Information : On halloween I hooked a blue about 6lbs on a popper 1/2 hour before sunrise, the next cast after let him go a 32" bass jumped all over that tiny popper. watching him take that lure was cooler than the other side of the pillow!! Fished that evening with bait and one fish on and lost him after he ran about fifty feet. Lbi was a bust, the conditions were great for bait but the only fish to show were shorts.

Boat Name: Canyon Runner
Date Fished: October 30 - 31
Location: Hudson Canyon
Fishing Method: Chunking
Specie: Yellowfin Tuna
Size: 50 - 100
Bait or Lure: Butterfish
Water Depth: 600'
Water Temp.: 65
Information : Captain Phil Dulanie was one of the last boats to venture out to the canyon this year and the trip proved eventful. The Dr. John Bednar charter fished the Canyon Runner on an overnighter and had constant action throughout the night and well into the morning. Big blue sharks and two makos keep every busy both fighting on the rod and fight off the attacks on the tuna fish we were catch. Through out the night no less than 6 yellowfin were fought only to be eaten by sharks before we could get them in the boat. However, once the sun rose we were able to boat a number of the yellowfin.

Boat Name: Golden Eagle
Date Fished: 10-31-97
Location: Farms?
Fishing Method: Chumming
Specie: Bluefish
Size: Huge
Bait or Lure: Diamond jigs, bunker
Water Depth: 50-60'
Water Temp.: 60
Information : Beautiful Halloween day, sunny, warm and calm. +/-1 hour run from Belmar, fish on right from the start, big beautiful giant bluefish. We haven't seen these fall run giants for a few years now, and it was great, just like the good old days. The 20 or so anglers on board could have sunken the boat with fish, but the mates were able to lip gaff fish for release, and as many as possible were lifted rather than gaffed, for release. Tons of fun, glad we blew off work for this trip.

Information : The water was rough from the ne blow. i have been waiting for a day like this for a while started fishing at 4:30 am and picked up a small weakie on a plug. Just before daybreak in the rain i hooked something and fought it for about 15 mins never saw it and when i finally got it into the wash i lost the fish and the plug because the duolock snap opened up. I was kind of bummed out to say the least. At first light i switched over to an ava 17(because there were lots of sandeels around) and produced a 20"bas on first cast then at about 8:30am the blues blitzed for about 3 hours they were all over the place, at times they were so close in the wash that all you had to do was flick the spoon out about 15' feet and one was on before you could start reeling. great morning, lots of fun big fish will be here soon

Location: Hudson, Toms canyon
Fishing Method: chunking
Specie: Yellowfin Tuna
Size: 60-80 lbs
Bait or Lure: Butterfish
Water Depth: 600
Water Temp.: cold
Information : Had my research been a little more proficient, I would have realized that I really had no chance in the first place to catch anything. The water in the Hudson was 63.5 a bit cold for yellow fins. Thats why they call it fishing and not catching. If I would only learn not to expect to much then I wouldn't be so disappointed all the time.Capt. and crew did every thing possible to find fish. Great bunch of guys. These fellas are true proffsionals,Iwould recommend this boat to any and everyone.

Boat Name: Miss Belmar Princess
Date Fished: 10/15-10/16
Location: Hudson Canyon
Fishing Method: Chunking
Specie: Yellowfin Tuna
Size: unknown!
Bait or Lure: Butter Fish
Water Depth: 600
Water Temp.: 65
Information : Trip started out ok, seas did not turn out to be as large as was predicted and not too chopy. Got to the Hudson Wednesday night around 12:30 AM and were all fishing by around 1AM. Caught one yellowfin tuna that night and that was all the action, except the attacks from the blue dawgs, they were on the line constantly! One of the mates managed to land a good size long fin on a jig while chunking, and captain Tom managed to toss a jig on a long fin while walking to the galley after one of his ten hour naps! Luckily there was lots of wildlife to shoot, being an avid photographer I got some good close ups of the gooney birds. I must admit the boat and crew were outstanding, they did everything in their power to try and find the warm water and fish. The mates were all over our tangles and hardware needs, except the one who took up a bench the whole trip in the cabin and kept the heat up to tropical levels. I would highly reccomend taking the Miss Belmar Princess on a long trip, at 115' and capable of traveling almost 100 miles in 5 hours, makes the trip bearable. Especially when you catch donut!!!!

It would have taken the pool, but he had to hand it off to a mate for the coup de gras. Tons of squid and mackeral in the slick, jumping skippies and YFT during the daylight portions of the trip. The weather was unbelievebal for Oct, 80 degrees, no wind, calm seas. Brutally long ride though, for not the kind of action we'd hoped for.

Information : Caught one shortie of 25". The mates fished and caught 5 or 6 of about 15 caught. Of course, the paper said about 30 striped bass. Would have been nice if the mates had looked after the 12-15 paying customers. An absolotely miserable night to fish. But if I had caught the 20 pounder in the last 5 minutes like the other guy did, I might feel better. Temperature in the 40's with winds at 25 kts. Damn, the wife was right.
