10/16/06
Captain Dave Bender reports:
capts mike marvinney and dave bender took peter lindia of bridgewater,nj and friends back out on an overnighter to the hudson canyon monday oct 16th. we chunked seven yellowfins to 70 lbs but never had the fish under the boat for very long. we worked very hard and moved several times just to put that catch together. our plan was to drift the squid boat fleet in the am but the predicted southeast winds for "late" came quite early, the ride home was unpleasant and the inlet was trecherous to say the least. once again there were scattered reports of good catches, the fish seem to be scattered in smaller schools, we are hoping that schools open for business next time we go.

capts limmy gahm and kevin gerrity took fred peoni sr and jr of spruce run, new jersey and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon sunday oct. 15th. the forecast for varable winds never materialized and the guys were in rough seas most of sunday. we trolled six nice yellowfins to 70 pounds, with reel seat gerry garcia bars being the hot lure. at night we only chunked one 60 pound yelowfin, in what was an extremly slow night for us. there were reports of some very good fishing all around us, it just wasn't meant to be.

capt's rick petschauer and dave bender took joe zagorski and gerry zagorski with some friends on an overnighter to the toms canyon monday october 9th, 2006 we arrived at dusk so we went right to the chunk. within two minutes we had our first yellowfin in the boat, i told the guys it was either a great sign or bad luck. well, we had only a handful of fish the rest of the night. the forecast called for 20knot northeast for wednesday but we were pleasantly surprised to have flat calm seas. we decided to troll and it turned out to be a great idea. within a mile of where we set up for the night we saw some whales, six rods went off and 10 minutes later we doulbled our catch. for the next few hours we hammered the area boating a dozen huge longfins and one yellowfin. we really lucked out and returned to manasquan with 18 tunas and two nice mahi.

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took martin bienacz of toms river and friends on an overnighter to the lindenkohl canyon sunday oct 8th. we aited all day for the northeast winds to lay down and headed out a 2pm in about a 6' swell. after not fishing for several days due to the blow we didn't know quite what to expect. the fish bit early and we were 11 for 17 on yellowfins up to 60lbs. we did not have a bite past 1am. we did read the fish in the early moring but they wouldn't eat. we caught several fish on the shimano butterfly jigs.

capt's rick petschauer and dave bender took mike courtney of bayhead and the surf taco boys out to the lindenkohl canyon. we could not find the water we had been fishing so we looked further south, but still came up a bit cooler than we had hoped for. we went back to the scene of the last crime and had fish right away. after boating four fiah right away, it was very slow after that and we came home with seven nice yellowfins to 70 pounds. we had about as many lost including three solid hookups on the butterfly jigs.

capt's jimmy gahm, kevin gerrity and dave bender took greg shapiro of bucks county, pa and friends on an overnighter to the lindenkohl canyon friday sept 29th. the chunk bite was red hot as we boated 18 yellowfins to 75lbs and released another 10 or so. the largest fish was caught on the shimano butterfly jigging system and it produced much of the action. two swordfish were also caught and released.

capt's matt muzlay and sean carton took jim miranda of woodbridge and friends on an overnighter to the lindenkohl canyon wednesday sept 27th. we went right back to where we were tuesday and had the bait right away. unfortunatley the bite was slower for us. we boated 8-12 on yellowfins up to 80lbs. we did troll in the morning but the weeds were terrible once again.

captains rick petschauer and dave bender took dennis luczajko of philly and friends on an overnighter to the lindenkohl canyon tuesday sept26 2006. the trolling was non existant in heavy sargasso weed but the chunking was very good. we caught 16 yellowfins to 70 lbs and released two large brown sharks during the night in flat calm seas. the action was on butterfish, squid, sardines and shimano butterfly jigs.

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took john donahoe of rockaway,nj and friends to the hudson canyon friday sept 22,2006. with a very sketchy forecast we were apprehensive about going, but the great bite we have been experiencing seemed to warrant the crummy ride home. we set up on the chunk with great promise only to be let down. we released two small swordfish before midnight and then went 3-7 on 70 pound yellowfins. the rough conditions and ripping current made fishing difficult, we started to mark fish when the sun came up and the current dropped out but the conditions were getting worse so we opted for a slow ride home.

capt's matt muzlay and sean carton took rich banas of glenwood ,nj on an overnighter to the hudson canyon thurssday sept 21st2006. the troll was unproductive but the chunk was good as we went 4-17 on 70 pound yellowfins. the highlight of the trip was a 175lb swordfish along with another at 90lbs. we will say goodbye to the summer of 2006 and hope that the weather improves for the fall.

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took joe and gerry zagorski of fords, nj , karen and gary grebner, and russ shultz on an overnighter to the hudson canyon sunday sept 17th, 2006. a large fleet made trolling difficult but we managed to boat four fifty pound yellowfins on reel seat spreaders bars and ballyhoo and lost an 80 pounder at the boat. after trolling till dark we anchored up and waited for our turn. we were not disappointed as it turned on at 1am and by 2:30 we had 21 yellowfins in the boat up to 70-lbs. we used live squid as well as the shimano butterfly jigs. the guys were catching live squid on a 7' inshore rod with power pro when a fifty pound yellowfin inhaled the squid as well as the jig. after an hour long battle and many runs we boated the fish and got our jig back.

capt's matt muzlay and sean carton took kevin mcarthy of nyc and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon thursday sept14th. upon arrival we trolled and had a good bite of 30-35 pound yellowfins boating ten and missing several others. at dusk we anchored up and at 8pm went 2-3 on 60 pound yellows. by 1am we had 18 yellowfins to 70lbs and released several more. the bite was primarily on sardines and squid baits, as well as the shimano butterfly jigs. next up "the flying zagorski twins"

on sept 8th capts sean carton and dave bender took steve and dave raines of chester, new york and friends right back to the hudson canyon. arriving at 5pm we set right up on the chunk knowing that the forecast would be favorable to a few hundred boats fishing. we got our first bite at 9pm and it was our largest fish, a legitimate 80lb yellowfin. we picked all night long, not the mad dog that the guys had the night before. by daylight we had 14 yellowfins all from 60-70lbs aside from a 90lb swordfish. we heard of many swordfish in the 150-200plus class taken that night. we also had great results with the real seat butterfly jigging system

on sept 7th capts matt muzlay and kevin gerrity took jonathon baum of colts neck and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon. upon arrival they found all the weeds once again and the trolling was tough. after catching only skipjack they set up early for the night. theydidt heir first bite untill after midnight. they picked a few fish including a 80lb swordfish and at 4am the mad dog was on. they boated a total of 19 yellowfins and a majority came on the new shimano butterfly jigging system from the real seat in brielle. at first light they were on their way home.

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took matt dickens of hazlet and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon monday sept 4th. after sitting idle at the dock for over a week we were quite anxious to get out, inspite of a big swell and some strong westerly winds we set our course for the hudson canyon. not knowing what to find when we arrived we found the sargasso weed to be more than abundant. trolling was extremly tough and we didn't have a touch all day. not getting discouraged capt jimmy chunked early and had two 70 lb yellowfins on right away. through the night we went 1-3 on swordfish boating a 100lb'r. we also boated a total of 6 70 lb yellowfins and two 50 lb longfins. we had our first sailfish release of 2006 as jimmy netted three 18" sailfish behind the boat. at day light we read the fish under the boat but they wouldn't cooperate. all in all the guys had a great time and returned home early.

capts kevin gerrity and dave bender took tom and tim cunningham of colts neck on an overnighter to the hudson canyon friday august 25th. the weather was somewhat suspect for friday all week but 4am friday morning noaa posted variable winds friday and 5-10 knots s/e sat- wed, we were really pumped. after talking with several boats on their way in on friday morning we heard the bite was good and the weather was even better. after about 50 miles out it started to pick up and by the time we reached the edge it was flat out ugly. we trolled in 5-8 foot seas all afternoon and pulled the hook on a white and boated a 40 lb longfin at dusk. we anchored in 500' of water a hoped the chunk would produce as it had all week. if you hope in one had and poop in the other you know what you'll have at the end of the day. we chunked 4 really nice yellowfins to 70 lbs but not the bite we had expected. at about 11pm the sword rod screamed off and we were on a huge fish, the fish took us to the bow and around the pulpit several times. after an hour plus battle we were back in the cockpit ready to stick our swordfish when we finally saw the fish, it was a 350 plus hammerhead. what a let down. we decided to leave the canyon at dawn and returned home in severe thunderstorms, some of the sport boats that braved the weather did troll some fish on saturday morning. my hats go off to those guys, and i'd like to speak with the guys at noaa.

capts rick petschauer and dave bender took gene quigley ,dave goldman(barry's son) and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon tuesday aug 22nd. we trolled the deep in the afternoon and worked the birds to catch 13 yellowfins to 60 lbs and missed a white. we sent up on the chunk in 500' of water and withing 45 minutes had the fish on. we boated another 8 40-50 lb fish to reach our limit and for the remainder of the night we released fish. the guys used the new shimano butterfly jigging system and had 3 fish on almost all the time for the remainder of the night. all in all we estimate that we released another 40 plus fish. what a trip!

