen blues we got a call from captain Wayne Bushnell and captain Paul Regula and we took there advise and moved to the other side of the bank next to them and it was non stop action as soon as we moved.After filling two coolers it was time to return hitting the RAIN all the way home.

On Saturday we had the Emilio Vargas party aboard the Megan beth . We fished the area of 17 fathoms and it was non stop action from the time we got there catching our limit of bluefish. By the time we headed home we missed the rain.

Fishing with the Steve Evanski group it was ladies day aboard the Megan Beth. The husband and wifes and a little "freindly" competition and at days end it came out to a close tie with a limit number of bluefish caught by all. At first we stopped at a spot inshore where we fished the day prior but only caught three fish as there was no tide and baits went straight to the bottom. After moving 4 miles to the East we read plenty of fish but they would not bite . We had to go down to no wire leaders only using mono and circle hooks we started catching non stop.At one point we had the fish so close you only had to dangle your line next to the boat and you would have a fish on .

Captain Dan had the Vinnie Lombardo party aboard the Megan Beth.It was limit catches of Bluefish for all fishing a popular inshore spot in 30 feet of water.Stopping on the way home we took two keeper fluke with about a dozen throw backs in 50 feet of water.

It was non stop action for the Terry Fernoff group from Bethlaham PA aboard the Megan Beth. The blue fishing was very good just on the East side of the Mud hole.Filling two coolers of mixed size fish. The first two hours produced large fish 10 to 12lbs then small fished mixed in as we broke out the spinning tackle to have some fun land the 3lb fish.

The Megan Beth had Megan,Alyssa McGivney along with Russ Moretti to fish the kids JCSA Tournament. Keeping 5 Fluke to 2.0lbs all three children placed and all won prizes.There was plenty of action with shorts and skates as it kept the parents very busy unhooking and rebaiting the hooks.

After figting a 25 knot SE wind we stopped on a wreck 14 miles out but it was too rough for us to anchor on it properly.We decided to head back inshore and we fished a couple of local spots to put together a decent catch of Sea Bass and Ling for the Chuck Hays Party . By 11:00 am the wind droped out and the ocean turned calm.

It was non stop action aboard the Megan Beth for the Paul Stillitano party from Elizabeth NJ.We fished 15 Miles NE of manasquan Inlet in 150 feet of 66 degree water. Has soon as the chum got going fishing was non stop with at least two fish on all the time. Hope the action will contine and the bluefish settle in one place for the season.

After putting a dozen keepers in the box and releasing a couple dozen shorts and loads of skates we swithed over to a local wreck to put a dozen Sea Bass in the Box before heading for home as the wind picked up to about 20 knots out of the SW before the thunderstorms came through.

It was non Stop action for the Steve Powers group filling all the coolers with 10 to 12 pound bluefish. The action started out slow and then developed into non stop action until two of the crew members caught there limits and all the coolers were full,before heading home in the fog.

Capt Dan had the Bill Lundy group aboard the Megan Beth to catch their limit of Striped Bass. The Fish ranged from shorts up to 20 lbs.Most of the action was 20 miles north of Manasquan inlet.We did stop to catch a few keeper Blackfish along with a bunch of shorts.

Capt Dan had the Larry Longo group aboard the Megan Beth to have a good day of Sea bass fishing.The first stop on a wreck 15 miles to the East only produced one Large Sea bass and PLENTY of Porgies.After repositioning on the oppisite side of the wreck we had a steady pick of Sea bass with the largest fish weighing in at 5.15lbs.A half dozen keeper Blackfish were caught and a dozen throw backs.By the end of the day we filled a 171 qt cooler.

Capt Dan had the Thomas Walker group aboard for a canyon trip. As we got to the tip of the lindenkohl canyon we started to troll .Soon after we started we had 3 fish in the box. after settling down for the night we only had two blue sharks in the slick during the night and we managed one more longfin tuna along with a couple of dolphin in the morning before heading home.

On Sunday Capt Dan had the Megan Beth out with the Steve Evanlaski party aboard to catch bluefish .The action was slow as there was no tide and all the baits went straight down to the bottom. The group managed to catch a couple dozen bluefish, a couple dozen sea bass and 2 fluke that weighed 4lbs and 5.75lbs.On Monday 09/04/00 Capt Dan had the family out to catch a dozen keeper fluke and a couple dozen throw backs . Most of the action was 9miles off the beach on the lumps.

