Bait or Lure: Spoons
Water Depth: 58
Water Temp.: 55-59.9

Trolling off the Seaside piers produced a lots of bluefish and a one hour bite of nice stripers around the tide change. Sundays trip started at 9:00, we headed right back to the same spot hoping the bluefish would still be there to bend rods for the five kids on board ages 5 to 9. The first bite was a 21 lb. striper and the second a 19lber. The blues kept us busy after that including one around 12 lbs.. Sunday was a different story heading down to the same area I trolled for an hour without marking a fish, left there for the Shrewsbury Rocks hoping to catch the tide change. Aside from the bluefish caught on the fly rod, it was a slow morning.

Water Depth:
Water Temp.: 57
Information : Started the morning out with a Bang! Had 5 fish on before I left the wheelhouse. The bite only lasted 35 minutes before the traffic and slack tide slowed things up..Smaller fish today also, with the exception on Tom Balsamo's 39 pound 43 inch Bass..Left the area to find some jig fish after the chanbe of tide. Caught fish off the Highlands, Blues and a few Bass. Not much current down there today, so it was tough catching the bass. All in all it was a great day to be out, plenty of action and perfect weather! capt.ron

Size: 39"
Bait or Lure: Bunker
Water Depth: 22'
Water Temp.: 58
Information : We ignored the forecast and watched the radar and headed out of Atlantic Highlands at 5pm. Snagged bunker in the harbor and ran at 30kts on a flat calm bay to Old Orchard. After about ten minutes my buddie Robert Corrado bagged a nice 39" 22lb striper on a fresh chunk. My cousin John lost anice one on a live bunker a few minutes later and then the storm came. We ran over to Great Kills and waited it out while we snagged a few more bunker. After the storm passes we got up on the troll because Rob wanted some bluefish for his boss and they didn't dissapoint as we quickly put half a dozen 4 to 6 lb blues on ice. Back to Old Orchard at dusk produced a few run offs and just as many swings and misses (one by yours truly) then the lightning was seen in the distance which was my signal to get the heck out of there. So we ran home across a dark but calm bay at 10kts. All in all a nice afternoon considering we almost cancelled based on the forecast.

There was a good amount of diehards out there with us. We had a nice bag of clams as a backup. We set up right next to the bug buoy on the last hour of the incoming. Could not snag any bunker so we decided to hit the clams and WOW did that work. I dont think the clams hit the bottom as Mike was still cutting them up and the poles went wild. Within a half hour we had four monsters to 40 inches so we put away the equipment and headed back to the dock. We'll be back tommorrow!

We knew that we would catch a few but when the big Seabass started to bite it was apparent that the larger fish had moved in. After making 3 stops we had our 5 man limit of 125 Seabass up to 4 lbs. and left them biting when we started for home. On a slow ride along the beach we found the birds working over a school of Stripers and the charter proceeded to Jig 5 Bass, the largest of which was 43" and weighed in at 30 lbs. Headed down the beach, caught 3 fish on the first drop, then had wind against the tide,,,,,could it get worse? Actually not, went further to the South off the Highlands at 12:30 and started wailing the blues....managed a couple of short bass with them, just not enough. Bait or Lure: Ava 47's
Water Depth: 40 Ft.
Water Temp.: 57 Degrees
Information : Capt. Paul had the Mike Lewis charter on board the Bounty Hunter today and we decided to jig the Bass rather then use our Spoons. We located a surface feeding school of Stripers along with the working birds off Monmouth Beach and the charter proceeded to put their limit plus Bonus fish in the boat within an hour. The largest Bass was 44" and weighed in at 27 lbs. Today was by far the best Jigging we have had this season. As the bite slowed the Blues moved in and we Jigged and released over 3 dozen. Since we had our catch in the box we decided to put out the Spoons for an hour and we caught and released 5 more Bass, all over 36". We called it a day at 10AM. with 13 Bass in the box.

Information : Why can't I get a job making a ton of money to be wrong most of the time!!! Weatherman took away a perfect fishing day for those who didn't come because of the report.....Had one of the best days of the season on big fish! Limited out, came in early!! Largest of the day 22 pounds.....Sorry, but I was stupid enough to put in yesterdays report that the next few days looked like we would loose a few trips. After the last, god knows how many times I got burned...will never do that again..unless it's a dam Hurrican!!!!!! capt. Ron Chartered for the Saturday afternoon trip this week 5/13/06

Location: ocean
Fishing Method:
Specie: Striped Bass
Size:
Bait or Lure:
Water Depth:
Water Temp.: 56
Information : Started the morning out with a shot of fish, Shorts and keepers...Once the current ran out into the East wind it started to get nasty. Left the beach, headed for the knoll...picked away on some nicer size fish. Not great fishing, but with the conditions, I'm surprized anything bit! Probably going to loose a few trips the next 2 days with the weather...not too many places to hide and catch fish with East wind and outgoing tide. I'm sure the rain will keep customers home also......Is this April????? capt. ron

Specie: Striped Bass
Size:
Bait or Lure: clams
Water Depth:
Water Temp.: 56
Information : Finally!!!! A decent day, Started out a little shakey with only 1 nice keeper where I fished yesterday. The bite today was right at slack tide (which we missed,) once the current started to run, that was it...got out of there fast! Fished the beach off of Highlands, very nice bite till 11:30 then a pick till the end of the tide. Nice mix of fish with plenty of slots for the action. Keepers up to 15.4 pounds...with a few guys catching their limits. Jermey Kapler, Bernardsville N.J. (a first time Striper fishermen) caught his limit and won the pool with the 15.4 pounder. Getting back to yesterday for a minute....all that crap I anchored on without doing much decided to bite around 4:45pm!!!! Almost exactly where I was fishing....Had a buddy of mine call (too rub it in) to say they were all over the place....Thanks. Capt. Ron
