Bounty Hunter Sportfishing

06/28/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Ron Horwath on board the Bounty Hunter. Clearing the Inlet at 5AM the Bunker were thick within a quarter mile. We loaded the livewell and snagged our first Bass in the process. Working the pods off Manasquan we landed a second Bass. It looked like we were in for some good fishing but within an hour the traffic shut the Bass down and it was over for us. A report of a Bass bite on Jigs to the north prompted a quick move but all we could find were "Alligator Blues". The charter kept a few and we were out of there quickly. No other Bass were encountered. I am sailing Open Boat for Seabass on July 6 & 8. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve you spot.

06/27/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the "Mac" MacSherry charter on board the Bounty Hunter for a day of Seabass fishing. With the water temperature warming up (70 Degrees)offshore the Seabass were more active. Capt. Paul made 3 stops and after fishing thru over 100 shorts the charter put a nice catch of 70 Seabass up to 4 lbs. in the fish box along with 5 Ling. A 2 hour stop on the way in to try for Fluke on the Sea Girt Reef only produced a handful of shorts. July is a Fluke, Seabass, Bluefish month. Call 732-323-8700 today to reserve your day. Don't miss out on some great fishing.

06/26/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Ken Steiner charter joined Capt. Paul for a day of Striper fishing. We came out of the Inlet turned right and were into the Bunker immediately. The charter snagged and filled the Livewell and we worked our way to the south. The Bunker pods were thick from Bay Head down to Lavellette and we had our first keeper Bass off Mantoloking. Over the next 3 hours we added 3 more big Bass to the catch. We had several missed opportunities but finished up the day with 4 nice Bass on ice. I am running an open boat on July 1,3,6,8 & 12. Call 732-323-8700 for specific details.

06/25/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Vincent Elia charter got in on a much improved Seabass fishery. Capt. Paul made 4 stops on snags which did not produce well over the last month but with a slight increase in bottom temperature the Seabass came on. We had a slow start on our first drop but the fishing improved on the next three. The charter put together a respectable catch of 70 Seabass along with 6 large Ling and a 23" Fluke. I will be running an open boat on July 1,3,6,8 & 12. Call 732-323-8700 for specific details.

06/24/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Mac MacSherry charter on board the Bounty Hunter today. We started the day snagging Bunker in hopes of being able to locate some Striped Bass but that was not the case. Searching from Belmar up to the Rocks proved futile. We decided to switch over to Fluke fishing and spent the next 4 hrs. drifting off Monmouth Beach down to Asbury Park. We had over 50 Fluke bites but only boxed 2 keepers along with several Seabass. I will be running an open boat on the following dates July 1, 3, 6, 7 & 12. Call 732-323-8700 for specific details and pricing.

06/23/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Tim Martisofski charter on board the Bounty Hunter for the first Bluefish charter of the year. It took a little bit of searching but we finally caught up to the Blues 14 miles east of Belmar. The fish were in the slick within minutes and the 5 man charter caught them on Jigs and bait. It was good fishing and the group kept 10 fish / man then called it a day. Bluefish are here now. Call 732-323-8700 and book your day now. Don't miss the bite.

06/21/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Mike Frenzel charter joined Capt. Paul for a day of Seabass fishing. The persistant south wind has put a damper on the Seabass bite as reports from Dive boats have reported a 46 degree bottom temperature. We made 5 drops today and after picking a few keeper size fish on each drop the bite turned off. After 5 stops the 4 man charter had a total of 40 Seabass, 3 Ling and our first 18" Fluke of the year. Book your July Fluke, Bluefish, Seabass or Striper charter today. Call Capt. Paul at 732-323-8700 today.

06/20/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Ray Walter charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and Capt. Paul ran south. There were plenty of Bunker schools along the beach from Pt. Pleasant to IBSP but the trick was to find the schools that had Bass under the Bunker. We worked several areas and landed 1 Bass off Mantoloking and we landed another 2 off Seaside Park in 50 ft. of water. The 3 Bass weighed in at 31 lbs., 32 lbs. and 36 lbs. Along with the Bass we kept 6 Bluefish. Book your July Fluke, Bluefish/Fluke Combo, Seabass or Striper charter today. Call 732-323-8700 and ask for Capt. Paul

06/19/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Bob McColgan charter on board the Bounty Hunter. With no good reports comming down from the north we decided to head south where an early morning bite was on. We ran down to Seaside Heights and set up on the schools of bunker. Some had Bass under them most did not. We managed to put 2 Stripers in the fish box the largest at 43". There were plenty of Bluefish for the taking on the Bunker schools also. Our charter kept 10.

06/18/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Frank Ruddy charter on board the Bounty Hunter and headed north in search of the big Bass. We located the Stripers spread out off Asbury Park but there were plenty of Dogfish mixed in. We set up drifts in 60 ft. of water and managed to put 5 Bass in the boat despite the constant Dogfish attacks on the baits. The sizes varied from 35" up to Frank's personal best a 49" Bass which weighed in at 40 lbs. on the digital scale. July dates for Bluefish, Fluke, Seabass, & Stripers are still available. Call 732-323-8700 and ask for Capt. Paul.

