Location: 3 mi. N/E Barnegate Inlet
Fishing Method: jig
Specie: Striped Bass
Size: to 30"
Bait or Lure: A-27's, 17's-- TUBES OFF!
Water Depth: 70'
Water Temp.: 58
Information : Got a late start Saturday. Ran down the bay from Point Pleasant and out
Barnegate. Found stripers and blues,. under birds, in deeper water. Caught fish at
a faster rate as the day went on. Again there were Belmar and Point head boats on
the scene. Called it quits at 1 PM
with our limit of bass, and an overall catch of 16 bass and about 40 blues, due to
rising S/E winds and chop.
Notes: Where is everybody. This is a great information source when more people
submit reports. Except for Point charter boat reports no one is submitting from
north of Spring Lake. If your fishing from the Rocks to the Rips please take the
time. If you fish the beach, do the same thing. Anybody seen any bunker or peanut
bunker? I haven't seen a school since the out of state netters raped the beaches in
late September.
All the fish we get are feeding on sand eels. Chunking from the boat or the beach is
a waste of time. Anybody
on the beach been involved in a blue fish blitz?

Boat Name: RENEGADE
Date Fished: 11/23-24
Location: Hudson Canyon
Fishing Method: Chunk
Specie: Yellowfin Tuna
Size: 250 +
Bait or Lure: Butters
Water Depth: 450
Water Temp.: 58
Information : Taking advantage of the weather we made one last trip to the Hudson.
Arriving at the Elbow by 11:30 am under ideal conditions, we had our first yft on in
less then 5 minutes and after a 45 minute fight we had a 125 lb yft in the boat. The
next fish hit as soon as we could set back up, unfortunatly the 30TW with 50 lb test
couldn't stop him. The next hook up almost resulted in the same scenario but after a
4 hour battle of backing down, chasing the fish, dealing with an overheated drag and
passing the pole off between anglers at least 20 times we finally boated the 300 lb
bluefin by 6:30pm. The fish was fought by only 2 anglers the entire time. There was
no night or morning bight except for a 200 lb blue shark that we fought and released.
All fish were caught on 60lb flouro carbon and 50lb test. The other 2 boats we fished
with at the Elbow that afternoon had double digit catches of YFT's all over 100 +
lbs. We should have broke the BFT off after the first hour but by then it became
personal. We encountered acres of medium size BFT's on the ride home from 25 - 35
miles out of Manasquan, around Monster Ledge to the Glory Hole. We tried to troll
everything by them but they would not hit a thing.

size, and headed directly to bumps 2 mi. off Seaside. Trolling umb. rigs caught
blues. Switched to bunker spoons and caught bass. Scattered action. Ran south and
fished in the fleet off the bathing beach. Slow. Ran south and found fantastic
jigging 3mi. N/E of Old Barney in 65' of water. Caught 20+ blues, 14 bass up to 32
in. Jigged at the start with 6 boats, by 2PM the fleet grew to 5-600 boats! Didn't

bluefish. The shad rigs (both sides) picked up 5 fish with one haul back on one tow.
Three on one side, and two on the other. Fun day. Limited out both days towing the
white shad umbrella rigs on 300 feet of wire with 8 OZ drail and crippled alewive

Boat Name: Finest Kind
Date Fished: 11/22 and 11/23
Location: Seaside Heights to Manasquan Inlet
Fishing Method: trolling
Specie: Striped Bass
Size: to 32"
Bait or Lure: shad and tube umbrellas
Water Depth: 50 to 70 feet
Water Temp.: 53 -54
Information : Thanksgiving morning was very slow for us, only one short striper in 2
hours of trolling around the range buoys...quit early to go home and enjoy the Turkey
day.
We did a better today, Fished off Seaside first, then off the Thunderbird and
finished up off Manasquan Inlet. We kept 3 Stripers (32", 30" and one slot) and
released 2 blues and 2 short stripers.
The Stripers were hitting red tube umbrellas, and white shad rigs, but the biggest
Striper of the day was caught on a neon green shad rig, with the center shad removed
and replaced with a similar colored crippled alewife spoon on a 3 foot leader. No
hits on the strech 25 today.
By the way, I took a tip from the Fisherman Magazine and loaded up my trolling reels
with Power Pro braided line...Wow! No need for wire. I'm bumping bottom with a 4 oz.
drail on the umbrellas while trolling slow speed in 60 feet of water. (although you
do need to have out about 150 yds of braided in order to get that deep)
The 50 lb. test Power Pro is the same diameter as maybe 8 lb. test mono, so it CUTS
through the water with minimal drag. The no stretch factor is great when the fish
hit, solid hook ups every time...except when those pesky bluefish eat the tails off
my shad rigs!
Wow what a GORGEOUS day it was on the water today! Fishing in shirt sleeves at the
end on Novebmber, and the water calm as a Lake! I was really tempted to run out to
Monster Ledge and look for those Bluefin that have been seen poping up out
there...but then again, why burn all that gas on a long-shot, when we have this fine
Fall run going on right along the beach? :)

