FISHING REPORTS FOR FEBRUARY 2001
Angler Name : Dave Granholm
E-Mail : insuk@bellatlantic.net
Boat Name: Nighthawk
Date Fished: Saturday, Feb 24th
Location: Out of Belmar / Shark River
Fishing Method: Wreck
Specie: Ling (AKA Red Hake)
Size: 1 - 3 pounds
Bait or Lure: bottom fishing
Water Depth: ? 50 - 100 feet
Water Temp.: cold
Information : About 25 crazy fishermen went out on the Nighthawk's evening ling trip (5PM - 10PM).
The ocean was calm and beautiful and ling had been caught on the boat's daytime trip. However, the
ling did not cooperate!! Personally, I only had 2 quick bites all night and zero fish caught. The
majority of us on the boat got skunked! Great caption, worked hard to put us on fish but to no
avail. I estimate only a dozen or less total ling came over the rail. (I VERY MUCH appreciated the
$7.00 off the next trip offered by the Nighthawk caption.) The captain extended the trip until
midnight to try to put us on fish, but it wasn't to be. Oh well, the beer was cold. I'll be
back!