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took ken switzer of nyc and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon aug18/19. the troll was uneventful as three white marlin were in the spread and on was lost. the chunk was not much better as we went 1-2 on swordfish and 1-5 on 50 lb yellowfin. the weather was excellant, but the fushing was slow.

capt's jummy gahm and rick petschauer took robin raudenbush, ed vanwoudenburg of wall, and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon wednesday august 16th. upon arrival at the west wall capt jimmy found the water to be green so he trolled east and a few hours later found some birds working offshore. the fish came up and we went 4 for 6 on 40 pound longfins. before we could get all the lines back in another fish hit the flat line and we boated him. just before dark jimmy saw shearwaters working a bit further offshore and got a barage of 60 pound yellowfins, boating 5. we set up for the night on the spot, we had a sword rod sing off about 2am and could not stop the fish and broke the leader, even after starting up the motors and following the fish. a short while later the shark rod did the very same thing, both fish will remain a mystery. at five am we got our first tuna bite and boated a 70 lb yellowfin. up on the troll in the morning jimmy found the birds again and 6 rods went off, the fish were so thick that jimmy ran down from the wheelhouse and jigged a 60 pounder himself. after clearing up the cockpit we trolled another two hours with only one more bite, mr whitey was on for a few minutes and you know the rest. the bites came on reel seat jerry garcia bars and ballyhoo. congratulations to capts jimmy and rick, an awesome trip to say the least.

capt's jimmy gahm and kevin gerrity took carl dimenna of allentown, pa and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon sunday august 13th. we trolled 2 35lb yellowfins in the evening and caught a 140lb mako on the chunk. in the morning in sloppy seas we boated four more 35 lb yellowfins and headed in. all in all the chunk was dissapointing, but the guys had a great time.

capt's paul skuby and dave bender took bernie kipaluski of lakewood and his friends on a fluke trip wednesday august 9th. we started at the golfball and caught some shorts. the dogfish showed up so we ran south, all in all we boated 10 keepers to 4lbs and had many big blues in the 15lb class. the guys enjoyed their day off on a beautiful day.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took peter cort of hamburg,nj and friends on a day trip to the dip area on sunday august 6,2006. the red hote bite of the past week had cooled off but capt jimmy found some fish as we boated ten yellowfins to 40 lbs. most of the action was on reel seat green machine bars and ballyhoo.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took ron massari of branchburg, ronnie jr, gil and mike poon and gearge costa on a day troll to the hudson canyon sunday july 30th, 2006. our first bite was almost immediate and a 35pound yellowfin hit the deck, shortly there after we had non stop action and the fish got larger. all in all we had over 20 bites. we boated 8 fish the largest weighing 90 lbs that george fought for an hour, several other fish were in the 60-70 pound range as well. most of the action came on reel seat jerry garcia bars, and ballyhoo.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took jaimie boreniuos and friends to the hudson canyon friday july14th. upon arrival at 8pm we trolled a 35 pound yellowfin and set up on the spot for the night. we had no bites at night and saw no bait as well. we trolled east towards the dip in the morning and finally at noon we found some awesome life. we missed a white, five minutes later we missed a blue and then we saw a huge school of porpoise with friend tred barta catching fish. we trolled into the school and three fish hit, but only one was on. after an hour battle jaimie had 1 125-140lb allison in the boat. after several more attemps to hook up we headed for the barn. all in all it was a great trip.

capt's jimmy gahm, rick petschauer, jay monteverdi, and dave bender did a shake down crew trip to the hudson canyon friday july 7,2006. arriving at the hudson at 8:30 pm we trolled in the dark for about an hour just to look around. with only a 60' piece of poly rope to show for our efforts we decided it was time to start chunking. the night was fairly uneventful untill about 1am when a mako bit. jimmy fed him and the fight was on, after an arial show we boated a 110lb mako. we had no other bites and the squid were not around. we got up on the troll at 5am and it looked as though we were in the wrong place as we heard of a small bite of smaller yellowfins in the toms. well, at 10:30 am we got a four banger of 50lb yellowfins and boated three. an hour later we had a few more bites and boated one more. the fish hit reel seat green machine bars and swimming mullet in the wash. all in all we had a great day with great friends. we are looking forward to fishing offshore this year and we still have some openings available.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took jamie borenius of emerson and friends back to the same general area we fished saturday and found more company. we had no bites untill about 1pm when a nice thresher showed himself. jamie did a great job on the fish and after about an hour we boated a 200lb thresher. we hung around for about another hour when the dogfish showed up, so we headed for the barn. nice job jamie.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took john hanley of mass. out shrking in the brett bailet and mako mania tournament. we fished in the area of the glory hole and had no bite untill noon. we released an 80 lb mako at noon and a 1pm we lost a nice fish in the 200lb range. at about 2pm we fought and boated our third mako of the day and we weighed it in at 122lbs. the fish was not good enough for the tounament but the guys had a great time.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender took jimmy and joe sloan of kearny out for a bass trip sunday november 20th. this was a replacement trip, as the guys got blown out on their canyon trip in oct. we caught 25 slot bass all on ava jigs and three bonus fish as well. the guys had a great time as did jimmy and i. i would like to take this time to wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season and i would also like to thank eveyone for another great year on the jenny lee. the season was tough but when we got out the fishing was good. the wind didn't blow in october, "it sucked" jimmy, steven, rick, jay, matt, kevin, and sean would like to thank all our customers as well as all the offshore charter and sporties that made our year enjoyable. see you in 06 dave bender

capt's matt muzlay and kevin gerrity took dan lubeck of point pleasant on an overnighter to the hudson canyon thursday oct 20th. upon arrival at the hudson the water was cold, we spoke to a head boat who had been there overnight and he only had three fish. we then headed east to the dip and finally wound up in 70 degree water at the fishtails. the move although was quite a long one it paid off as we had three 70pound yellowfins in the boat by 9pm the water went from 70-67 and when that happened we lost the fish. at 4am the water slid back and we caught four more including a 150lb bigeye. the guys are still fishing but due to the forecast and long ride home, we will be packing it it very shortly.

capt's dave bender and rick petschauer took billy nye of syracuse new york and friends on an overnighter to the spencer canyon on tues oct 4th. we trolled 3-5 on 40lb longfins before setting up on the chunk. by the time our anchor came tight we had already marked some fish and within ten minutes we had our first bite, it was an 80lb swordfish. shortly thereafter we caught up until 1 am putting 18 55-70 lb yellowfins in the boat as well as 11 mahi's. at sunup we headed for the barn and it looks like we'll be there for a while. just when the fishing gets hot the weather gets crummy.

capt's jimmy gahm and sean skuby took greg shapiro of philly and friends on an over nighter to the hudson canyon friday sept 30th, it was only our third trip to the hudson in sept this year. we had fish on the troll right away as capt jimmy had five 40 lb longfins in the box as well as a thirty pound mahin by dusk. the chunk was as expected, we boated a 60lb yellowfin on the meat and jigged a40 lb longfin on the shimano butterfly jig. back up on the troll in the moring was a bit slower but we did have a few bites. the boys ended up with 11 longfins, the yellowfin and mahi.

capt's dave bender and rick petschauer took dave gradzilla of bridgewater and friends on an overnighter to the lindenkohl canyon monday sept 19th. we boated 13 yellowfins to 60lbs and one 40 pound longfin. the troll in the afternoon was slow for us and we left early tuesday morning in 25knot southwest winds. the water is still 78 degrees and loaded with sargasso weed.

capts jimmy gahm and jay monteverdi took joe and gerry zagorski of fords new jersey and friends on nan overnighter to the lidenkohl canyon sunday sept 18th. they trolled 1-2 on 40 lb longfins before setting up on the chunk. although they marked the fish fairly heavy they were quite shy we did manage to baot 14 yellowfins bewteen 60-70 lbs and the guys had a great time as always

09/13-14/05

capt's dave bender and rick petschauer took dave zack of rumson and friends on an overnighter to the carteret canyon of tuesday sept 13th. the troll bite was once again non existant as we only heard of one tuna being boated and one wahoo dropped at the boat. we anchored up in 79 degree water and had at it. we jumped a small swordfish at about 8pm and that would be it for us unitll 5am when the man came through. the rod lapped over and we were getting spooled, with less than 30 feet left on the reel we got off the ball and the battle was on. the fish went through five guys and after an hour we had a 135lb allison in the boat. the fishing was good for almost everyone but us, i guess i was in the wrong spot. the good news was that the guys went home with a good amount of tuna and hurricane ophelia stayed far away.

capt's matt muzlay and kevin gerrity took john donahoe of barnaget and friends to the toms canyon for an overnighter sept 8th. we didn't bother troll the weeds we set up on the chunk right away. we never got the mad dog bite but we did pick fish all night. we ended up with 14 yellowfins to 50lbs and came home at dawn.

capt's dave bender and rick petschauer took paul kelly of parsippany and friends to the toms canyon for an overnighter sept 7th. we gave up the troll early as the weed was unbearable, it turned out to be a good decision as we went 1-2 on 40lb yellowfins right away. our next bite at 8pm was a 80lb swordfish. we had a slow bite untill midnight and at 2am we started catching well. we ended up with 19 yellowfins all in the 40lb class. i am bring the lawn mower on todays trip to trim the weeds so we can troll.

they can't all be good
capts jimmy gahm and steve vanbergen took emidio and paul pinho of cranford on an overnighter to the hudson canyon sunday sept 4th. as it turns out this was a huge mistake as the bite had turned off. we trolled some mahi before dark and set up where we had them the past few trips, but our luck had run out. we chunked one 40 lb longfin and a 50lb white marlin. we also had a small mako and released him. the morning troll in 8' seas was sloppy but the bigeye came knocking at 9am, unfortunately the reel got knocked into free spool and you know the rest. it was our worst trip of 2005 and we hope our last. our apologies to emidio and paul for making the wrong decision.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took john and karen graham of saugreties,new york and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon friday sept 1st. the troll was uneventful as only two small mahi were caught. the night chunk produced 11 yellowfins with the highlight being a 90lb allison. we had several fish in the 80lb class. the charter stopped fishing at 4am due to fatigue and they felt they had enough fish for the table. unfortunatley the northwest predicted came in hard and we had a slow ride home.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve vanbergen took tom eagle of toms river and friends on an overnighter to the toms canyon sunday aug 28th. they trolled one nice mahi and jumped off a white marlin before setting up on the chunk. they had fish immediatley and picked all night. by 2am they were limited out with fish to 60lbs. unfortunatley katrina looks like she's shutting us down for the remainder of the week. let's hope the fish are still there by the weekend.

