Information : Capt. Paul had the Josh Olivo charter on board the Bounty Hunter today. Starting at the Shrewsbury Rocks all we had to show after 2 hours of fishing was 1 Bluefish. It was a large Blue weighing in at 14 Lbs. Moving 5 miles to the east we got into the smaller 1 1/2 to 3 Lb. Blues. The charter kept 24 fish and released another couple of dozen. Bunker & Butterfish chunks worked best.

Information : Started fishing the ridge at 7:30. Trolled for 1 1/2 hours only baby blues and very dirty yellow green water. Picked up and headed to the Fingers to find better water. Same water and temp. Trolled feathers for 1 1/2 hours and only a few big blues. Weather got calmer so we decided to stay. Set up an oil slick for about 2 hours, nothing not even a blue. Pray for strong NW wind to blow all this ugly water out. Saw blue water in the fingers last week, so there is hope. TightLines

Information : Fished the Flukemasters tourney this weekend, great tournament only one I know of that is based on total weight of 5 fish. Not 1 lucky fish. Our boat placed 4th with 22.5 lbs, within onces of the 3rd place boat. Ended the day with 15 keeper fluke, only 2 sea robbins and 4-5 short fluke were caught. The five fish weighed in for the tourney measured respectively at 27', 25, 22',22',21'. The other 10 fish caught measured 19'-20'. Good effort on the water Jim,C, Jim T., and Johnny C. Wish more SANDY HOOK/RARITAN BAY Fluke tournaments were based on the weight of 5 fish. Unfortunately the turnout of 73 boats was not as good as expected which resulted in smaller prize money. Would have been happy to win $10 bucks to know where we stood with 73 other boats on a Saturday of Fluking.

Information : Went to the GE Reef for some bottom fishing and got nothing. I mean not even a shark or sea robin. No one out there was doing anything. Heard a report at the Ham about bonita, bluefish, and dolphi; so we went 5 miles further out and trolled the Ham for two hours. Had one bonita knockdown on a pink artificial squid/bird combo but he spit the hook. Only two other boats in the area each with one or two fish. Went back to the reef with little success. First trip we have been skunked all year.

Then Traci, my buddies wife was showing us all up with a hole bunch of shorties. Sluggun Ray caught a few shorts but he was too busy baiting his wifes hook to fish hard. Scotty kid hooked into a couple and ReeluglyRob had a good time bringing in quite a few shorts and one keeper at 19"...... We needed more then one keeper to bring home so we dug up about 150 clams so it was a very good day!

Information : Captain Phil Dulanie and mates Jay Richardella and Mike Zajac took the Steven Gress charter from Washington, D.C. out to the Lindencohl Canyon on Friday and found plenty of action. However, once again, while we went 14 for 18 on yellowfin and longfin the 12 yellowfin we put in the boat were small and we released 10 keeping 2 that were barely 25 pounds. The longfin were decent fish weighing 50 pounds each. For the first trip in a while we did not have any Mahi.

Information : Started the troll late afternoon, afer an hour we hooked what appeared to be a White Marlin (and a nice one). After she was hooked, she did several head shakes and was able to throw the hook after a minute or so. Saw a couple of big Blue Marlin free jumping as well with no hook up. No tuna on the evening troll. Started the chunk around 9:00PM and it was non existant- FIRST TIME IN HISTORY WE HAD NOTHING ON THE CHUNK. After 1:00AM lines began to go straight up to the bow. Started the troll in the morning and picked up a couple of Yellows. Tough trip, but O.K., better than working!!!!! We'll get 'em next time

Information : Capt. Phil Dulanie and mates Jay Richardella and Mike Zajac had the Bill Erdman charter out on the Canyon Runner Thursday for a day of canyon trolling. While the tuna did not cooperate the billfish did. On our way trolling south from the Toms Canyon our first fish of the day attached the flat line at 6:30am. The big Blue Marlin inhaled a ballyhoo trolled behind and blue/white Ilander and the fight was on. After 2 hours on a Penn International 50W on matching standup tackle Jay leadered the 120 inch Blue estimated at 500-600 pounds and Mike billed it, unhooked it, revived it and she swam away. The rest of the day was much less eventful as we picked 4 mahi with 2 over 20 pounds and released only one small yellowfin.

