8/23/06
Captain Charles Martino reports:
Yesterday, I took the John Wester charter. They caught their limit of fluke- 40 keepers. On board were Brian Faust, Larry Grove, Kurt, Charlie, and John Wester. Three were over 8 lbs, lots of 6 & 7's. Most were 3-5 lbs. Best fluking of the year is right now.

Fished with the Reel Seat Tackle shop crew, Dave, Al and John. Limite out with 24 big fish. Largest 10.5 lbs. Four 7 pounders, three 6's and the rest 3-5 pound range. Best day so far.

Gregg Vargas of Oceanport chartered yesterday with Andy, Franz and Mark. Had 10 keepers and 2 were 9 pounders caught by Gregg and Andy and Franz got a 7 1/2 pounder.

Fished with the Reel Seat Crew, Dave Arbeitman, Al Sherman and John Wester and fished till 1 p.m. The heat was unbearable. Managed to get 8 keepers. Al Sherman caught a 12.9 lb fluke..The biggest of the year so far on "Light Tackle".

I fished today with Diane Bade. We had fluke up to ten pounds. 2 in the 7's and numbers of 4 and 5 lbs.- 14 keepers altogether.Big fluke are in.

July 18th with the Reel Seat Tackle Shop, Dave, John and Scott. We had 18 keepers, largest was 10lbs.1 oz. Lots of 6 and 7 lbs. fluke.
July 22nd, Bad weather- 11 keepers - up to 7 lbs.Mark Habel charter.
July 25th. fished with Tom Grant charter; Tim from Tennessee, Alan Gooding, Carl and Tom. 17 keeper fluke-
largest 8lb.7 oz. - numbers of 5's and 6's plus a good catch of huge Sea Bass. Tim Grant caught a 24" Sea Bass plus other smaller ones.
Now is the time to catch your Doormat Fluke! Getting better every day.

Friday, June 30th fished with Mark Meskowits, Mark Habel and Billy Miller. 17 keeper fluke- 6.5, 6.7, 7.2.lbs.
Saturday, July 1st, chartered by Jay Rapetski and Randi for Jay's birthday. Jay ended up with a 7.6lb fluke and several 5 and 6 pounders. 14 keepers all together.
Sunday, July 2nd was the "Tin Knocker" charter with Bill, Alan, Tom and Murph. Murph got one 7.5lbs. Alan with one 8 lbs. another 7.2 lbs. Plus 14 keepers in the 3-5 pound bracket. The biggest drawback was being plagued by all the dogfish. Hope the disappear soon.

On June 17th,the charter of John Gault Jr,Raymond Paplas,Bill Harrison,Mike Harrison and Bill Gault Jr. fished fluke. We had 20 keepers up to 6 pounds and a few shorts.
On June 18th, Alan Gooding and Mark Habel charter had fluke -12 keepers up to 7 pounds.
On June 20th the Reel Seat Crew of Dave, Alan and Kenney had 14 keepers up to 8 pounds.
Fluking is good!!

Friday, my charter limited out on fluke. Saturday same story up to 8 lbs. and Tuesday another limit with fluke up to 9 lbs. Great fluke fishing right now. Still open during the week.

May 14th,fished with NY Transit charter, Russell, Charlie, Eugene and Joe. We had over 20 bass from 35" to 40 " and some blues.May 15th, fished with Stankowvich Auto Body charter. We had 15 bass all around 35 inches plus lots of blues. Still open dates during the week. Give a call.

Light Tackle had Jersey Shore Gym crew, John,John and Craig. We had over 20 bass. Smallest 35 inches and largest 40 inches. The best bass fishing is right now. I still have some open dates during the week. Also, less boat traffic.

Light Tackle fished with Randi and Jay Sunday, the day everyone expected hurricane Charley to ruin the day. However, Randi really wanted to go and I took them out. It was dead calm and a very good day fishing. We limited out on fluke, largest Randi had was 7.7lbs.
Still great fluke fishing. Call to reserve your doormat.

July 29th Light Tackle had NY Transit Police crew, Marc Bonilla, Rick Tirado,Eugene Dallesarno and Russell Tedesco. They had a great day fluke fishing. Marc caught an 11.2 lb. fluke plus and 8.8 lb. weakfish along with 18 keeper fluke between 3 and 6 lbs. The last three trips caught fish in the 10-11 lbs bracket. Now is the time to get your doormat.

Light Tackle fishing the POINT PLEASANT ELKS fluke tournament won first place. The winning fish was 10 lbs. 15 oz. caught by Captain Charlie Martino. On board were Mark Habel, Artie Albano and Matt Sagon. Also had 24 keepers ranging from 3 to 10.15 lbs. See pictures in the AP Press and Star Ledger this week.