capt's dave bender and john surowich took steve westerkon of rockland county, ny and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon fri aug 25th. the afternoon troll bite was uneventful except for a white marlin that ate two baits, but could not find the hook. we started chunking south of the fleet and had a "small" swordfish right away. after releasing him we went 1-2 on 50 lb yellowfins. we than moved to the south where we heard of some action, but not for us. it wasn't until 5am that the help of capt mark on the canyon runner 2 had us drift threw his slick. we boated five 100lb yellowfins and broke off just as many. my thanks to the boys on the canyon runner two. we trolled for just an hour in the morning and headed for the barn. despite a slow night steve and the boys worked all night long and my hat goes off to them.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took ed vanwoodenburg and robin raudenbush of wall twp on an overnighter to the hudson canyon tues aug 23rd. the afternoon troll was uneventful with only a small blue marlin be hooked and lost. the chunk was somewhat slow with eight tuna's being caught. 6 yellowfins to 70bs and two 40 lb longfins. we fought a very large swordfish for an hour before he chaffed off. the morning troll was a huge let down as we covered alot of ground with no results.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve venbergen took john orlowicz of lacy twp and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon sunday august 21st. they trolled 0ne 40 lb longfin and seven yellowfins to 50 lbs on reel seat spreader bars before setting up on the chunk. the chunk bite was red hot as they had all the fish they could handle up to 60lbs. the big fish were not present but the action was hot and heavy. we switched over to jigs for the rest of the night and the guys had a ball. the jigged fish were on custom shimano rods and reels from the reel seat, with special butterfly jigs, the retrieval rate is fantastic on these reels. the guys were catching 50 lbd fish in a few short minutes.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve vanbergen took charlie lesho, john altamare of lyndhurst and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon friday aug. 19th. we trolled a forty pound longfin and 50 pound yellowfin in the evening before steeing up on the west side for the chunk. we had fish immediatley, we jigged one and caught on on bait. the bite died and we wound up catching a total of six yellowfins on the chunk. the morning troll was uneventful and the guys came home with eight fish.

capt's jimmy gahm, steve venbergen, and kevin gerrity took Angelo Cinquegrana of edison, his dad and friends to the hudson for a quick turnaround trip aug17-18. capt. jimmy hit the fish right over the head as he stopped right on top of them.we had fish all night long with close to 50 bites. at false light the charter was asleep except for angelo and the guys hooked up with big nasty allisons to 200lbs. kevin jigged two of the allisons and we boated six of them to 175lbs. the guys were too busy to take pictures but angelo did, so i'll try to post them soon. all in all we are heading in with 27 yellowfins to 175lbs. what a trip for the guys, they certainly deserve the good fortune. nice work jimmy, steven, and kev

capts jimmy gahm and steve venbergen took gerry and joe zagorski of fords new jersey and friends on an overnighter wed/thurs aug 16th. upon hitting the west wall of the hudson they immediately caught two 40 lb longfins.after drilling the area only a single yellowfin was caught before setting up on the chunk. we had fish almost immediately as yellowfins to over 100 lbs were fought and lost. we did catch and release an estimated 800lb tiger shark as well as one about 250. we caught a 130-150lb swordfish as well as some 60 lb yellowfins. the guys also battled an allison tuna for quite some time and at the boat the fish went ballistic and broke a calcutta gaff. we didn't catch a blue but at 9am he came knocking but didn't bite.

capts dave bender and steve vanbergen took carl dimenna of allentown,pa and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon friday aug12 and sat aug 13th. we trolled two small yellowfins east of the square untill dark, then went 3-4 on the chunk with fish to 60 lbs. in the am we trolled right around the area and boated two very nice 60 lb yellowfins. after moving just offshore the very big man in the blue suit came knocking for the fourth time this week. the rod lapped over and the fish jumped like a wild man. we backed down and chased him for two hours. at the end of the fight we had the largest blue marlin to date on the jenny lee, 700lbs. what an amazing week for steven and i, we released four large blues in three trips.

capts dave bender and steve vanbergen took danny eaton of west springfield, mass and friends to the hudson canyon for an overnighter wed/thurs aug 10th/11th. within five minutes of lines in on wednesday we had a white marlin on, but pulled the hook. several hours later the man in the blue suit came knocking, and all hell broke loose. the fish put on an amazing display and after and hour and ten minutes george alevras had his first ever blue marlin, the fish was over 500lbs. after a slow evening troll we set up for the chunk and caught five 40 lb longfins and 5 yellowfins up to 60bs. we also boated a swordfish and several gaffer mahi's. at sunrise on thursday we trolled a huge bull dolphin in the 30 lb class and at 8am the second blue of the trip showed up in the spread. for over an hour, danny eaton battled a 350-400 lb blue marlin and we released him as well. i told the guys never to go fishing again.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took vinny scappaticcio of parsippany and friends on a day trip to the hudson canyon. we went 2-4 on thirty five pound yellowfins in the morning and we went 1-2 on white marlin as well. at 1:30 pm the man in the blue suit came knocking and after a nice show we released a 200lb blue marlin. it was at that point we decided to spend another half hour trying for some more tuna, well we got lucky again as at 2:55 we went 5-7 on forty pound longfin. vinny came home with seven tuna, a nice mahi, a white release and a blue release. what a day for the boys.

capt's jimmy gahm and dave bender ran the jenny lee on her first canyon trip of the 2005 season, with carl perez of ortly beach and his three sons and grandson. we put em in at the tip of the toms and saw some nice marks, but could only muster one 40 pound longfin in our efforts. after trolling morth for hours we steamed to the hudson and found some nicer water. it was decided we would stay later to try to put a catch together for carl as it was his birthday. well, happy birthday carl, we ran over a pack of longfins and went 7-7 on one pass. we ran home in flat calms seas.

capt dave bender and paul skuby took mke murn sr. and jr to the hook for a day of bass fishing. although the day was hot and calm the fishing was slow. everyboat was having a tough day. we managed just four bass to 18 lbs and all the blues you wanted. the hot 85 degrees and sun made it al nice beginning to summer.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took emidio and paul pinho of cranford to the lidenkohl canyon for a day trip on friday oct 29th. arriving at the canyon at daybreak we found a hard break from 58-69degree water. we set up in the hot water and had out first bite about 8am. we went one for two on 50 lb longfins. after that we did nothing so we moved up to the carteret. we set up in 60 degree water and caught a samall bluefin right away. after hours of nothing we saw a dragger and got right behing him, we immediatley hooked two fish but broke one off right away, we fought the second fish on a 7foot calstar rod with a shimano trinadad on 30lb line for over an hour. paul handled the rod like a pro a was rewarded with a 135lb bluefin. at dusk we pulled our rods and just before we pulled in the last rod it went off, low and behold it was a bluefish. that's when we really knew it was time to go home.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve vanbergen took charles risner of newton and friends on a day trip to the hudson canyon on monday oct18,2004. we had a very small weather window(about the size of a postage stamp) so we opted for the day trip. since our last day trip was a slammer we thought we'd be ok. upon reaching the edge we found the water to be cold and dirty, the good news was that the bluefins were still chomping. the boys fought and released medium bluefins all day and at 4pm steven harpooned a 275lb slob. the longfins and the yellowfins we were catching last week were conspicious by there absence. we don't know when we're going to get out again, but i guess we'll have to start all over again looking for the fish.

capt's dave bender, steve vanbergen, and mike pelicane took dan battista of saddle brook and friends to the hudson canyon. we left at 4am on a rare day chunk to avoid the impending bad weather. it turned out to be a great decision. we arrived at the hudson at 8am and had our first fish on at 8:20. we put a dozen longfins in the boat and then got a huge bite. dan fought what turned oyt to be a small giant bluefin for about 45 minutes before steve and i assisted. we fought the fish for over two hours and finally had him laid up when the leader chafed. we did get to see the monster and estimated him to be 300-350. it was quite a battle on 50lb stand up gear with 60 lb florocarbon leader. capt mike backed down on the fish for over two hours. after taking a break we decided to go down to light leader to insure no more monsters. at about 3pm all hell broke loose and we boated another 17 fish, mostly 50 lb longfins but some 80 lb yellowfins were mixed in. all in all we had 29 tunas and came home in flat calm seas. what a great trip, all in a days work.

capts sal rumbolo and mike pelicane took paul kelly of staten island to the toms canyon on saturday oct9th. our plan was to catch the fish and head in early to beat the 25knot northwest. oh well, the best laid plans. we went to the toms due to the fact that i had my fish during the afternoon on friday in the hudson, and we heard the bite was in the toms fairly well at night. we set up on a five degree break on the hot side and thought we would get the bite. we were wrong, we had two fish by morning. i called the boat and told them to go to the hudson and try to put something together for the guys. so we made the 30 mile trip to the elbow. well as luck would have it we got in to late and never had a touch. by 11am it was screaming and we set sail for the barn. we will surely make it up to paul and the guys, they were great as always. i thought they were called two way radios? i guess not. i'll have to get ours checked for reception.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve vanbergen took russ thistle of toms river and friends to the hudson canyon on sunday october 3rd. we waited for the ocean to lay down as the northeast flags were screaming 25knots. we anchoed up right away and the yellowfins bit hard. we boated 10 fish to eighty pounds but it died as quickly as it started. we took the guys to the bacardi area in the morning and boated a 100lb bluefin and released several others. all in all the guys had a great trip.

