Location: not sure
Fishing Method: bait
Specie: Tautog
Size: 2-6lbs
Bait or Lure: clams, crab
Water Depth: not sure
Water Temp.: 40's
Information : jumped on the fisherman out of atlantic highlands for the 730-230 trip
on saturday. Not bad fishing, caught 2 blackfish, one short one about 6lbs(second
heaviest fish on board) 3 small ling, 1 mackerel, and then overwhelmed by tiny
bergall. Fishing was decent i guess there were some nice ling taken, of course i
didn't get them though as usual, and the pool winner was about an 8lb blackfish.
Whoever said crab is the bait of choice is full of it, because i caught my 2 blacks
on clam, and most of the others were brought in on clam. In addition with clam you
could catch everything else in the water. Clam seems to be the way to go for right
now. Next week I'll try it out again with my new beautiful St. Croix rod, I'M TIRED
OF FISHING FIBERGLASS!!

Location: Barnegat Bay
Fishing Method: anchor
Specie: Winter Flounder
Size: 12-16 inches
Bait or Lure: bloodworm and muscle
Water Depth: 8 ft
Water Temp.: 48
Information : We had a preety good day. We were 300 yards straight out of the Surf
City boat ramp. Between the three of us, we got 18 flounder. Missed a few too. We
fished from around 7:30 to 1:00. The trick was to chum like hell. We used six milk
containers full of crushed muscles, corn, and rice. Homemade chum works
best...saves a lot of money. Here is another tip: If you don't feel like getting
ripped off buying bloodworms, buy a $3 bag of muscles from your local supermarket.
They work just as good, especially if you use muscle chum.

Boat Name: Prowler V
Date Fished: 3/9/2002
Location: deep wrecks
Fishing Method: bottom fishing
Specie: Ling (AKA Red Hake)
Size: up to 3 pounds
Bait or Lure: clams, bergal strips, mackrel tubes
Water Depth: 100'
Water Temp.: NA
Information : My father and I decided to jump aboard the Prowler Saturday
morning and hoped that the winds would hold off. Luckily for us, the winded didn't
blow that hard until the very last portion of the trip. First drop produced imeadate
action with ling. They were biting really light. The guys that knew what they were
doing had no problem boxing 15-20. Second and thrid drops produced some scattered
ling and blackfish action, but not enough to sustain the bite. In both cases Captain
Scott was quick to haul anchor in search of fishier wrecks. Last stop of the day
once again produced a good catch of ling. As an added bonus, there was a huge school
or mackrel holding from 20' below the surface all the way to the bottom. Half of the
fairs switched over to mackrel rigs and were catching them 3 and 4 at a time. Final
total for my father and I, 16 ling and 100+ mackrel...most of which were released.
Thanks again to Captain Scott and the crew of the Prowler V...great boat and a great
day.

Date Fished: 3-9-02
Location: Offshore Wrecks
Fishing Method: Lures, and Bait
Specie: Ling (AKA Red Hake)
Size: 2lbs maybe 3
Bait or Lure: Mackerel Tree, clam, cut mackerel
Water Depth: 100-140ft
Water Temp.: ~43 degrees
Information : Went fishing for 3-9pm trip on the Norma K. Started off Mackerel
fishing, used a 10oz weight attached to a mackerel tree, and just reeled them in 2-3
fish at a time, at about 1.5lbs max i'm assuming. Easy fishing, all you have to do is
be at the right depth and that's it. Switched over to Ling fishing, threw some cut
mackerel on a ling rig, and within about 10 mins i caught the first ling to be
brought aboard, which turned out to be the pool winner as well. Took 120 dollars
with a not so impressive fish, but who cares right. The daytime trip looked much
better, much bigger ling, more mackerel, and plenty of eels, pollock, and blackfish
to spice up the catch. Bottom fishing is good right now, and mackerel fishing is
unbelievable. Stay away from stripers and flounder right now, it's abysmal

Bait or Lure: Blood Worms, Clams, Sand Worms.
Water Depth: 3ft-20ft
Water Temp.: Real Cold
Information : ...First day of fishing for the year...What a stinker. Went on the Sea
Tiger out of the Atlantic Highlands. Great Captian, even better First Mate. But even
they couldn't get a fish in my bucket. Maybe 35 guys and two girls on the boat and
only three fish over the rail. $160 pool was taken by a 13 ounce postage stamp of a
flounder. Add two pounds of potatoes a bisquit and some veggies and maybe you might
have a meal.
...Water was calm, the skies were sunny and we had an outgoing tide. I had a real
good time bonding with friends so it wasn't a bad day overall. No rude fish to
interupt the conversation. I'll let the water warm up a bit before I go venturing out
for the flatties again. Good Luck.
