Information : I went out with Captain Ray on the Mad Gaffer for the last trip of 2006. We went back to where he found the fish at the end of the day on Saturday. We picked fish for a while until the tide changed our anchor position. We decided to try another spot, but quickly came back and re-anchored on the original spot. Continued to pick at shorts and keepers for the rest of the day. The boat ended up with 40 + keepers for 6 anglers. It should not be a poblem filling the 4 fish limit in the New Year. Captain Ray will continue to fish through January and possibly into February if the weather holds. Please call him at 703-803-6276 if you want a full day of fishing!!

Boat Name: FISHERMEN
Date Fished: 12/31/06
Location: ocean
Fishing Method:
Specie: Striped Bass
Size:
Bait or Lure: jigs
Water Depth:
Water Temp.: 41
Information : What a way to end 2006! Had one last shot at pulling the last rabbit for the year outta you know where..Started between the channels on what looked like it was gonna be good fishing, only to pick at a few shorts and 1 keeper. Bird life didn't last long at all, even less than yesterday.headed down the beach to the Rocks, caught 2 fish there. Went offshore to deeper water, after the third stop we found a very nice pile of fish and landed 6 keepers. Went back to the mark I left on the plotter, couldn't find them anywhere, looked around a few more stops, nothing. Went to the Fishermen buoy and didn't even stop, no readings or bait. Headed back up to the channels looking for the change of tide bite, found a thousand gannets hitting the water just short of Ambrose...another ride but it was more than worth it. Had fish up to 16 pounds with several guys limiting out. Best action in 3 days and one hell of a way to close out 2006!! Fishing everyday this week except Monday....As long as it ain't over, I'll keep going!......Happy New Year. Capt.ron

Getting in on the tail end of the action we pulled Spoons and put 5 keepers in the fish box. A switch over to Jigging with Ava's only produced over 20 shorts. A few fish on each drift, smaller ones. Lost the current like yesterday but figured when the tide changed the bite would turn back on. No such luck, never got the current and never had any drift. At 12:00pm we headed back up to the channels, figured with 2 1/2 hours left of the incoming we would find a float..WRONG! Stopped the boat on a piece of bottom and hardly moved. We did manage 2 very nice fish though, a 21 pound pool fish and a 14 pound keeper, one on a herring, the other on an eel...Very dissapointing after yesterday.....now you know why I drink!!! Capt.Ron

Information : Hello to all the fishermen out there. We are simply catching HUGH blackfish, the last 3 days. Starting Saturday, we had aboad Nick DiSarrio and crew. The first fish brought up by Nick was 6 lbs. ! Not a bad start. We caught some other keepers and then Tommy Birds caught an 11 lb. monster. We thought that was the large fish for the day, but it was not. The last fish of the day and the biggest was a whistle fish. Nick again did it , this time with a 13 lb. slob !! It was Nick's largest blackfish ever. We also had plenty of fish in the 6-8 lb. range and ended the day with over 30 boxed and many shorts released. With that 13 lb. fish that Nick caught, the record for the largest tog caught on the ' Just One More' fell. The old record of 12 lbs., which was caught by yours truely, was blown out of the water with Nick's fish. Congratulations Nick. Sunday, Nick was back but with a different crew. Hugh blackfish were caught again. The largest of the day, was another WHOPPER at 12 lbs. and was caught by Bill Stephens from New Century Transportation. Bill never blackfished before but caught 15 fish total. We had plenty of fish again in the 5-7 lb. range. Monday had the Frank Blanch charter aboard and we had a super catch again. We started off by casting to the birds in the bay and landed about a dozen schoolie stripers. Then we hit the tog grounds. And the fight was on ! The fish were only up to 8 lbs. this time. But Frank's brother in law, Mike, had on and lost two fish that would have given the large fish from the days before a run for their money!! The stiff rod was bent in half both times but the line broke on structure. It has been super blackfishing. I have never seen blackfish this big and so consistant. So I was going to pull the boat out of the water this week. But with the blackfishing sooooo good and the weather going to be in the 60's for the next week or so, I am going to stay in longer. They are calling for 60 PLUS degrees on Thursday ! I am open all week, this weekend, and the beginning of next week. Who wants to catch some slob TOG ? www.just1morecharters.com 908-472-2684

