07/02/10
Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Paul Rubbe charter out again today for another great day of fishing.
Started off bass fishing this morning. Drifting live bunker this morning put 5 bass
in the boat this morning real quick this morning. Deceided to try anchoring and
drawing the fish to us and boy did it work. Within 45 minutes three of us put
another 15 fish to the boat up to 30 lbs. Keeping only our limit plus one bonus fish
with all the bigger fish swimming away to fight another day. The bite died and we
made a run to try some bucktailing. In a few hours we put 9 keeper fluke to 9 lbs in
the boat plus a few sea bass and released a bunch of shorts. A beautiful day on the
water with good friends and the fishing couldn't of been any better.

Had the Paul Rubbe charter out this morning. Heading to the same area we have
been fishing it didnt take long to find them. Within a few drifts we had our 6 fish
limit of stripers to 32 lbs. Made a few drifts in the bay for fluke with the
bucktails and managed one keeper around 3.5 lbs and a bunch of shorts.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Pete Romer charter out this morning. Was able to make bait easy and
fished very local this morning. Found the readings we were looking for and as soon
as baits hit the bottom it was game on. The charter limited out on the first drift
and then played catch and release for the rest of the morning. Total for the day was
21 keeper bass to 24 lbs.
We still have some mornings and afternoons available in June and July for striper
trips. We will be fishing for them as long as they are around. We are also now
booking fluke and bottom fish trips throughout the summer months. For more info and

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Marty Noll charter aboard this afternoon. Found some marks locally so
started drifting. The fish were spread over a large area. The charter managed to box
5 bass to 29 lbs along with several bluefish. We will be running open boat this
coming Sat 6/26 and Sun 6/27 for Sea Bass and fluke. Price is $120 per person and
this includes all bait, tackle and tip for the mate. For information adn

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Ran our open striper strip this morning. Fishing was slow overall with the
group only boating 2 keeper bass to 20 lbs along with several bluefish.
The afternoon trip with the Jeff Dinger charter was a completely different story.
Made some bait down the beach. Stopping on some readings, the charter had a few bass
blowups and some bluefish bites. A short ride south put the charter into non stop
action with all bass. They ate live bunker, dead bunker, swimming plugs and popping
plugs. The group managed to land 16 bass to 45 lbs only keeping 5 for the table.
Jeff's sons at age 11 managed to land fish of a lifetime at 45 and 42 lbs.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Steve Soos charter aboard this morning for some striper fishing. Was
able to make bait on the outside today and ran down the beach to fish some bunker
pods. The hard NW wind made the drift to fast to stay with the bunker schools.
Anchoring on some structure the charter managed to box 3 bass to 20 lbs while
missing several other bites in tough conditions.

Had the Bob Milkovitz charter out this morning. Ran across some fish on the
way to the grounds. Dropping live bunker to the bottom got consistent hook ups. THe
charter limited out with 10 fish to 32 lbs while releasing another 5 keepers.
This afernoon the Ken Maimone charter was aboard. Setting up on a small piece, the
charter limited out 8 bass to 30 lbs while releasing another 10 keepers. All fish in
the afternoon were caught on bunker chunks.
We still have a few dates left in June for bass fishing, so give Capt Derek a call @

summer for fluke and bottom fish trips.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Nick Pourchinski charter out this afternoon. Headed out in a
different direction after a report from a friend. Once we got the anchor in, it took
about 2 minutes to get them going. The charter limited out with 10 stripers in an
hour and half then played catch and release with another 13 bass. Biggest fish of
the night weighed 29 lbs.
We still have a few mornings and afternoons available through the end of June, so

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Paul Rubbe charter aboard this morning and took a break from the bass
fishing to hit the bottom grounds.Several drops produced a pick of sea bass, ling,
cod and blackfish. At the end of the day the charter boxed up 54 keeper sea bass to
3 lbs, 28 ling a keeper cod and over 25 blackfish to 6 lbs that were releases.

Had the Anne Riley charter aboard this morning. Found some bait locally and
headed down the beach. Had a slow day chunking only landing 3 stripers to 15 lbs
along with a few dropped fish.

Had the Mark Kulick party aboard this afternoon. Ran down the beach and made
bait quickly. Ran into some bunker schools and it was on. Landed our limit of 8 fish
on live bunker to 30 lbs while releasing another one fish. Had to ride out a quick
storm then went searching again. Lost the bunker, but found some good readings and
set up on the chunk. The charter managed to boat another 4 bass to 40 lbs.
Still have a few open dates available in June for the striped bass run. Nows the

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Steve Kimball charter aboard this morning. Ran down the beach and ran
into huge bunker schools. As soon as the baits hit the water we picked away all
morning. The charter was able to land stripers to 32 lbs. Did see a few larger bass
in the 40 lb class come up and smash our baits, but were unable to hook them.
Now is the time to get a trophy bass. We still have a few dates available through

Had the Jason Vicchariello charter aboard this morning. With the hard NW wind
deceided to take a ride down the beach. Located schools of bunker right away and
made bait quickly. Took a short ride and found a body of bass that was crushing
baits on the surface. The only problem was, that they would knock the baits around
and not eat. Made a short ride to a small snag where the charter went 2 for 5 on
stripers to 15 lbs. Slow day overall, but a beautiful day on the water.