capt dave bender and steve vanbergen took john lehmann of cedar grove and friends on an overnighter to the hudson canyon friday oct 1st. we trolled two 50 lb longfins before setting up for the night. we boated 11 lonfins on the chunk until midnight and it shut down. just when we thought we wouldn't get a yellowfin bite, we got a shot and out six in the boat. by the time we left we had 11 50 lb longfins and 9 60-80lb yellowfins. we also had two tile fish and a dozen mahi.

capt's sal rumbolo and rick petschauer took marty mcginley of jersey city and friends on an overnighter to the hudson on wednesday sept 22/23. upon arriving at dusk they anchored right away and before the anchor was tight we had two fish on. we thought we would load the boat but the night was slow. however, the morning bite was red hot as they went 10 for 20 on 60-80 lb yellowfins. we stayed on the hook untill 9:30 am fishing with light leader.

capt dave bender and steve vanbergen took joe zagorski of fords and friends on an overnighter to the carteret canyon on tuesday sept 21st. we made the wrong move by heading south as the hudson opened up that night but we made the best of it. we trolled a 50 pound longfin tuesday afternoon and missed two thers. setting up on the chunk we went two for three on 60 lb yellowfins. the highlight of the trip was a monster swordfish that was fought for two hours by joe and russ shultz of millstone. the fish was between 10-12' long estimated at 350-400lbs. it was the largest swordfish steven has ever seen. the battle ensued for two hours when at 7' from the boat he made a short run under the wheels and you know the rest, that's how he got to be 400lbs. we trolled one more longfin and took a nice ride home. the guys were shot to say the least.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took rick levin and friends who flew all the way from wisconsin to fish with the jenny lee. all week rick was concerned about "ivan" and it looked like we wouldn't get out, but on wednesday there looked like a small window so i told the guys to fly out. we were on our way when i got a call on the sat phone from the canyon runner about a longfin bite in the lindenkohl. we got on there at the tail end but just as we started to troll we had a white up and on for a breif encounter. we worked the area alone and finally found the fish. we boated 8 longfins to 50 pounds. we headed to the carteret for the night and went 8 for 10 on the chunk with yellowfins to 75lbs. we also boated a small swordfish in the 90lb range. at daybreak the wind was screaming out of the southest and we let the remnants of ivan push us home. the boys took 16 tunas and a swordfish back to the midwest.

THE AFTERNOON TROLL WAS VERY SLOW AS ONLY TWO 50LB LONGFINS WERE CAUGHT. HOWEVER LUCK WAS ON OUR SIDE. WE SET UP AT 7:30 PM AND THREE RODS WENT OFF AT 7:45. WE WENT 6 FOR 13 IN THE FIRST HOUR AND THE PICK WAS ALL NIGHT LONG. IN THE MORNING 18 YELLOWFINS TO 80LBS WERE CAUGHT. WE ONLY TROLLED FOR AN HOUR ON MONDAY AND WENT ONE FOR THREE ON LONGFINS.

capt's sal rumbolo and kevin gerrity took dan lubeck of point pleasant and friends to the lindenkohl canyon for an overnighter on wed/thurs sept1/2nd. they didn't have all the lines in the water when two rods went off and they went one for two on 50 lb longfins. after circling a hi-flyer mr whitey came up crashing a reel seat spreader bar, but he wouldn't have at it. the rest of the troll was uneventful. the boys set up in the deep and drifted all night with a ripping three knot current. they went one for two on 70 ln yellowfins buit the highlight was capt kevin's "double secret" shark rig. after watching the rig for seven long hours, capt kevin wasn't dissapointed. the rod went screaming off and the fight was on. the huge mako jumped several times right at the boat soaking the crew. after a short time the mako spit the hook. the moring troll was tough but the guys really worked hard and put a catch together. at noon they headed home with six nice tunas and several mahi on ice. the ride home was a bit bumpy in the northeast blow.

Capt's Jimmy Gahm and Steve VanBergen too k Mitch Feather of Short Hills and friends to the lidenkohl canyon for an overnighter on sunday august 29/30th. upon arrival we got a call from "the snake" on the jersey giant that the bite was on. capt jimmy trolled eight yellowfins and longfins to 7o lbs untill dark. with eight fish in the box the pressure was off.we drifted in the deep and picked all night, we added 10 yellowfins to 75lbs in flat calm seas. in the morning we had one last shot at the longfins and the guys said" take us home" a great time was had by all.

capt's dave bender and steve van bergen took glen zeigler of monmouth beach and friends to the hudsopn canyon for an overnighter friday august 27/28th. upon heading to the south we got a call into the hudson on the tail end of a tuna bite. we boated three 75pound yellowfins and four 50 pound longfins before dark. we set up in 550" of water and the bait was thick. the boys bailed the huge 14" squids all night but we only had two tuna bites landing one 60 pound yellowfin. we had hoped that the morning troll would be as productive as the previous days but it wasn't to happen. we trolled untill 11am untill or first bite, and we went one for two on seventy pound yellofins. we headed home with nine nice tunas on ice and the guys were very happy.

capt's dave bender and steve vanbergen took robin raudenbush and ed vanwoodenberg of "ges" o0f wall twp to the lindenkohl canyon tuesday aughust 24/25 for an overnighter. the weatherman said 10-15knots but when we left it was a solis 25knots northeast. the guys braved the seas and just as we hit some calmer seas we were called in to the carteret canyon flats to troll 4 for five on 60 lb yellowfins. after the bite slowed we made our way to the lindy. we chunked onl;y one fish out of nine bites and on wednesday trolled two more 50 lb longfins. a large blue marlim was in the spread but not biting.

capt's jimmy gahm and steve van bergan took tom eagle of brick and friends to the lindenkohl canyon for a sunday/ monday overnighter august 22/23,2004. they trolled 5 yellowfins to seventy five lbs sunday afternoon and when they set up for the chunk they had a seventy pound yellowfin right away. the rest of the night was dead but at 6am " the mad dog" was on as they boated a dozen more fish to 8olbs. they stayed on the anchor untill 9am and began releasing fish.

CAPT'S JIMMY GAHM AND STEVE VENBERGAN TOOK FLOYD HOOD OF NEWBURGH NEW YORK AND FRIENDS TO THE LINDENKOHL CANYON FOR AN OVERNIGHTER TUESDAY AUG17/18TH.UPON ARRIVING AT THE TIP THEY ALMOST IMMEDIATLEY BOATED A SEVENTY POUND YELLOWFIN ON THE TROLL AS WELL AS A 25 POUND MAHI. THE REST OF THE EVENING WAS QUITE EXCITING AS THEY BOATED ANOTHER YELLOWFIN AND LOST AN ESTIMATED 80LB WHITE MARLIN. AT DUSK AN ESTIMATED 800 POUND BLUE MARLIN HIT THE "WFB" LINE. CAPT JIMMY SAID IT WAS THE LARGEST BLUE HE HAD EVER SEEN. AFTER CRASHING THE LURE IT DIDN'T GET HOOKED AND HE'S STILL SWIMMING. THE CHUNK PRODUCED TWO FOR THREE ON 70LB YELLOWFINS AND THE FIRST SWORDFISH OF 2004. THE SWORD WAS 100LBS. AT DAYBREAK THEY GOT BACK ON THE TROLL AND HIT THE LONGFINS HARD. ANOTHER DOZEN FISH WERE CAUGHT. ALL IN ALL IN WAS AN OUTSTANDING TRIP.

THE FIRST MARLIN ACTUALLY WAS LOST AT THE BOAT BUT WE WERE RELEASING HIM ANYWAY. THE GUYS WERE GREAT AND THE TRIP WAS AWESOME.

WE STARTED AT THE TOMS AND TROLLED THE FIVE HUNDRED LINE TO THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE HUDSON WHERE WE LOCATED A SCHOOL OF YELLOWFINS. WE CAUGHT 25 SHORTS AND BOATED THREE NICE FISH TO 70 LBS. AT 3PM THE MAN IN THE BLUE SUIT CAME CALLING AND WE HOOKED A FOUR HUNDRED POUND BLUE MARLIN, ONLY TO LOSE HIM SHORTLY THERE AFTER. ALL I ALL JAY HAD ONE HELL OF A TRIP.

THEY HAD ACTION THROUGHOUT THE DAY IN BEAUTIFUL BLUE WATER. THEY BROKE OFF A MONSTER MAKO, JUMPED A TWO HUNDRED POUNDER AND RELEASED TWO 100 POUNDERS. ON SUNDAY JUNE 20 THEY TOOK JAMIE BORENIUS OF EMERSON AND FRIENDS TO THE SAME SPOT IN THE MAKO MANIA TOURNAMENT. THE WATER FROM SATURDAY HAD MOVED OUT BUT THEY STILL RELEASED FIVE BLUE SHARKS AND A 100 LB MAKO.

