Location:
Fishing Method:
Specie: Striped Bass
Size:
Bait or Lure:
Water Depth:
Water Temp.:
Information : Terrible fishing today! Started out heading to the south looking for jig fish, never say a bird, a swirl, bait, nothing. Made a hard left turn and put out the eels, got to the channels to find there was no current, no drift...Thought patience would pay off, well, we did get the current and caught 2 fish, thought it would start to happen, read fish on the snags, sure enough as the current ran harder, here comes the south wind! Kept trying thou, hoping some jig fish would show, had some life at the point but with a hundred small boats there, it's almost impossible to catch...did manage a couple slots and a major headache....I surrendered at 2:05.....Sunday sounds lousy with 25 to 30 SE, but they have been wrong before....Capt. Ron (Another 2 Scotch day today)

Angler Name : George Bailey
E-Mail : gbail122@hotmail.com
Boat Name: From the Beach (Surf Casting)
Date Fished: 11/19 - 11/20 - 11/22/2004
Location: Surf City, NJ
Fishing Method: Bottom
Specie: Striped Bass

Water Depth: Surf

Information : Despite near perfect conditions, action has been slow, with few (mostly shorts) fish taken on clams. Some mid-sized bluefish caught on bunker. We're optimistic that the slow fishing is related to still-warmer water temps up north. Pessimists say the run of large fish already happened in October. Let's hope not. I'll be out there again tomorrow - Sixth Street.

Size:
Bait or Lure:
Water Depth:
Water Temp.:
Information : Today had to be one of the best days of the year! Action within 15 minutes of the dock, Bass, Blues, Small, Large, pick your fish! Fished the point and the knoll for a good hour and a half, when that died we headed south a bit to the next blitz. Huge Blues and larger Bass on the old reliable Crockadile's. Plenty of slots and short fish also. This is the absolute best time of year to fish, especially since we have had some what decent weather....I do like the sping run, but there is something about the Fall, watching a bass smack a bunker or hearing with his tail and attack like there's no tommorrow. My heart pounds and I can't wait to get back on another drift wondering if the next batch of fish is going to produce a 25 or 30 pounder. I do have the best job in the world!!!!!! Capt. Ron

Bait or Lure: Shads/Strect 25/Ava's
Water Depth: Up to 80ft

Information : Since I was fishing in a center counsel w/o radar by myself, I decided to limit the distance of my travels due to varrying severity of the fog. Trolled south in about 50 feet, caught several blues but no bass. Found birds working in shallower water only to find more blues. Just before ending the day, saw birds working off the beach. Saw many bass breaking the service but I couldn't get them to hit. I even tried some poppers. I saw a couple caught on the boat next to me. Then the fog came again, so I called it a day. All in all caught about 3 dozen blues of varying sizes which is much better than catching nothing. Highlight of the trip was a single football bluefin tuna of about 30-40 lbs clear the water about 15 feet from the boat. In the fog, it startled the hell out of me momentarily.

Information : Another great fall day! Birds working, fish up all day. Bounced around from inshore to offshore hitting different patches looking for the Bass...Some spots were mixed Blues, large and small, and bass, slots and shorts. We did manage a few nicer fish today, the best part is the action was non-stop...Seems like the little bit of Easterly we had turned them on.....Just a note, a few guys wanted to go eeling, I will not leave fish to look for fish....the eeling has had it's moments during the week, not enough to keep a gang of customers happy thou....besides we did catch some bigger fish today. Hey, I don't make the size, but I do keep searching all day for the big ones. If the action had died I most surely would have changed rigs in a heart beat! We are sailing Early on Thanksgiving 7:00am till 1:00pm for Stripers, normally the fishing has been good the past few years, not a lot of traffic to break the fish up......come on down. Capt. Ron

Information : After a pathetic 2004 season, it was just good to finally catch something. We also had a 23+ throwback that many would have kept except for those who respect the rules. I have to admit to being a member of the 90% club ... the club that catches only 10% of the fish, but all in all it was still a beautiful day on the water. Nothing better than cutting work to chase the best fish of all with an 8 bag limit. Frankie "BIGFISH" and Pat got a real hometown beatin' by Capt. Lew and myself. We limited out with 32 with the two of us keeping 26. Sometimes it just be's that way. We never moved the boat all day. We tossed back "keepers" all day and the three o'clock bite didn't disappoint us with great sized tog. Gotta love that Jersy Fishin in November.

Bait or Lure: live eels on 3 way rigs
Water Depth: 20 to 80 feet

Information : Captain Ron put in the effort yesterday, staying out an extra hour. The bite came on strong well after the top of the tide. The fast tide required either power pro line and a lot of free spool or up to 20 ounces of lead on conventional tackle to hold bottom. Once it got going after 1PM, each of the 7 anglers in our group each had their fish over 34". I did not see one slot caught the whole day. As the tide got past midway down, the fishing got progressively better. Everything was on the eels. All of the fish were mid to high 30 inch range, leaving a big fight on light tackle. The pool winning fish was 42". Great Job Captain Ron. We appreciate the effort!