On Saturday we had the Greg Chaplin group aboard to chum a catch a cooler full of bluefish before releasing many more.While catching bluefish those that elected to fish the bottom caught plenty of sea bass and we had 10 fluke from 3to 5lbs. On Sunday we had Frank Scarli and freind Len from Verona NJ aboard the Megan Beth only to catch a few bluefish but were able to catch a bucket full of sea bass and 20 keeper fluke from 3to 6lbs .The conditions were bad as the wind was against the tide and lines were under the boat most of the day.

On Saturday we had the Bob Hardt group aboard the Megan Beth to catch and release the limit of bluefish.After the arms were tired the group decided to switch over to bottom fishing.A couple dozen Sea Bass and a half dozen fluke were put in the cooler. The fluke all ranged from 4 to 6lbs.On Sunday it was back out with the Steve Evanolski party to catch another limit catch of bluefish before switching over to fluke and sea bass to top off the cooler.Hope fishing continues to be as good as its been.

On Friday Capt Dan Mcgivney had the Megan Beth 30 miles east of manasquan Inlet only to catch and release a blue shark about 100lbs.On Saturday Capt Dan had the Dan Mcmullin group aboard to catch their limit of bluefish 20 miles north east of manasquan inlet.The bluefish were in the 3to 5lb class which were a lot of fun on light tackle.

On Saturday we had the Art Legins group aboard the Megan Beth to have a good catch of bluefish.Fishing was a steady pick all day and the group went home with plenty of filets. On Sunday it was back out with the Steve Evanalski group from Drums Pa to have a great catch of Blues. After stoping where we finished the day before only to find the fish have moved off to the east another 5 to 6 miles.

CAPT DAN MCGIVNEY HAD THE AL SCHRADER GROUP OUT FOR A DAY OF FLUKE FISHING ALONG THE BEACH.THE GROUP MANAGED TO CATCH AROUND 40 FLUKE BUT ONLY 10 FISH BEING KEEPERS.SPICING THE CATCH WAS A 1/2 DOEZEN BLUEFISH.ON SUNDAY 7/09 WE HAD THE STEVE LESSEL PARTY ABOARD TO HAVE A GOOD CATCH OF BLUEFISH 21 MILES SE OF MANASQUAN.AFTER THE SEAS BUILT UP TO 6FOOT WE SWITCHED OVER TO A INSHORE WRECK TO SPICE THE CATCH WITH A COUPLE DOZEN SEA BASS.

On Saturday 07/01 we had the Jim Sabo party aboard for a shark fishing trip. While on our way off we saw miles of bluefish chasing bait rainfish,mackeral,and sand eels.we decided to stop and catch a 1/2dozen for bait before heading out to the edge of the mud hole with beautiful conditions only to catch and release a brown shark in the 50lb class. Sunday it was back to bluefishing with Mike Kohner group out to catch there limit of bluefish.It started out as a slow pick then Capt Paul Regula of the Bounty hunter called us out to a lump to finish the day with one bluefish after another,3 to 4 fish on at all times.

On Saturday 06/17/00 fished the Greater Point Pleasant Charter Boat Association MAKO MANIA shark tournament . Fished 30 miles SE of Manasquan in 63.5 degree water,drift was good covering over 10 miles in the course of the day in 4 to 6 foot seas. Only caught and released one blue shark during the day that Fred Hofmann fought.

The Megan Beth had the Chuck Myers group aboard to catch a cooler full of bluefish along with one Striped Bass while chumming 14 miles north of Manasquan Inlet.After catching a cooler full of bluefish we switched over to Sea Bass and caught a couple dozen before returning home.

ON WEDENSDAY 10/27 CAPT. DAN HAD THE MEGAN BETH OUT TO LOCAL WRECKS TO 15 MILES TO PUT TOGETHER A GOOD CATCH OF SEA BASS FOR THE BRIAN MASTERSON GROUP FROM HOWELL NJ. ON SATURDAY 10/30 CAPT DAN ALONG WITH CAPT WAYNE HAD THE MEGAN BETH UP 15 MILES TO THE NORTH TO PUT TOGETHER A GOOD CATCH OF STIPERS FOR THE JIM CHARKEN PARTY FROM DUMONT NJ WITH FISH WEIGHING UP TO 21LBS.

Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
On 9/4 Megan Beth had the Greg Harms party out to the Mudhole after cancelling an overnight Canyon trip due to the poor weather. We fished on the west side of the hole and managed to catch 1 bluefin along with a small mako, bonita, albacore, bluefish, ling and a whiting. Conditions were good and water was very clean after the storm and the inshore fishing should only get better in the upcoming weeks.

On 8/29 Captain Dan McGivney had the Fred Sual party out for a good day of bluefishing at 17 fathoms. Stopping at the Shrewsbury Rocks for some seabass action before returning home with a cooler full of fish.

August 13
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
ON 08/13/99 CAPT WAYNE BUSHNELL HAD THE MEGAN BETH NORTH OF THE INLET TO HAVE A GOOD CATCH OF FLUKE FOR THE BRAD KOOKER PARTY THE LARGEST FISH WEIGHING IN AT 7.25LBS. ON 08/14/99 CAPT DAN MCGIVNEY HAD THE VINNY ARMETTO PARTY OUT AT THE MUD BOUY TO CATCH BLUEFISH BEFORE CALLING THE DAY SHORT DUE TO THE ROUGH WEATHER. ON SUNDAY 08/15/99 CAPT DAN WAS BACK UP TO THE MUD TO HAVE A GOOD CATCH OF BLUEFISH FOR THE BOB HART PARTY .WHEN CONDITIONS BECAME BAD (WIND AGAINST TIDE )WE SWITCHED OVER TO FLUKE AND MANAGED TO CATCH 18 KEEPERS UP TO 4LBS IN THE ROCK BEDS NORTH OF THE INLET .

July 24 - 29
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
ON SATURDAY, 7/24 THE MEGAN BETH HAD THE STEVE PIRANO GROUP OUT BLUEFISHING 18 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE MANASQUAN INLET. WE HAD A SLOW PICK OF BLUEFISH ALL DAY AS THEY WERE STILL IN SPAWNING. ON WEDNESDAY, 7/28 WE HAD THE CHUCK MEYERS PARTY OUT FROM FLANDERS, NJ AND THE BLUEFISH RESPONDED AS WE CAUGHT OUR LIMIT OF BLUEFISH WITH THE LARGEST FISH WEIGHING 10 LBS. ON THURSDAY, 7/29 WE TOOK OUT THE ALAN WELCH GROUP FROM BRIDGEWATER, NJ. AFTER CATCHING OUR LIMIT OF BLUEFISH, WE SWITCHED OVER TO TROLLING IN THE SAME AREA TO CATCH A GOOD NUMBER OF KEEPER STRIPERS AND RELEASING AN ADDITIONAL 12 SHORTS IN 1 1/2 HOURS. FISHING HAS BEEN GREAT THIS WEEK AND WITH ALL THE BAIT AROUND, IT SHOULD CONTINUE.

July 6 - 11
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
ON TUESDAY 7/6 CAPT WAYNE BUSHNELL HAD THE MEGAN BETH OUT WITH THE GREG HARMS PARTY AFTER MANAGING TO CATCH 5 KEEPER STRIPED BASS AND RELEASING MANY SHORTS THEY DECIDED TO BLUEFISH AT THE MUD BOUY AND CAUGHT THEIR LIMITS BEFORE RETURNING . ON THURSDAY 7/8 CAPT DAN MCGIVNEY HAD THE BOAT 35 MILES EAST OF THE INLET WITH THE KEEVIN KENYON PARTY CATCHING AND RELEASING 2 BLUE SHARKS AND LOSING A MAKO IN THE 150 LB CLASS AT THE BOAT . ON 7/9 CAPT WAYNE WAS BACK OUT IN THE SAME AREA AND CAUGHT A MAKO THAT WEIGHED IN AT 135 LBS FOR THE DAN SWEENEY PARTY THEY ALSO RELEASED A BLUE SHARK AND CAUGHT A COUPLE OF BLUEFISH. CAPT DAN FISHED FOR FLUKE WITH JIM AND JOE SABO TO CATCH A 1/2 DOZEN KEEPERS ALONG WITH MANY MANY SHORTS. THE EMILIO VARGAS GROUP WAS OUT ON SUNDAY 7/11 AFTER NOT CATCHING ANY BLUEFISH AT THE MUDBOUY AND THE ROCKS WE SWITCHED OVER TO FLUKE AND PUT A GOOD CATCH TOGETHER ANLONG WITH MANY THROW BACKS .