WE DRIFTED AND CAUGHT ALMOST RIGHT AWAY. THE YELLOWFINS WERE SMALL, 40-50 LBS. WE CAUGHT ONE LONGFIN AND A DOZEN YELLOWFINS. THE WIND PICKED UP AT NOON AND THE FISHING GOT TOUGHER AS WE COULD NOT HOLD THE FISH. WE THREW THE PARACHUTE TO TRY TO SLOW THE DRIFT DOWN A BIT BUT THE FISHING GOT SLOWER. WE PICKED UP AND RAN HOME IN CRAPPY CONDITIONS AND GOT HOME AT 8:30 PM. THIS MAY VERY WELL HAVE BEEN OUR LAST TRIP FOR 2003. WE USUALLY DO A CREW TRIP BUT THE WEATHER AND THE FISHING ARE SUSPECT

ARRIVING ON THE EAST NOTCH AT 1:30 PM THEY WERE INTO THE BLUEFINS RIGHT AWAY. THEY BOATED A 225LB FISH AND RELEASED SEVERAL OTHERS. A ROGUE LONGFIN WAS BOATED ALSO AND THE BOYS THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS IT WAS GOING TO FINALLY HAPPEN. WE WAITED ALL NIGHT AND NOTHING, AT 3AM WE MADE A MOVE SOUTH WHERE WE HAD THEM THE DAY BEFORE AND WE CAUGHTA YELLOWFIN RIGHT AWAY. THE EARLY MORNING BITE WAS NO EXISTANT SO WE MOVED EVEN FURTHER SOUTH AND FOUND SOME PRETTY WATER. THE FLAT CALM SEAS AND 80 DEGREE TEMPS KEPT THE GUYS WORKING THE LINES AND IT PAID OFF. WE PICKED LATE MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON AND CAUGHT NINE YELLOWFINS. THE TRIP WAS A MARATHON BUT IT WAS PERHAPS THE LAST GLIMPSE OF SUMMER FOR SEVEN MONTHS.

NOT ONLY WAS THE WEATHER EXCELLANT BUT SO WAS THE FISHING. THE FISHING WAS SO GOOD THAT WE FILMED TWO SHOWS FOR THE SPRING OF 2004. WE FIRST WENT TO THE BLUEFIN GROUNDS AND BOATED ONE 200LB BLUEFIN AND RELEASED A DOZEN OTHERS. THE GUYS WERE SHOT AS THEY NORMALLY FISH FOR KING SALMON. IN THE MORNING WE MADE A MOVE SOUTH TO FIND SOME YELLOWFINS WHICH HAVE BEEN ABSENT FROM THE CANYON. WELL, AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT WE FOUND THEM AND HAD NINE MORE BITES TO FILM A SECOND SHOW. WE HAD A SUPER TIME FISHING WITH JOHN AND RICK AND HOPE THAT WE CAN GET THEM BACK NEXT YEAR FOR SOME TROLLING VIDEO.

AFTER OUR FIRST 25 MILES IT WAS QUITE APPARENT THAT NOAA WAS DEAD WRONG WITH THE FORECAST AS WE WERE IN HEAVY WINDS(35KNOTS) AND SEAS. WE KEPT GOING DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SEAS WERE BEHIND US AND TURING BACK WAS GOING TO BE AN ASS KICKING UPON ANHORING IN THE CANYON WE WERE IN 8-12" SEAS AND IT WAS BLOWING A SUSTAINED 35-40KNOTS. WE HOOKED UP ALMOST RIGHT AWAY WITH A LARGE BLUEFIN AND IT WENT THROUGH ALL THE GUYS. AFTER AN HOUR PLUS BATTLE A 200LB BLUEFIN HIT THE DECK. AFTER THAT IT WAS NON STOP ACTION WITH BLUEFINS. THE YELLOWFINS THAT WERE SO PREVILANT ON JIMMY'S TRIP WERE GONE. WE PUT SIX MEDIUM BLUEFINS IN THE BOAT AND LISTENED TO THE YANKEE GAME ON XM RADIO. THE MAN UPSTAIRS WAS KIND TO US AS THE WIND LAID DOWN AT 3AM AND WE HAD A GREAT RIDE HOME. THE GUYS WERE TROOPERS AND HANDLED THE CONDITIONS THE BEST THEY COULD. I THINK THEY ALL WENT TO GOLF WORLD FOR NEW CLUBS AFTER THAT TRIP.

TWO 25LB MAHI WERE ALSO ADDED. ANOTHER SHOT CAME AT 10PM, THIS TIME ON LIVE MACKERAL THAT WERE JIGGED FOR BAIT. A TOTAL OF FOUR BLUEFINS TO 225LBS AND 18 YELLOWFINS WERE CAUGHT. ANOTHER 10 FISH WERE RELEASED UNTILL 2AM AND THE GUYS WENT TO BED.

WE ANCHORED UP ON THE EAST WALL WHERE WE HAD THEM BEFORE THE BLOW AND HAD THEM RIGHT AWAY. TWO 60LB YELLOWFINS WERE IN THE BOAT AFTER THE FIRST HOUR AND SEVERAL MORE WERE CAUGHT UP UNTILL 9PM. WE ALSO BOATED A SMALL SWORDFISH ABOUT 90LBS. AFTER HOURS OF NOTHING WE DECIDED TO DRIFT THE EAST WALL IN VERY LIGHT WINDS AND WE CAUGHT ANOTHER 5 YELLOWFINS TO 70 LBS. AT DAYLIGHT WE STAYED ON THE CHUNK AS THE TROLLERS WERE NOT CATCHING, WE PUT A FEW MORE IN AND HEADED FOR HOME IN CALM SEAS. THE WEATHERMAN HAS CURSED THE UPCOMING WEEKEND, SO WE DON'T KNOW WHEN WE CAN FISH AGAIN.

THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT, AS WE NEVER SAW A RIPPLE THE ENTIRE RIDE OUT. UOPN STOPPING TO CHUNK THE EAST WALL WE HAD TWO FISH ON RIGHT AWAY AND THE SKUNK WAS OUT. AFETR SEVERAL HOURS WITHOUT A TOUCH WE MADE A MOVE ACROOS THE DEEP TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE. WITHIN A MILE WE GOT OUR PROP STUCK IN A LARGE ROPE AND WERE IN TROUBLE. CAPT RICK TO THE RESCUE, RICK PUT ON THE MASK AND FINS AND JUMPED IN 67 DEGREE WATER WITH A RIPPING FULL MOON CURRENT AND CUT THE LINE OFF. UPON REACHING THE OTHER SIDE WE SET UP IN 600' OF WATER AND AT 1AM THE BITE WAS ON. 17 YELLOWFINS HIT THE DECK AND ONE 20LB MAHI. THE TRIP WAS GREAT AND WE HAD THE NORTHEAST ON OUR BACKS ENROUTE TO THE "BARN

CAPT. NICK MILLS AND SAL RUMBOLO TOOK MATT CORDOVA AND FRIENDS FROM ACCUTEST LABS IN DAYTON TO THE LINDENKOHL CANYON FOR AND OVERNIGHTER MONDAY SEPT. 29TH. AFTER FIGHTING A STIFF NORTHWEST WIND THEY PUT TWO LONGFINS IN THE BOX WITHIN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES ON THE TROLL. AFTER SETTING UP FOR THE CHUNK THEY IMMEDIATLEY WENT TWO FOR THREE ON 50LB YELLOWFINS. BY 9PM THE MAD DOG WAS ON AND THEY WERE LIMITED OUT. THE WATER HAS COOLED CONSIDERABLY TO 70 DEGREES AS THE HOT WATER IS SLIDING SOUTH.

THEY IMEDIATLEY HAD THE FISH IN THE SLICK AS THEY WENT TWO FOR FOUR ON YELLOWFINS. THEY HAD A STEADY BITE ALL NIGHT LONG BUT ONLY MANAGED TO PUT A FEW MORE IN THE BOAT. THE MORING TROLL PRODUCED ANOTHER NINE YELLOWFINS TO TOTAL 15 FISH TO THE BOAT.

CAPT JIMMY OPTED FOR THE SOUTHERN CANYONS TO GET AWAY FROM THE CROWD, AND IT PAID OFF. THE TROLL WAS GREAT AS 30 LB MAHI WERE LANDED AS WELL AS LONGFINS AND YELLOWFINS. THE CHUNK PROVIDED PLENTY OF ACTION AS THE GUYS WERE 9 FOR 18. THE WATER WAS PRISTINE BLUE AND THE CONDTIONS WERE GREAT THE MORING TROLL PRODUCED AGAIN, A MIX OF LONGFINS AND YELLOWFINS. THE FISHING WAS SLOW TO SAY THE LEAST AS ONLY FOUR 50-60 LB YELLOWFINS WERE BOATED OUT OF EIGHT TOTAL BITES. THE WEATHER WAS FLAT CALM, HOWEVER IT LOOKS LIKE THAT WAS OUR LAST TRIP OF THE WEEK AS THE NORTHEAST WINDS ARE GOING TO HOWL.

THE LARGEST FISH WAS A LONGFIN TOPPING OUT AT 70BS.

THE WEATHERMAN WAS WRONG AND THE LIGHT WINDS WERE 20-25 KNOTS ALL NIGHT. CAPT JIMMY AND RICK HIT THE FISH ON THE HEAD AND BOATED A DOZEN FISH TO EIGHTY POUNDS. THE ROUGH CONDITIONS CAUSED THEM TO LOSE ANOTHER HALF DOZEN. THE SUNDAY MONDAY TRIP IS IN QUESTION AS THE WEATHER MAN IS SUSPECT.