Had the Paul Wint charter aboard this morning. Made bait quickly, but it took
several moves to get the bite going. Once we found some fish that wanted to eat, the
charter picked away at 4 keeper bass to 30 lbs.

Had the Mark Cuglarri charter aboard this morning. Once on the grounds it
didnt take long to get them going. The charter boated 5 keepers and many bluefish.
Got a call from a friend who was cathing some bigger fish on bunker pods so we
pulled the achor and off we went. Once we got to the bunker schools, we boated
another 3 keepers to 25 lbs while missing several other fish as they were just
bumping the baits.
In the afternoon we had the Scott Yandle party aboard. Went to where we started the
morning off and read teh fish good, but ind against tide made made for lousy
conditions.The group was able to land 1 bass to 15 lbs and loads of bluefish.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Ran out open boat trip this morning. Was able to make bait pretty quick and
got set up on some good readings. Caught one keeper right away and thought we were
set, but it was not the case. Took a short ride got reanchored and it was on. The
group held one to to on for the next hour and a half, boating 15 keepers to 34 lbs
and several blues, only keeping their limit and releasing their limit.
The afternoon charter of Dan Fornal saw different results. Started where we left off
with a screaming out going tide. The group boated 3 keepers to 24 lbs while missing
several bites. A quick move put another 3 keepers in the boat and several blues.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Tom Fernacola charter out this morning. Despite goood conditions and
good readings, the charter managed to land 2 keeper bass to 18 lbs. This afternoon
was a different stroy for our open baot trip. Setting up in the same area and
similar readings, the group landed their limit of 8 bass plus 3 bonus fish while
releasing another 2 fish to 25 lbs. The fishing was non stop the last hour and a
half of the tide with multiple hook ups. A few bluefish were mixed into the catch to
help keep the rods bent.

Had the Mark Kulick charter out this morning. We were able to make bait
pretty quick and got set up on the grounds. Got the fish started pretty quick and
the charter picked away all day limiting out and releasing another 2 fish to 30 lbs.
This afternoons open boat saw a little slower fishing as it was a picky bite. The
crew managed to land 7 keeper bass to 28 lbs and a few blues.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Bob Milkovitz crew out this morning for some bass fishing. Went to
where we left them yesterday and it was on as soon as the baits hit the water. On
the first drift the charter went 4 for 10. We ran out of bait and had to go reload.
Once back on the grounds we picked away the rest of the day missing alot of fish.
The crew ended with 7 bass to 29 lbs.

Had the Russ Kudile charter out this morning. With the weather this morning
deceided to anchor up on roamer and crack clams. Turned out being a good decesion as
the charter limited out with bass to 20 lbs and also filled all bonus tags. We

Had the Rocky Ruggerrio charter out this morning. With the weather, we
deceided to give clamming a try. The group picked away at bass to 22 lbs. We still

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Bob Milkovitz charter out this morning. Stopping short we started
drifting live bunker on the surface. We had 7 bites, but no takers. Deceided to
anchor and try chunking. The charter landed 3 bass to 20 lbs while missing several
others.
This afternoon was a totally different story. Ran down the beach with our open boat
trip and located the bunker schools. The group landed 24 bass with two of them going
42 and 46 lbs. All the rest of the fish were between 20 and 32 lbs and caught on
live bunker. It was Dan McCormicks first time ever saltwater fishing and landed the
big one for the day.

Captain Derek Bielitz Reports:
Had the Tim Gibney charter out this morning. After last nights action, we
thought we would be set. That was not the case as trolling stretches and drifting
live bunker did not produce a bite all morning.
The afternoon charter of Tom Volgelsong and his brothers saw completely different
action. Running down the beach and on the grounds, drifting bunker schools produced
a limit of 10 bass to 38 lbs on live bunker. All fish were released execpt one of
the smaller ones for the table.

Made our way down the beach this afternoon. First two drifts produced one
keeper bass and several run offs. Made a move a little further south and found what
we were looking for. Two drifts produced our limit of 10 bass to 34 lbs while
releasing another another 5 fish both on live bait and on plugs. The crew had enough
and we returned early to the dock.

Ran down the beach with the Dennis Stagnaro charter aboard this afternoon.
Arriving at the grounds we had fish swimming all over the surface. Drifting live
bunker, the charter was able to limit out with bass ranging from 18 to 44 lbs. All
fish were released except two of the smaller ones for the table. Still a few dates

Had the Tennis Houston charter out this morning. Fishing was tougher today
due to the boat traffic. We wound up catching 4 keeper bass to 18 lbs along with a

With the hard northwest wind this morning deceided to head down the beach
with our open boat trip. It was the right decesion as we were able to land 5 bass
right away on live bunker to 27 lbs. Once the crowd formed, we put out the spoons
and picked away at fish to 23 lbs filling our limit plus bonus tags.
This afternoon we had out the Tom Nastasi charter. We headed right to where we left
them this morning to find scattered readings. Trolling spoons produced 6 keeper bass
to 18 lbs along with a few bluefish.