Information : Went out and the wind was blowing. Was originally supposed to go on 7/17 but the forecast was looking bad. But once again they were wrong. Anyway, got to Massey at 7:45am and got on the hook. I stayed away from the fleet and looked for my own structure. Within 45 minutes we had two on. Mine got off but my friend was on. In 25 minutes the fish was in the boat. I rigged that line back up and put it back out. Then went into the cabin to get a hook and I hear FISH ON! This fish was brutal it took over an hour. It wrapped around the anchor, we were physically exhausted and finally got it in. My partner and I said we had enough, and were done fishing by 10:40 am. Great day dispite rough seas. By the way all hits were just off the bottom. 4oz egg sinker with 6 foot 50lb fluorocarbon did the trick.

Information : Calm day with light breeze until late in the day. Started on top of the Ridge with several other charter and party boats at anchor. A slow/steady pick for several hours, then a move to the edge of the Ridge and back on anchor. The move paid off plenty with a steady pick of bluefish, mostly hitting jigs. These nice eating size fish provided everyone on the boat with plenty of action, including the young boys Kyle, Casey and Bobby. A trip most will remember for a long time. Thanks to Captain Sam and Mate Fred (who put up with some flying jigs and hooks) for an enjoyable day.

Information : The five anglers from Doylestown PA had a productive day with the fluke and sea bass, and a 15lb bass for a bonus. We had to move around alot on the rocky bottom to find the keeper fish but the sea bass kept everyone busy all day. With almost no drift for most of the day the group managed a nice catch at the days end.

We pick-up 5 really nice fluke between 18 & 20 " great weather and a great drift. We left them bitting and 12:00 had to work yuk.

Information : Ran out to the mud bouy and fished bottom. Everything we dropped down got hit but we could get any up to the boat. The bottom was very active but we were rigged for large fish and had a hard time hooking them. It was very rough for are small boat so we didn't stay out long. Did manage one nice blackfish.

Information : We started along sandy hook channel where all the fish were keepers, but fishing was slow. We then left and went along the beach where the fishing was nonstop. the only problem was most of the fluke were shorts. We caught around 35 shorts. We ended the day early with 10 keepers. Almost all were caught on long strips of fluke bellie.

Information : Having only two anglers on board(Dad and me) didn"t seem hurt the amount of fish we caught or put in the box. Another great weather day and the fish bit well. First drift on the 600 line to 50 ' produced 5 keepers.We tried it again with only shorts and some nine seabass. Moving north to Longbranch worked out well with two fish back to back in the six pound class. Ended the day with 12 keepers and alot of shorts for action.

Information : The Fluke fishing on the Klondike really turned off. I think Chris from Chicken of the Sea was right about the commerical guys cleaning out the fish. Last Sunday I had 17 keepers between 4 guys and over 80 throw backs and this week we got 3 fluke and one keeper. We moved in and out and still did not find the fish. Join the RFA, JCAA or one of the recreational fishing organizations so we will have a voice. Next year I hear we may have a 17 1/2 inch min. size. We make all the sacrifices and still get beat up!!!

Information : went out at 8 am --hit a school of small blues under working birds at the tip of the hook ,caught a dozen or so and a herring on a teaser--started fluking from flynns knoll down the beach and had some non stop fluking for about two hours,caugt about 60 fluke between the two of us,though only 7 were keepers--fluke loved the fresh herring strips,nice to see better fluking even though keepers are hard to come by--also nailed about 20-30 robins,skates in all so we were busy most of the day

Information : Took a few days off and put my 9 ft. outcast pontoon in Lake Louise to head out for the Manasquan inlet. Started out with a few short fluke and a sea robin on the first couple drifts in the channels. When the tide changed, the first couple hours of the incoming was non stop action. Stronger winds forced me to anchor, but it didn't matter.Fan casting was producing fish on every cast. Next day anchored same place,almost same time,with same results. This time Trout Bob was with me to join in on the action. In the 2 days out of about 40 fluke caught 2 were keepers 18" and 20". Great weather, clean water, and lots of fish. "SWEET"

Information : The John Light charter was on board the Bounty Hunter today and decided to pass on the Blues and go Seabass fishing. Capt. Paul made his way south 18 miles and worked 5 small snags in an effort to put together a catch. On each drop you would catch 15 to 25 keepers along with 50 to 75 shorts. At the end of the day we managed to box 96 Seabass. However, the charter had to work it's way thru a ton of short fish in order to make the catch.