CAPT'S JIMMY GAHM AND RICK PETSCHAUER TOOK PAUL KREGER OF BRICKTOWN AND FRIENDS ON THEIR FIRST EVER OVERNIGHTER. WE WENT BACK TO THE HUDSON CANYON AND STARTED TO TROLL ABOUT 4PM. TWO MAHI TWO LONGFINS AND A YELLOWFIN WERE TROLLED BEFORE WE SET UP ON THE WEST WALL FOR THE NIGHT. AFTER BOATING THE FIRST YELLOWFIN A DEEP ROD WENT OFF AND IT WAS SMOKIN. WE HAD TO GET OFF THE BALL AND CHASE THE FISH, SOMETIMES WITH BOTH ENGINES IN REVERSE. WE COULD NOT STOP THE FISH AND WERE LEFT WITH A TOUGH DECISION, DO WE PUT THE WOOD TO HIM AND BREAK THE LINE OR DO WE THROW THE ROD OVER WITH ANOTHER 50 HOOKED TO IT? WELL, JIMMY AND RICK DID JUST THAT AND THE FISH TOOK THE ENTIRE FIRST SPOOL AND HALF OF THE SECOND. AFTER ANOTHER HOUR AND EVERY ANGLER ON THE BOAT AT THE ROD THE LINE PARTED AND THE FISH WAS LOST. AFTER SETTING BACK UP WE CAUGHT ANOTHER 8 YELLOWFINS OUT OF 15 BITES. THE CHARTER WAS EXHAUSTED SO WE WENT HOME AT DAYBREAK.

THEY TROLLED 1LONGFIN AND SIX YELLOWFINS TO 80 LBS BEFORE SETTING UP FOR THE NIGHT. THE NIGHT BITE WAS SLOW AS THEY WENT 2 FOR 5 ON YELLOWFINS, BUT ADDED 5 MAHI TO 30LBS AND A 90LB SWORDFISH. THE CHUNK BITE WAS SOMEWHAT DISSAPOINTING AS COMPARED TO THE LAST FEW TRIPS. THE MORNING TROLL PRODUCED TWO 80LB YELLOWFINS THAT HAD WHOLE SKIPJACKS IN THEIR BELLIES. ASIDE FROM SOME BROKEN OFF FISH THE GUYS HAD AN OUTSTANDING TIME.

ALTHOUGH THE FISH WERE ON TOP AND BALLING BAIT THEY WERE VERY HARD TO HOOK. ONLY A HANDFUL OF BOATS CAUGHT. WE HAD A DOULBLE HEADER OF MAHI TO 20 LBS. WE TROLLED AWAY FROM THE FLEET DOWN TO THE EAST ELBOW IN SEARCH OF SOME MORE COOPERATIVE FISH. THE ONLY SIGN OF LIFE THE ENTIRE TROLL WAS A PACK OF PILOT WHALES. CAPT. JIMMY GAHM TOOK HIS BOAT THE TOYAHOLIC BACK TO THE GROUNDS ON SUNDAY TO ENCOUNTER THE SAME FRUSTRATION. FISH WERE BUSTING EVERYWHERE BUT DID NOT SHOW INTERSET TO THE TROLLED BAITS. REPORTS OF FISH INSHORE AS FAR AS THE CHICKEN CANYON WERE COMMON ON THE RADIO ON SUNDAY.

THE FISHING WAS VERY GOOD, HOWEVER WE HEARD THAT THE VERY NEXT DAY THE FISHING WAS POOR. I GUESS IT WAS OUR TURN TO GET LUCKY.

THE EVENING TROLL PROVIDED FOUR LONGFINS BEFORE WE SET UP ON THE CHUNK. PERFECT CONDITIONS ALLOWED US TO DRIFT THE WEST WALL ALL NIGHT IN CALM SEAS. ONCE AGAIN THE FISHING WAS SLOW AND THE READINGS WERE NON EXISTANT. STEVE SENFF WORKED HIS LINES ALL NIGHT AND WAS REWARDED WITH THE FIRST FISH OF THE NIGHT AT 3AM, A 70LB YELLOWFIN. SHORTLY AFTER A SECOND FISH HIT THE DECK FOR A LONG NIGHT FOR ONLY TWO BITES. IT TURNS OUT WE HAD A BETTER NIGHT THAN MOST. THE MORNING TROLL LOOKED PROMISING AS A LONGFIN WAS HOOKED IMMEDIATLEY WHILE SETTING OUT THE LINES. HOWEVER,A THREE HOUR LAG CAME BEFORE OUR NEXT BITE. CAPT JIMMY GAHM FOUND THE FISH AS THE NEXT TWO HOURS PROVIDED NON STOP TROLLING AS 13 LONFINS AND ONE NICE 75LB YELLOWFIN WERE BOATED. A TOTAL OF TWENTY FISH WERE CAUGHT AND THE GUYS WERE TIRED.

AFTER SEARCHING FOR HOURS ON THE TROLL WE HAD A LONGFIN ON THE TROLL ON THE EAST ELBOW. WE SET UP FOR THE NIGHT AND DIDN'T HAVE OUR FIRST BITE UNTILL 4AM WHEN A 60LB YELLOWFIN HIT THE DECK. AFTER THAT THREE MORE TO 70 LBS CAME OVER THE SIDE AND WE GOT BACK ON THE TROLL AT 7AM SATURDAY. A LARGE YELLOWFIN WAS TROLLED AT BROUGHT BOATSIDE ONLY TO BE LOST ON A PULLED HOOK AT THE BOAT. THE FISH WAS IN THE 80LB CLASS.

CAPT'S DAVE BENDER,RICK PETSCHAUER AND NICK MILLS TOOK SHAWN MELNAR AND JIM FREEMYER TO THE MID ATLANTIC 500,000 TOURNAMENT IN CAPE MAY THIS PAST WEEK.ONDAY WE WERE OWE FOR TWO ON WHITE MARLIN WHEN THE MAN IN THE BLUE SUIT CAME KNOCKING.AFTER CRASHING TWO BALLYOO BAITS NICK FED HIM A THIRD BAIT AND THE FIGHT WAS ON. SHAWN FOUGHT THE FISH FOR OVER AN HOUR ONLY TO HAVE THE HOOK PULL 60' FROM THE BOAT. AT ONE POINT THE DOUBLE LINE WAS AT THE BOAT. WE RETURNED TUESDAY TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME IN THE SOUTH POORMAN'S CANYON HOWEVER WE DIDN'T SEE A FISH ALL DAY. WEDNESDAY WAS A LAY DAY AND WE RAN TO THE WILMINGTON ON THURSDAY LOOKING FOR A LARGE TUNA SINCE THE LEADER WAS ONLY A 81LB YELLOWFIN. AFTER TROLLING ALL DAY WE FINALLY FOUND SOME LONGFIN ON THE WEST NOTCH. AFTER BAOTING SIX NICE FISH UP TO FORTY FIVE POUNDS WE WERE OUT OF TIME AND THE 2002 MIDATLANTIC WAS OVER FOR THE JENNY LEE. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE THE THREE BILLFISH AND THE SIX TUNAS AS MANY BOATS DIDN'T HAVE A BITE IN THREE DAYS OF FISHING.

TROLLING SATURDAY PROVED SLOW ONLY BOATING ONE 60LB YELLOWFIN. THE CHUNK PROVED TO BE EVEN SLOWER AS WE WERE COVERED UP WITH SQUID ALL NIGHT, HOWEVER NO TUNA HIT THE DECK. THE MORNING TROLL PROVED WORTHY AS SIX YELLOWFINS WERE HOOKED AND FIVE TO SEVENTY POUNDS WERE BOATED.

CAPT'S JIMMY GAHM AND NICK MILLS TOOK ED VANWOUDENBERG AND FRIENDS TO THE HUDSON CANYON FOR A DAY TROLL ON THURSDAY AUGUST 7,2002. THE WTAER WE HAD FISHED A FEW DAYS PRIOR HAD MOVED OUT AND GREEN WATER DOMINATED THE CANYON. WITH THE HELP FROM SATTELITE TEMPERATURE CHARTS, CAPT. JIMMY STEAMED SOUTH EAST TO FIND 78 DEGREE COBALT BLUE WATER. ALTHOUGH NO TUNA WERE CAUGHT AT NOON THE MAN IN THE BLUE SUIT CAME KNOCKING. AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF BATTLE AND SOME GREAT ANGLING BY ED AND BOAT HANDLING BY JIMMY AND NICK A RELEASE FLAG WENT UP AND A 550-600 LB BLUE MARLIN WAS SET FREE TO BITE ANOTHER DAY.

BEFORE LEAVING THE DOCK THERE WAS MIXED EMOTIONS ON WHERE TO FISH DUE TO THE LACK OF GOOD WATER. IT WAS DECIDED TO TAKE OUR MAIDEN VOYAGE TO THE HUDSON CANYON, WHAT WE CALL OUR HOME CANYON. THE HUDSON HAS BEEN BARREN SO FAR THIS SEASON. WELL, WE GOT A BREAK AND HAD A GREAT DAY. WE BOATED SIX YELLOWFINS FROM 50 -70LBS AND AT THE LAST FIVE MINUTES GOT BIT BY A NICE 5O LB WHITE MARLIN AND FLEW THE RELEASE FLAG BACK TO MANSQUAN INLET. TEN YEAR OLD KEVIN McCARRICK CAUGHT HIS FIRST YELLOWFIN AND HIS WAS THE 70 POUNDER.

THE FISHING WAS GENERALLY SLOW AND THE FISH HAVE BEEN SMALL. HOWEVER, FLAT CALM SEAS AND GOOD FRIENDS PROVIDED A GREAT TIME FOR PHIL'S BIRTHDAY GIFT FROM LAURIE.