Shortly after seeing that no one was catching anything, good old captain Willy decided to head out to the mud hole. When we got otu there everyone was excited but the swells were simply to big. Came back in and our last stop made this trip into a decent one. Even though the fish were abundant, many anglers love the fact that Captain Willy always tries to look for fish even if there were only 21 fisherman on board like yesterday. Bait or Lure: Bunker Spoons & Shad rigs
Water Depth: 50' - 65'
Water Temp.: 52 degrees
Information : The crew included: Captain Jerry Lake, Jimmy, Mark, Mike, and myself. We broke the Manasquan inlet at 8:30AM and headed for the Bell Buoy. The trolling spread was a combination of Bunker Spoons and Shad rigs. Due to the number of short strikes and collateral damage, we ditched the rigs and switched to all hard baits, including a Manns 30+ stretch minnow. Fluorescent green was the hot color for today’s success. We trolled from the Bell Buoy south to Bay Head, zigzagging from 60' of water to 50'. Most of the strikes were on the Green Bunker spoon. The hottest strike zone was by the Bell Buoy. In 4.5 hours we netted about 20 - 30 strikes and boated 6 bluefish. The bluefish were plentiful, but there were no Strippers to be had. Excluding a strong south wind that kicked up in afternoon, it was an excellent November fishing day.

Boat Name: Jeric Sea
Date Fished: 11/07/2004
Location: Pt. Pleasent
Fishing Method: Trolling
Specie: Striped Bass
Size: 34"
Bait or Lure: Bunker Spoons - just off the bottom
Water Depth: 40 - 50'
Water Temp.: 57degrees
Information : We broke the inlet at 8:00am with the other gentlemen fishermen. The crew was Captain Jerry Lake, Helene, Vince, and myself. Conditions were perfect, sunny & mild with just enough of a ripple on the water to disguise our lures. There were Strippers & blues breaking right from the inlet, chasing schools of bunker out to the one mile buoy and south for as far as the eye could see. Our party fished south of the inlet for approximately 4 hours. In that time we boated one stripper of 34" and about 30 bluefish ranging from 8# - 15# on average. According to the radio reports, this was the typical experience of everyone in our area. There was also a huge fleet to our south; they fished just off of the Seaside pier. According to the reports, those boats were into the bluefish, but no reports of stripped bass were intercepted. Toward the early afternoon, the wind picked up and shifted from the west, to the south-east. Arm weary and with worsening conditions, we headed back to the barn. Between the excellent weather and non-stop action, it was a spectacular day on the water. .

Specie: Striped Bass
Size: 4-10 pound bluefish
Bait or Lure: Tubeless AVA047 and 067s, 5 & 7 ounce Krocodile Spoons
Water Depth:
Water Temp.:
Information : Although the sky wasn't 'black' with birds we did find some bird life a few miles south of Manasquan early in the morning. Upon having the horn blow for our first drop both Jason and I were soon hooked up. I dropped my fish but Jason put the first of his 6 bluefish on the deck. The only 2 stripers of the day were taken on this drop. One was between ther now taboo 28-34" and the other was just under 28" taken . This was the eventual pool winner as it was a striper only pool. First part of the morning was a steady pick of bluefish from 4-10 pounds. Around 11:00 a brisk south wind picked up and that seemed to shut off the bite for a while. We moved around a bit and dropped on some readings for a very slow pick. We steamed north off Sea Girt and moved within 1/4-1/2 mile off the beach and got back into the bite. Seemed as if the fish fought alot harder in the shallower water, as my last 2 blues of about 6 and 9 pounds both kicked my butt. I ended the day with 14 bluefish while breaking off another 2 or 3 & 2 skates. Jason had 6 bluefish, 1 monster skate and a short fluke (one of 2 on the boat). Tubeless AVA047s and 5 ounce Krocodile spoons were the bait of choice before the wind/drift picked up then I switched to AVA067s and a 7 ounce Kroc. Smallest of Jason's and my bluefish was about 6 pounds with the largest going alittle over 9.

Water Depth: 40-80ft
Water Temp.: 56
Information : As soon as I left the Manasquan, birds were diving. Jigged up numerous blues of various sizes. Decided to go elsewhere in search of bass Hooked one bass in about 80ft of water off Bay Head but lost it boatside. As the wind howled, I moved closer to shore where it was Bluefish after Bluefish. After the "monkey boy" chased me from listening to channel 65, I recieved a call from a friend who trolled a couple of bass off Deal. I took a chance running up there. Just south of Deal about 2 miles off, it looked like a scene for the movie the Birds. Gulls, Gannetts and splashes everywhere. Jigged as many blues as I made casts but no bass. Great day on the water, wish I could have found some bass but I will take action like that any day. I took a bit of a beating on the way in since the wind was howling out of the southwest, not the west.

Saturday's morning bite lasted till slack water, about an hour and a half, then it went dead for a couple of hours. An hour into the outgoing and they came on again. Mostly slots and shorts, but we did manage a half dozen fish 34 inches or better. Sunday morning was just a shot in the am then nothing till the end of the day again. Still ended up with 26 nice keepers. Todays fishing was a little tougher with the hard NW wind against the tide in the am. Caught 9 fish right away, then it went dead until 1:30 when the current was running hard. Ended up with a mess of slots and a nice 38 inch fish for the big one......all on Clams. Capt. Ron