Information : First canyon trip of the year proved to be a sucess. Got to the tip of Tom's about 5:30PM and we immediately got double hook ups on yellowfin. Boated both of those w/ the bigger being around 55lbs. Set up for the chunk and we worked it hard and picked up two yellowfin and a beauty of a Mahi. Started trolling around 5:30AM and had three more small yellows that we released (triple hookup). Great trip considering we lost all our electronics in the middle of the night. We kind of felt our way around trolling in the morning. Good crew in getting us right back to the inlet in excellent time.

Information : We had a tough time ealry in the day due to a lack of current. We fluked for a few hours at the tip of the hook to catch 3 keepers to 18" and then went back to clamming. Fluking was a waste, too many shorts and no consistancy. Around 1 in the afternoon the tide started moving fast enough where we caught 5 bass in 2 hours up to a 35". Nothing like the bassing we've experienced lately, but they are still there if you are willing to work for them. Water is warming up fast so we will have to make a trip soon before they are gone. Also too many blues are invading the knoll making it tough to get to the bass that are there. We had over 25 today. What a pain, but we couldn't complain about not having action.

Information : Had the Joel Frey party on board for the annual "Fourth of July Exploratory" Canyon trip. Began trolling 7 miles short of the dropoff and boated a 40lb yellowfin. When we reached the edge we boated 5 for 5 and then 4 for 4 smaller yellowfins which were released. At 6:30pm we hooked up with a 250-300 lb blue marlin and in the 20knt winds we were backing down for 1 1/2 hours before the leader was grabbed and the fish was released. What a beautiful site to behold! We chunked all night with no runoffs and trolled in the morning till 10am when we boated 3 for 3 smaller yellowfins which were released. The party had constant action during the day and with the acres of porpoises and pilot whales plus the blue Marlin it will be a day long remembered!

Information : We got out there at around 1:30 today. A late start for us. My daughter,grandaughter, and I started drifting from the Manasquan Inlet. The drift was a South to North drift. Very quick. We hooked 4 short fluke right off along with 5 decent sized sea robbins. We were about to give up when my grandaughter hooked a 17' fluke, followed quickly by my daughter's 18' fluke. We left the ocean at 5:45 or so. We would have liked to get more fluke, but it wasn't in the cards. Maybe next time. Good Luck Y'all.

Information : Chummed on the drift. Strong breeze from the south made conditions difficult for anchoring. 600 feet of line was not enough to snag the bottom with the "little hook". Managed a few good sized Bluefish.

Information : Captin Barry took the Verizon charter, Lucky and Duggy out on monday for a fine day of striper fishing. Dug had the first fish on at 5:45 am. and we Left them biting around noon. The action was noonstop. A few double header's, a mix of cocktail size bluefish and good weather all added to the excitment of the day. All aboard limited out on striper's with as many as a dozen returned unharmed to fight again. Many thank's to the "Clam Man" for a job well done. Tight Line's Lucky

Information : Went for our first canyon trip of the year. Trolled all afternoon and chumed all night all we maqnaged was a blue shark that liked to eat hand fed Mackeral. Trolled from the hudson to the glory hole and put a couple of small bft in the boat.Great weather and good company made for a great trip

Information : Started out at 7am, sunny and clear not extremely hot. Drifted all day long without a single hit. followed three party boats (The Sea Pigeon, Sea Wolf and Misty Morn) I don't think they had much luck either. Didn't see there mates pulling many keepers over the side. I'll hand it to their Capitains, they kept moving to try and find the fish. I gave up at 2pm. nothin biting. Don't know what I was down wrong? Great day on the water!