LIGHTNING CAN STRIKE TWICE, CAPTS DAVE BENDER AND RICK PETSCHAUER TOOK STEVE WESTERKON AND FRIENDS TO THE TOMS CANYON FRIDAY JULY 12 FOR A DAY TROLL. THEY BOATED SEVEN YELLOWFINS TO 60 LBS AND FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW THE MAN IN THE BLUE SUIT CAME KNOCKING. LAST YEAR A 450LB BLUE MARLIN WAS RELEASE, UNFORTUNATLET THIS YEARS FISH WAS ALSO RELEASED HOWVER MUCH TOO EARLY, THE LINE BROKE EARLY INTO THE FIGHT. I'M SURE THE GUYS WILL BE BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR AS THE FISHING WAS GREAT AND THE SEAS WERE FLAT.

CAPTS. DAVE BENDER AND RICK PETSCHAUER RAN ERNIE AND MARK KUSTERER OUT SATURDAY IN VERY ROUGH 8' SEAS TO COMPETE IN THE MAKO MANIA SHARK TOURNAMENT OUT OF CLARK'S LANDING. WITH FATHER'S DAY ON SUNDAY THE BOYS OPTED TO FISH THE ROUGH WATER DUE TO PRIOR COMMITMENTS ON FATHER'S DAY. WE FISHED 37 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE INLET AND AT 11AM MR. MAKO CAME KNOCKING, AFTER A GOOD BATTLE MARK PULLED THE FISH BOATSIDE AND A 170 LB MAKO WAS IN THE BOX. THE FISH WAS SECOND PLACE UNTILL SUNDAY WHEN OVER 100 BOATS FISHED AND WE GOT KNOCKED OUT OF THE MONEY. HOWEVER A GOOD TIME WAS HAD AND THE BOYS ARE BOOKING AN OCTOBER TUNA TRIP.

FRIDAY WAS A BLOW OUT IN 30 KNOT WINDS AND SATURDAY WAS NOT MUCH BETTER ALTHOUGH WE GOT OUT SOME 52 MILES. A TOTAL OF EIGHT BLUE SHARKS WERE RELEASED ON SATURDAY THE LARGEST ABOUT 150LBS. SUNDAY WAS A FLAT CALM SEA AND THE FISHING WAS MUCH SLOWER AS ONLY ONE BLUE SHARK WAS RELEASED AND ALL THE BLUEFISH YOU COULD STAND. AT PRESS TIME JENNY LEE IS PREPPING TO FISH THE MAKO MANIA TOURNAMENT OUT OF MANASQUAN THIS WEEKEND THE 15/16TH OF JUNE

NONSTOP ACTION OCCURED ALL DAY AS OVER 30 BASS WERE CAUGHT. THE LARGEST ABOUT 16LBS. ONE DOWN SIDE TO THE TRIP WAS THE SITE OF THE PLANE CRASH OUT ON LONG ISLAND. UPON ARRIVAL TO THE CANYON THE WAVES WERE SEVEN FOOT AND THE WIND WAS A STIFF 20-25KNOTS. THE FISHING WAS PRETTY CONSTANT ALL DAY A MANY BITES WERE HAD ON 40LB FLOUROCARBON LEADER. UNFORTUNATLEY MANY FISH WERE LOST DUE TO THE LIGHT LEADERS. ALL IN ALL SIX FISH WERE BOATED AND THE GUYS HAD A GREAT TIME.

BY 3PM WE HAD 14 YELLOWFINS IN THE BOX AND WERE THE ONLY BOAT IN THE CANYON. THE OVERALL ACTION WAS NOT QUITE THE BITE WE HAD THE PREVIOUS WEEK. HOWEVER, JOHN AND FRIENDS HAD A GREAT TIME. AFTER REACHING THE CANYON A 15 POUND MAHI WAS TROLLED EVEN BEFORE THE LAST LINE WAS PUT OUT. SEVERAL HOURS OF TROLLING SEEMED FRUITLESS UNTIL A 70 LB YELLOWFIN HIT A FLATLINE JET/BALLYHOO COMBO. AFTER BOATING THE FISH WE SET UP FOR THE CHUNK. AFTER A SHORT DRIFT THAT PRODUCED TWO YELLOWFINS WE ANCHORED ON THE EAST WALL . WE HAD NON STOP ACTION WITH YELLOWFINS FROM 60 TO 110 LBS AND ONE LONGFIN. ALL IN ALL WE BOATED TWENTY FOUR YELLOWFINS AND ONE LONGFIN. THIS IS THE FISHING WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL YEAR.

THE RIDE OUT WAS A LITTLE SLOPPY AS THE REMNANTS OF THE LAST TROPICAL DEPRESSION LEFT A NICE SOUTHEAST SWELL. AFTER SETTING UP THE TROLL A SINGLE BITE BENT A ROD OVER A BEGAN TOO SPOOL A SHIMANO FIFTY WIDE, AFETR SETTING UP ON THE FISH THE ROD WAS HANDED OFF AND AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT THE HOOK WAS PULLED ON A VERY LARGE UNKNOWN FISH. UPON DARK WE SET UP ON THE EAST WALL AND HAD PROBLEMS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITH PORPOISE AROUND THE BOAT TO THE POINT OF EXTREME ANNOYANCE. WE LEFT THE SITE FOR THE WEST WALL. WE BOATED TWO LARGE YELLOFINS IN THE EIGHTY POUND CLASS AND TWO LONGFINS., ANOTHER SIX OR SEVEN FISH WERE LOST. AFTER A SHORT LONGFIN CHUNK BITE AT DAYBREAK WE WENT BACK TO THE SCENE OF THE CRIME AND TRIED TO SCARE UP ANOTHER BIG FISH ON THE TROLL. WE WERE BARRAGED BY THREE LONGFINS AND BOATED ALL THREE AS THE GUYS DID A GREAT JOB. ALL IN ALL SEVEN TUNA FISH AND TWO MAHI MAHI WERE ICED DOWN FOR THE SMOOTH RIDE HOME IN FLAT CALM WATERS. AFTER TROLLING DOWN TO THE 100 SQUARE LOOKING FOR THE EDDY WAATER THAT WAS REPORTED TO BE 76 DEGREES WE HEADED BACK TO THE NORTH LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SPEND THE NIGHT. AT ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE DARK WE HOOKED INTO TWO LONGFINS ON THE TROLL AND BOATED BOTH. AT JUST ABOUT DARK A SINGLE BITE LONG RIGGER SPREADER BAR WENT OFF AND YOU COULD TELL BY THE BEND IN THE ROD IT WAS NOT A L0NGFIN. AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR AND DARKNESS HAD SET IN WE GOT OUR FIRST LOOK AT ABOUT A 175.LB BIGEYE. TWO ANGLERS FOUGHT THE FISH TO THE EXHASTION OF THEMSELVES AND THE FISH. AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT THE LINE BROKE AT THE ROD TIP WHEN IT WAS BEING LEADERED. HEY, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BITE. AFTER SETTING UP ON THE EAST WALL WE PUT TWO NICE LONGFINS IN THE BOAT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THEN FOR THE NEXT TWO HOURS WE HAD NONSTOP ACTION WITH MAHI MAHI, WE BOATED 15 OF THEM. AT ABOUT 11PM A 100-110 LB YELLOWFIN CAME OVER THE RAIL. AY MIDNIGHT THW SWORD ROD WENT OFF AND OUT OF THE WATER JUMPED THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, A 200 LB MAKO WITH A LIGHTSTICK IN HIS MOUTH. AFTER SIX JUMPS HE SOUNDED AND WE FOUGHT HIM FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES BEFORE HE CHAFED THROUGH THE 80LB FLOUROCARBON LEADER. ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GREAT TRIP WE HAD SEVEN TUNA FISH 15 MAHI AND LOST A BIGEYE AND A MAKO.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE TRIP WERE THE FIFTEEN MAHI MAHI AND OF YEAH THE 70 LB WAHOOOOOO THAT WAS TROLLED ON MONDAY MORNING UP ON THE WEST FLATS. JIM AND FRIENDS WILL EAT GOOD THIS WEEK.

THE AFTERNOON TROLL PRODUCED NOTHING IN BLUE 70 DEGREE WATER. AFETR SETTING UP FOR THE CHUNK THE FIRST 80LB YELLOWFIN WAS BOATED ABOUT 8 PM. A TOTAL OF FIVE 80-100 LB FISH WERE CAUGHT. THE MORNING TROLL PROVED QUITE NICE FOR THE GUYS AS A TOTAL OF 10 LONGFINS WERE CAUGHT. I SHOULD MENTION THAT ONE SMALL YELLOFIN WAS ACTUALLY TROLLED THE NIGHT BEFORE AND RELEASED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY, IT WAS JUST BARELY THE MINIMUM.

UPON ARRIVING WE SET UP FOR THE TROLL AND WITHIN MINUTES A BARAGE OF LONGFINS CAME UP AND WE WENT FIVE FOUR SIX, NOT BAD WITH ONLY FOUR ANGLERS. THE CHUNK BITE WAS RATHER SLOW WE HAD TWO BITES AND WE BOATED TWO 100LB CLASS YELLOFINS.