We had another early pick on the Bass but by 11AM it was over for us. The charter picked thru the short fish and boxed 7 Stripers up to 33" while releasing over 40 shorts. Information : Had my Dad do the leg work for me this morning..he drove down the beach in search of bird life. After not sailing yesterday and the bay being very dirty, we needed all the help we could get. Sure enough the phone rang and he found life off the Highlands...Jigged all day, mostly short fish with some keepers mixed in. Tough chasing them around though, we would stop, get a quick shot of fish and they would be up 1/4 mile away. Had a few better shots at the change of tide. I took me 2 hours trying to get the guys to turn the handles to catch the fish...there chasing bait, the lures have to move...at least today they did. Fish were feeding on Squid and Herring...27's, 47's, crippled hearing and heavier storms or shad bodies worked best. I would think Sundays bite should be better, water will be a little cleaner and we'll have another hour of tide. Weather also looks great for next week....sailing as long as we can...Capt.ron

Specie: Striped Bass
Size: Up to 30"
Bait or Lure: Ava 87's & Krocodiles
Water Depth: 50 Ft.
Water Temp.: 50 Degrees
Information : The Ron Werner charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and we headed up to the area off Monmouth Beach. After getting reports of some good Striper activity in the area yesterday we were hoping that the bite would continue today. We found the birds working on schools of Bass in 50 Ft. and broke out the Jigs. Plenty of shorts and not to many keeper Bass was the story. To make it interesting the Alligator Blues were mixed in with the Bass. We got in 2 hours of Jigging before the South wind came on. The 2 man charter boxed 2 Keeper Bass up to 30" and released over 25 shorts. We also kept 4 large Blues while releasing another 5. By 11AM the wind was up to 25 Knots and by Noon it was over 30 Knots. That ended the day for us as the conditions became unfishable and we headed for home in a very angry ocean.

Information : Never had to leave the bay today. Started fishing 10 minutes from the dock and didn't stop catching till it was time to come home! All on Jigs and mostly smaller fish. We did manage a couple of keepers...Storm shads work the best, although we did catch them on jigs also. Fish are anywhere from our bay all the way down the beach to long branch. Water temp was 45 today. Loads of peanut bunker and hearing seem to be what they are feeding on....With the amount of fish around, the last thing I want to hear from the political idiots is there is no Bio-Mass!!! They should be here now.....capt.ron

Water Depth: 75 Ft.

Information : Capt. Paul had the "Mac" MacSherry charter on board the Bounty Hunter and headed East to work a few drops for Blackfish. With the Sun rise the NW wind came on and made for some rough fishing conditions. The day long 30 knot wind and the 3 to 5 ft. seas made feeling the bites difficult. The charter toughed it out and despite the handicap was able to box 25 nice size Tog up to 8 lbs. We fished 3 drops and caught keeper Tog on all 3.

Angler Name : Werner Sprie
E-Mail : captpaul@bountyhuntercharters.com
Boat Name: Bounty Hunter
Date Fished: 12/02/2006
Location: Raritan Bay
Fishing Method: Clamming
Specie: Striped Bass
Size: Up to 30"
Bait or Lure: Clams
Water Depth: 25 Ft.
Water Temp.: 54 Degrees
Information : Release fisherman Werner Sprie was on board and Capt. Paul ran the Bounty Hunter up into Raritan Bay. The 25 knot NW wind did not make for comfortable fishing conditions but it did not keep the Stripers from biting. While anchored in 25 Ft. the Bass bit the entire outgoing tide. Almost all were in the 26" to 27" range with a couple that made keeper size. However there were plenty of Bass to be caught as we finished the day just short of 100 Bass released.