June 21 - 26
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
ON MONDAY 6/21/99 CAPT WAYNE BUSNELL HAD THE MEGAN BETH NORTH OF MANASQUAN AND PUT TOGETHER A GOOD CATCH OF STRIPED BASS UP TO 20LBS TROLLING. CHUNKING ONLY PRODUCED LOADS OF BLUEFISH. ON SATURDAY 6/26 CAPT DAN MCGIVNEY HAD MIKE MIEANNIO PARTY OUT FOR A GOOD CATCH OF SEA BASS . ALSO CAUGHT ON THE WRECKS THAT DAY WAS FLUKE,BLACKFISH,TRIGGER FISH,AND TWO 4 FOOT AMERICAN EELS.

June 18 - 19
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
62 degrees Information : On Friday, 6/18 Captain Dan McGivney had the Megan Beth out for a good troll of striped bass. Chris Staghouse from Allentown, PA boated the largest of the bass at 18 pounds. After catching plenty of stripers, we switched over to bluefish chumming and filled the coolers before returning to the dock. On Saturday, 6/19 Captain Dan fished the Mako Mania Tournament only to tag and release a blue shark in the 75 pound class. Despite the great conditions, including clean water, we spotted plenty of tuna fish, bluefish and sea turtles 35 miles southeast of the Manasquan Inlet.

June 7 - 13

CAPT. WAYNE BUSHNELL HAD THE MEGAN BETH UP TO SANDY HOOK HAD HAD A GREAT DAY STRIPED BASS FISHING WITH THE NICK MASSO GROUP BOATING A GOOD NUMBER OF KEEPERS ALONG WITH RELEASING OVER 50 SHORTS .ON 6/9 CAPT DAN MCGIVNEY HAD THE BOAT OUT 15 MILES NE. OF MANASQUAN TO FILL THE COOLERS WITH BLUEFISH FOR BOB FLAIR AND FRIENDS BEFORE SWITCHING OVER TO FLUKE BOATING 7 NICE KEEPERS AND RELEASING ABOUT ANOTHER 20 FISH.6/11 CAPT WAYNE WAS BACK UP NORTH TO PUT 8 KEEPER STRIPED BASS IN THE BOAT THAT WERE IN 15 TO 20 LB CLASS FOR THE DAN SWEENEY PARTYBEFORE CATCHING AND RELEASING PLENTY OF BLUEFISH. THE RICK SCHELLMAN PARTY WAS ABOARD THE MEGAN BETH FOR ANOTHER EXCELLENT DAY OF BLUEFISHINGON SATURDAY 6/13 . DISPITE VERY ROUGH SEAS THE MANAGED TO CATCH THERE LIMIT AND WERE ON THERE WAY HOME BY 11:30AM.WITH A LITTLE CALMER SEAS ON SUNDAY 6/13 THE EMILIO VARGAS GROUP CAUGHT THERE LIMIT OF BLUEFISH IN THE SAME AREA .FISHING HAS BEEN EXCELLENT THIS EARLY SEASON AND WITH PLENTY OF BAIT AROUND GOOD FISHING SHOULD CONTINUE..

June 5 & 6
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
Had the Steve Lowe party from Levittown, PA out for plenty of bluefish, limited out by 10:30 a.m. and tried trolling striped bass at the Shrewsbury Rocks for the rest of the day but only had bluefish all day. On Sunday, the Steve Powers party also limited out on bluefish by 11 a.m. and finished the day off by fluke fishing off of Deal and Elboron. Had 6 keepers but plenty of shorts.

June 4
Captain Dan McGivney Reports:
Captain Wayne Bushnell had the Megan Beth up to Flynn's Knoll for a good day of striped bass fishing, plenty of action. Besides the bass, they caught plenty of bluefish and stopped on the way home for fluke.