On July 23rd, Alan Gooding of Tinknocker Heating & Cooling and Tom Grant of Ludlow Heating & Cooling limited out on fluke. The largest being 8.8 lbs. All had a great day.

July 20th AppleJacks' Bar and Grill from Point Pleasant,PA., Dale Stawffer, Dale Ives and Bud Reeves had 19 fluke up to 9 lbs. 2 ozs. caught by Bud Reeves. Great Fluke fishing. Now is the time to catch a doormat fluke.

Garden State Refinishing Charter, John Wester, Zack, Andy and Yvonne limited out on Bluefin Tuna to 50 lbs. three per boat and released another 15 fish. Also, 150 lb. Mako grabbed a 40 lb. Tuna as we were reeling it in and left us a head only. It was a mad bite so we decided to keep fishing for the Tuna instead of trying to pick up the Mako. Great Tuna fishing inshore, you don't have to go to the Canyon. Try and book a trip while they're still here.

Crew from "Conveyor Technologies, Inc." Barry and Rick Mankas, Neil Belcher and Lou Biskup had good day fishing with 25 keepers to 7 lbs Lots in the 4 & 5 lb. bracket. The area was loaded with dog fish. The fishing was still good.

The crew from "Edison Properties", Rui Mendez, Don Becker, Bob Smith, Gary Dorih, Stephen Rosetsky and Brian Harvey had the best fluke fishing trip of the year so far. They limited out with two over 8 lbs, some in the 6 and 7 lb. bracket and lots of 3 and 5 lbs.fish.

The crew from "What's the Scoop" ice cream shop, Gosham, NY, Betty and Joe Gerasalo, daughter Britt Taylor and Rosemarie Gerasolo limited out on striped bass. Rosemarie had the largest one at 35 lbs. All fish were caught live lining and chunking bunker.

7/1 Jim Fuller Charter caught 28 keeper fluke to 6 1/2 lbs.
7/2 Drew & Andrew and Andrew Sr. caught 37 keeper fluke. Biggest was 9.5lbs/7.4lbs/7.2lbs/6.9lbs and a good number in the 4 to 5lb. bracket. All had a great day.

On June 23rd the Robert Eliseo crew slow picked with striped bass. Lots of bluefish off Belmar to Shrewsbury Rocks area. Water temperature was 67 degrees.
On June 24th, Dave from the Reel Seat, John and Howie had a great day fluke fishing. Dave limited out. We had over 20 keepers up to 5 lbs.
On June 25th, the Philadelphia crew from Fishtown had another great day fluking. Drew limited out and caught a 6 lb. fluke. Most of them were 3 to 5 lbs.

Sunday, June 8th Light Tackle tried Cod fishing in the Mud Hole and had 12 Cod from 20 to 28” long and three Pollack. On board were Dan Smith, Wayne Smith and George Pachecho.
Saturday, June 14th “Light Tackle” charter enjoyed great day striped bass fishing off Belmar. Live lining bunker caught them. On board were Bill Gazi, his son and Frank Mainieri. The size of the eight fish was from 25 to 35 lbs (bonus tags were used).
On Sunday June 15th, I tried live lining bunker off Belmar but due to too many people fishing in one spot (over 200 boats) we left that area and went to Sandy Hook and limited out with bass. The sizes were 20-25lbs, caught on bunker chunks.

Light Tackle enjoyed great day striped bass fishing. Fish ranged from 18 to 27 lbs. All caught chunking. Caught 11 bass.

John Heuneman, Robert Baron, Mark Ochs and Tim Lyston limited out on stripers at Sandy Hook on Thursday, May 22nd. Catch and release fish were 20-25lbs. Largest fish was 27lbs. Caught by Bobby Baron. Now is the time to catch your trophy bass.

Thursday Jack Swartz charter had a limit of stripers to 23 lbs. Lots of large blue fish were released.
Sunday’s trip Anthony Stankovitch, Mouse and Kenny limited on striped bass to 27 lbs.,mixed in with some bluefish. We released many fish in the 20 to 25 lb. class. The best bass fishing is happening right now. Most of the fish were caught in Sandy Hook using bunker chunks and spoons. Call for open dates.

May 9th I took out the Stankovich group and we limited out on bass. May 10th, John Westover, Marty, Zack and his son. Also, limited out on bass. May 11th, Addison Clark, Jay Rapetsky and Randi Rapetsky. Ransi caught the largest bass 24 lbs.

“Stripers instead of Strippers” for Scott Stankovich’s Bachelor Party aboard Light Tackle May 5th. On board were Jason Klett, Robert Baron, Scott and Anthony Stankovich. Scott released a 40lb. Stiped Bass and they limited out on bass of 38.09 lb., 37.2 lb., 33 lbs. An numbers of fish in the 20-25 lb. Class.
Fish were caught in Sandy Hook chunking and trolling. May is the month for trophy sized Striped Bass. There are still open dates during the week.