CAPT. DAVE BENDER RAN MARK HALEY AND FRIENDS TO THE HUDSON CANYON FOR A CHUNK/TROLL TRIP. THE WATERS HAVE HEATED UP TO EIGHTY DEGREES WITH NO TEMP BREAKS AND THIS HAS REALLY PUT A HALT TO THE TROLL. SOME BOATS TROLLED UNTILL DARK AND IN THE LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS WERE ABLE TO MANAGE AN OCCASIONAL FISH. WE OPTED TO SET UP EARLY FOR THE CHUNK AND OUR EFFORTS PAYED OFF IN SPADES. AFTER A LONE RANGER HIT ABOUT EIGHT THIRTY PM WEIGHING IN AT ABOUT EIGHTY POUNDS ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE AT 3AM FOR NONSTOP ACTION OF 80-100 LB CLASS ACTION. THE GUYS WERE EXHAUSTED AND WE RAN HOME AT DAYBREAK TO GET READY FOR THE NEXT TRIP. ALL IN ALL 23 YELLOFINS WERE HOOKED IN THREE HOURS. THAT'S WHAT WE CALL THE "MAD DOG" BITE.

CAPT'S DAVE BENDER AND RICK PETSCHAUER RAN JOE ZAGORSKI AND FRIENDS TO THE WEST WALL OF THE HUDSON TO TRY TO REPEAT LAST YEARS TRIP OF TWENTY FISH. WELL THINGS LOOKED GOOD AS WITHIN THE FIRST HOUR OF TROLLING WE RELEASED A 60 LB WHITE MARLIN THAT PUT ON A NICE DISPLAY. WE TROLLED TILL DARK AND NOT ANOTHER KNOCKDOWN. AFTER DRIFTING IN ALMOST FLAT CALM SEAS FOR HOURS A YELLOWFIN OF THE 100 LB CLASS CAME KNOCKING AND RUSS GOT THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME LANDING THE BRUTE. UNFORTUNATLEY THAT WAS THE ONLY ACTION ON THE NIGHT SHIFT AS THE ENTIRE FLEET WAS COMPLAINING OF NO ACTION. HOWEVER JOE AND FRIENDS WERE STILL PLEASED WITH JUST BEING OUT IN PERFECT CANYON CONDITIONS AND LEFT WITH THE ANTICIPATION OF THE NEXT TRIP.

CAPT'S JIMMY GAHM AND RICK PETSCHAUER TOOK PAUL MUNDY ABD FRIENDS TO THE WEST WALL OF THE HUDSON CANYON ON A SUNDAY MONDAY AUG5/6TH. AFTER DARK THEY GOT INTO NONSTOP ACTION ON YELLOWFINS UP TO 100LBS. THE GUYS WERE LIMITED OUT BY 4AM AND WHILE CLEANING UP THE TWO CAPTAINS LANDED A 100LB YELLOWFIN ON A DEAD STICK. THE CONDITIONS WERE PERFECT AS THE JENNY-LEE DRIFTED ALL NIGHT AND HELD THE FISH FROM THE WEST WALL ALL THE WAY TO THE EAST WALL. PAUL AND HIS BUDDIES ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR

JIMMY PUZIO AND FRIENDS BRAVED ROUGH SEAS ON FRIDAY NIGHT LEAVING FOR THE HUDSON CANYON AT 6PM. THE FIRST 40 MILES WERE A BIT ROUGH BUT THE GUYS REALLY HUNG IN THERE. UOPN ARRIVAL AT THE WEST WALL WE ANCHORED UP AND WITHIN FIFTEEN MINUTES THE FIRST YELLOWFIN WAS HOOKED. CHUNKING FROM MIDNIGHT TO 5AM PRODUCED FIVE YELLOWFINS UP TO 100LBS!!! THE MORING TROLL PRODUCED A BARAGE OF LONGFINS IN A FLURRY OF ACTION. THE RIDE HOME WAS SMOOTH AND FAST. THE GUYS HAD A GREAT TIME AND ARE COMING BACK FOR A FULL TWO DAY TRIP NEXT YEAR

ON WEDNESDAU AUGUST 1 CAPT DAVE BENDER RAN THE JENNY-LEE TO THE HUDSON CANYON WITH DON MOSER AND FRIENDS FROM MACK MOTORS IN ALLENTOWN PA. THE GUYS WERE ON A THREE WEEK VACATION. AFTER BRAVING A LARGE EIGHT TO TEN FOOT SWELL LEFT OVER FROM GALE FORCE WINDS ON THE PREVIOUS MONDAY THE GUYS ARRIVED AT THE CANYON AT DAYBREAK. TROLLING ALL DAY DIDN'T PRODUCE A SINGLE KNOCK DOWN AS EVERY BOAT IN THE CANYON WAS CRYING, INCLUDING US I MIGHT ADD. ON THE WAY IN WE LEFT THE LINES IN WHILE WE CLEANED UP A BIT AND SEVEN MILES INSHORE A SMALL MAHI MAHI WAS LANDED. THE GUYS WERE GREAT AND HAD A GREAT TIME INSPITE OF THE CRUMMY CATCH. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL RETURN FOR AN OVERNIGHTER NEXT YEAR AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE GREAT CHUNK BITE WE ARE HAVING NOW.

D.J. WILLIS AND FRIENDS FISHED THE JENNY-LEE N A SATURDAY/SUNDAY OVERNIGHTER ON JULY25/26 AFTER S VERY SHORT TROLL IT WAS DECIDED TO GO ON THE CHUNK, A VERY ODD THING FOR JULY. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF CHUNKING THE FIRST 80 LB YELLOWFIN HIT THE DECK. ALL IN ALL 10 LARGE YELLOFINS WERE BOATED INCLDING A 90LB ALLISON. DURING A SLOW NIGHT SHIFT ONLY THREE OTHER BITES PRODUCED A KEEPER MAKO. ALL IN ALL D.J. AND HIS FRIENDS HAD A TRIP TO REMEMBER ON THE JENNY-LEE AND WERE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR.

JIMMY "STATS" MARSHALL AND FRIENDS FISHED THE WEST WALL OF THE HUDSON CANYON ON SATURDAY JULY 21 AND SUNDAY THE 22ND. THE TROLL BITE WAS VERY SLOW, ONLY PRODUCING ONE MAHI MAHI. HOWEVER, THE NIGHT CHUNK PROVIDED THE PARTY WITH SEVEN YELLOWFINS TO 75LBS IN PERFECT FLAT CALM SEAS.

STEVE WESTERKON AND FRIENDS MADE THE BEST OF FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH CATCHING NINE LONGFIN TUNAS TO 40 LBS AND ONE YELLOWFIN AT 80 LBS. HOWEVER THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE TRIP WAS A FOUR HUNDRED POUND BLUE MARLIN THAT WAS FOUGHT BY ALL MEMBERS OF THE CHARTER, SUFFICE TO SAY STEVE AND FRIENDS HAD THE TRIP OF A LIFETIMW ON THE JENNY LEE

DR RON HAD A SLOW DAY OF TUNA TROLLING IN THE MASS OF BOATS IN THE CANYON HOWEVER THE FOUR TUNAS AND ONE NICE MAHI MAHI WERE ENOUGH TO BRING SMILES TO THE FACES OF EVERYONE ABOARD. THE TRIP ENDED ON QUITE A HIGH NOTE AS A SEVEN OR EIGHT HUNDRED POUND BLUE MARLIN ROCKETED OUT OF THE WATER THROUGH THE SPREAD LEAVING EVERYONE EVEN THAT MORE EXCITED TO COME BACK ON THE JENNY LEE AND LOOK FOR THE BIG ONE.

A BUSSMAN'S HOLIDAY FOR THREE CAPTAINS ON THE JENNY LEE PRODUCED THREE YELLOWFINS TO 60 LBS. THE JENNY LEE STARTS FISHING REGULARLY OFFSHORE THIS WEEK. THE WATER WAS A DEEP BLUE 73 DEGREES AND THE PROGNOSIS LOOKS GREAT.

October 14-15,
Captain Dave Bender reports:
Captain Dave Bender took the John Abramski charter to the west wall where they chunked 5 Longfin in the day light hours and then added 10 Yellowfins at night up to 80 lbs. No bite after 2AM and no morning bite. Very slow conditions after 2AM.

October 12-13,
Captain Dave Bender reports:
Captain Dave Bender ran the Jenny-Lee to the 100 square with Jimmy & Mike Hocks and friends for 9 Yellowfins to 80 lbs. and lost a large swordfish in the running gear. No morning bite, very slow morning conditions. Boated 2 Yellowfins at 10AM on the Letters before going home.

October 6-7,
Captain Dave Bender reports:
Captain Dave Bender ran the Jenny-Lee to the 100 square with Russ Thistle, Mike Wristen Sr., Mike Wristen Jr., Ed Wristen, Melissa Constantino, and Alan Voorhees. We had to run some 45 miles in fog to dusk. Within 2 minutes of stopping the boat tuna were hooked up. 6 70-80 lbs. fish were in the boat in the 1st. hour. We limited out on YellowFin got 5 Mahi to 12 lbs., and boated one Swordfish. Then a 15 lb. Blue Marlin was released by Mellisa. At 3am the strong northwest winds (30 knots) came and we headed in for a slow sloppy ride home. Sunday-Mondays trip was cancelled due to forecast.

Had the Franz & Reed party out to the Hudson. We caught 1 swordfish 140#, 1 Big-Eye 126#, 1 Mahi 15#, and 7 Yellow-Fin to 90#. We were fishing at the west wall in 550' with a water temp of 65.6

September 30 - October 1,
Captain Dave Bender reports:
The Solomon Smith Barney party fished the West Wall of the Hudson Producing 10 yellowfins to 95 pounds while releasing 2 swordfish. The party fishing aboard the Jenny Lee out of Manasquan had to cut the trip short due to high winds and rough seas.

September 29 - 30,

Fishing aboard the Jenny Lee out of Manasquan the Chris Neufer party boated 17 yellowfins to 90 pounds releasing one swordfish and a dozen additional yellowfins, while fishing the East Elbow of the Hudson