Started the day drifting live bunkers. On the first drift thought we would be
set for the day after landing a 15 lb bass and a 38 lbs bass. Next two drifts didnt
produce anything so we went on the troll. Trolling spoons produced 2 more keepers to
20 lbs and some blues. We were able to bait on more keeper later in the day, but
over all it was a tough morning. Still have some choice dates available in May and

With such a nice day, deceided that me and the mate should head out and take
a look around. Got out into the bay and located scattered readings. Pulling bunker
spoons produced 4 bass up to 24 lbs along with a few blues. Got tired of trolling
and deceided to drift live bunker, landing another bass around 25 lbs and dropping a
few more.

Had the Leon deLeon charter out this morning for some bass fishing. We were
able to make bait pretty fast and got to the grounds in no time. Picked away at the
bass throughout the day landing 4 keepers to 19 lbs along with a mess of bluefish to
10 lbs. Alot of fish were missed as it was a picky bite. We will be running open
boat this coming Fri 5/14 and Sat 5/15 for striped bass. Leaving the dock at 6am and

The Ed Kachinski charter was aboard this morning and what a difference a day
makes. Made it down the beach to find little life and only had a few run offs.
Tracked back up to the bay and was able to land 5 keeper bass to 21 lbs along with a
mess of bluefish.

Ran our open boat this morning and was able to make bait real fast. Set up on
the anchor and began chunking. Less than ideal conditons produced a slow pick of
bass and blues with 4 keeper bass to 19 lbs coming over the rail.
This afternoon we had out the Mike Garino charter. A brief attempt at chunking was
uneventful. Trolling stretches produced a limit of bass to 14 lbs.

Was able to make bait very easily this morning and deceided to head into the
bay looking for some fish to bunker chunk. Once set up on the anchor, it only took
several minutes to get them going. The boat tallied 15 keeper bass to 24 lbs and one
short with 7 of the fish over 20 lbs. All the fish but one were released as they
were all ready to spawn. We will be running open boat this coming Fri 4/23, Sat 4/24

With the hard west wind deceided to run down the beach yesterday and it paid
off. Found the gannets and wide spread area of fish. Diamond jigs and plugs produced
11 keeper bass up to 18 lbs along with multiple shorts. Still have a few open dates

Was able to net some bunker this morning. Ran up into the bay and set up in
12 ft of water. Managed to land 14 keeper stripers with two fish over 20 lbs also
releasing a few shorts.

Ran down the beach first thing this morning. Jigging and trolling produced a
limit of 10 bass to 18 lbs, while releasing another 5 keepers and 40 more shorts.

Had good blackfishing for the Ron Stroz charter from Colts Neck. We had a dozen
keepers to 5 pounds and twice as many shorts to keep the rods bending. We will be

Had the Andy Compton charter out this morning for the last trip of the
season. Stopping on birds for two hours in the morning produced 50 short bass on
jigs. Once we got settled in on the blackfish grounds, the bite was on, with the
charter easily reaching their 6 man limit with 36 keeper tog to 10 lbs being decked.

The Pepe Lepre charter was out this morning for a combo bass/blackfish trip.
Stopping on birds working produced 3 keepers to 31 inches along with 30 shorts. Once
on the blackfish ground, the charter limited out with 36 blackfish to 8.5lbs,
releasing additional keepers and shorts. We will be running open boat combo trips
this coming Sat 12/5 and Sun 12/6 for bass/blackfish. Cost is $110 per person

Ran our open boat combo trip yesterday for bass and blackfish. A few stops on
the way to the blackfish grounds produced over 20 short bass and a few blues to 10
lbs on diamond jigs. Setting up on the blackfish grounds the crew put 21 keeper tog
in the boat up to 8 lbs along with over 30 shorts for the day. We will be running
open boat this coming Fri 12/4, Sat 12/5 and Sun 12/6. These trips will be 8 hour

a slow day as the charter went 1 for 5 on blufins to 50 lbs along with a few

Several drops produced 60 porgies, a limit of blackfish to 4 lbs and over a dozen

Had the Lloyd Kass charter out this morning bluefishing. Running out to the
mud dump we were able to get the blues to 10 lbs coming quickly as soon as we got

Ran a crew trip in the evening for striped bass. In a few hours we boated 6

Ran a crew trip offshore looking for some bluefin tuna. We successfully went
3 for 5 on bluefins to 75 lbs. We were able to both troll and jig these fish. We are

Fishing was very slow overall with several shorts and only a few keepers being

Had the Ed Malgrew charter out today. Started looking around for a few
stripers. Only able to boat one keeper to 16lbs the crew deceided to finish the day
fluking. In a short time the crew managed to boat 5 keepers to 5 lbs drifting rough

The Joe Hudak charter was aboard this morning for a slow pick of stripers to
18 lbs. A brief stop on some rough bottom on the way home resulted in several sea
bass to 3.5 lbs and 2 keeper fluke to 4 lbs. The Sal Martelli party was aboard in
the afternoon for some more bunker chunking limiting out with stripers to 38 lbs.