Bait or Lure: shad rigs
Water Depth: 50 to 70 feet
Water Temp.: 53.5
Information : Another fun day on the water with my son Bobby and nephew Kevin!
Trolling white shad umbrella rigs, we boated 16 fish in a few hours. 12 were
stripers, 4 were blues. There were many more missed strikes which must have been
blues, as the tails of our shads were constantly being clipped off.
Taking a cue from one of the posts I read here, I replaced the center shad with a
white bunker spoon on one of the umbrella rigs. This setup produced the one 30"
striper, which was hooked on the bunker spoon.
We kept him and 3 of the slots. The others were released unharmed.
Can't wait to get out there again! These fish have been around the mile marker buoy
and the old range buoy numbers for two weeks now, I wonder how much longer this can
last? Finest Kind comes out of the water on December 1st, gotta enjoy more of this
while we can!

aboard. The bigger fish were deeper (45 - 50 feet) and adding some weight to the rigs
produced several large fish to fill the limit. 35' foot depth on the rigs produced
slots only. The big guys were down deep. The shad rig's with a shad spoon tied to the

Information : Saturdays trip was cut short by 3-5fters and a serious case of
seasickness by a guest.
Sunday, on possibly the last trip of the year for the MegaBite, was a terrific,
Indian Summer day. Even broke out the bathing suit! Fishing at 14ft Lighthouse, we
had periodic action throughout the day. We got bit off a few times by big blues, we
had several shorts and managed two small keepers.

Specie: Blackfish
Size: 2-10 lbs.
Bait or Lure: Green crabs
Water Depth: 75'
Water Temp.: 55
Information : For my last trip of the year, we decided to jig stripers first. we had
a spotty pick of slot fish till 9:00 and then set up on a favorite piece for some
bait drowning. It was "drop - n - lock" for a good 2 hours or so and we limited out
with blacks, many quite nice... we didn't have to move once as all the fish were
caught on the same single drop. Hit the dock by 1:30 after dodging some real idiots
in the inlet (strong current was more than some could handle safely) I recommend
getting some real training in piloting your boat this winter if you don't already
have it... the rules of the road are for OUR safety.
Have a great winter

Bait or Lure: Pearl white shad rigs with shad spoon tied to middle
Water Depth: 70'
Water Temp.: 56
Information : Went out in the evening (7:30 PM) just to see what was doing. Put out
only one rig as I was alone. Trolled for about an hour and was not marking fish.
Moved inshore (1 mile out) and hooked into something I was clearly not prepared for.
The wire line reel lit up and as I picked up the pole it felt like I had snagged
bottom.....that wasn't it. As I lifted the tip, the drag took off and it became
apparant that this was NOT the bottom. I fought the fish for 45 minutes on 40 LB
wire. Exhausted, I yanked hard on the pole and intentionally snapped the 60-LB leader
line. I was just simply too exhausted to go on with it. It surfaced once during the
fight, I saw the shad rig's, but it was night and I only saw the top of the
fish.....and it was BIG. No clue what it was. Maybe a tuna inshore feeding at night?
Pretty wild whatever it was. Exhausted, I headed for the dock.....and several
scotch's.

point we thought this would be a great day,
little did we know this was our only fish of the day. We trolled across the rocks
and lost 3 rigs on the bottom, without
another hit. With the wind kicking up from the N/NW we decided at 10:30 to "get out
of Dodge" before it got too bad. We ran
South to Manasquan where there was a fleet 1.5 to 2 miles almost due East of the
inlet. Fished there, trolling the rigs left
in our box, for another 1.5 hours without a hit. Saw a few stripers come over the
rail of boats that were jigging, we tried
that for a few minutes with no success. Dispite the lack of cooperation from the
fish it was a good day to be on the