06/17/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Gordon Weir charter was on board the Bounty Hunter for a day of Seabass fishing. Capt. Paul ran to the SE of Manasquan Inlet and put in a long day. We anchored on 6 wrecks and it was obvious from the first drop that last nights south wind had shut down the Seabass bite. We only picked a few fish on each drop but saved the day when one wreck gave up over 20 fish. We finished up the day with 35 Seabass and a handful of Ling. Book your July charter now. I will be sailing for Fluke, Blues, Seabass and Stripers. Call 732-323-8700 and ask for Capt. Paul.

06/16/08
Captain Paul reports:
It was another good Striper day on board the Bounty Hunter as Capt. Paul put the Ken Steiner charter on the Big Bass in the early AM. With an overflowing bait well we got into the Bass north of Manasquan Inlet and the bite was wild. The Bass crashed the baits as fast as we could get them out. Within an hour and a half we had a 3 man limit of 9 Bass up to 32 lbs. plus 3 Bonus fish in the fish box. Another 13 bites were missed. We then went into the release mode and released another dozen big Bass. The bite slowed with the increased boat traffic and we had a slow pick of Bass all of which were released. By noon it was over for us and we headed home. Book your July Bluefish, Fluke, Seabass or Striper charter now. Call 732-323-8700 and ask for Capt. Paul.

06/14/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul stayed away from the inshore Striper madness on Saturday and headed offshore with the Keith Frederick charter for a relaxing day of Seabass fishing. We made 5 stops on wrecks in 65 to 90 ft. of water and despite the persistant South winds over the past week were able to put together a nice catch of 80 Seabass up to 3 1/2 lbs. After fishing along the beach for Stripers it was nice to only see 1 boat all day and he was 4 miles away. Book your July Fluke, Bluefish, Striper or Seabass charter today. Call 732-323-8700 and ask for Capt. Paul.

06/13/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Mick Pirolli charter on board the Bounty Hunter for a day of Striper fishing. We started early in the AM off Belmar and had a 25 lb. Bass inhale our Snag while trying to land our first bait. From that point on the action never stopped. We had the big Stripers biting non stop for 4 hours. The charter had no problem putting a 12 fish limit catch in the fish box. None of the Bass was under 20 lbs. and the largest weighed in at 33 lbs. Several more Bass were released. A handful of Bluefish got in on the bite but they were not a problem. July is Fluke and Bluefish month. Don't miss the action, call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

06/11/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Brian Mcfadden family was on board the Bounty Hunter and Capt. Paul headed up to the Shrewsbury Rocks. Early morning drifting with live Bunker was futile as we never got a bite. Anchoring in 35 Ft. and chunking while using live Bunker and fresh dead got us into a non stop Bluefish bite but the charter saved the day by landing 4 big Bass up to 43" in lenght. Along with the Bass the charter kept 10 Blues and released over 35. July days for Fluke, Seabass, Stripers and Bluefish are still available. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

06/10/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul switched over to Seabass fishing with the Tom Green charter. Making stops on 5 wrecks the fishing was hit and miss. Three of the stops had very little life on them while the other 2 allowed the charter to put together a catch of just under 60 Seabass up to 4 lbs. Days are still available in July for Fluke, Bluefish, Stripers and Seabass. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

06/09/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Bob McColgan charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and got in on one of the best Striper days of our season. Staring at the Rocks in the AM the bite was slow but we picked away and boxed 5 Bass. A call from Capt. Steve (Skylarker) that there was a good bite going on off Asbury Park prompted a fast move and we ran south. Steve was right on the money as the Bass were crashing on Bunker everywhere. Our charter wasted no time putting another 6 big Cows in the boat the largest measuring just under 50" which came in at 35 lbs. Striper, Seabass, Fluke and Bluefish days still remain available in July. Call 732-323-8700 to get in on some great summertime fishing.

06/08/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Brad Fletcher family was on board the Bounty Hunter today and what a difference a day makes. We loaded up the live well with Bunker and returned to the Shrewsbury Rocks. Drifting livies we had our first fish within 20 minutes. As we went thru the learning process we dropped several big fish then the charter got their timing down and we went 8 for 15 on big Bass ranging in size from 20 lbs to 32 lbs. finishing up with 9 nice keepers on ice. Days for Fluke, Seabass, Stripers and Bluefish are still available in July. Call 732-323-8700 to book your day.

06/07/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Jason Brock charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and Capt. Paul once again stopped and loaded up the livewell. After running up to the Rocks and setting up drifts in 65 ft. the charter not only enjoyed the great weather but went 4 for 8 on big Bass. The fish ranged in size from 39" to 45" with the largest comming in at 30+ pounds. July dates for Fluke, Blues, Stripers and Seabass are still available. Don't miss out on some great fishing. Call 732-323-8700 and reserve your day.

06/06/08
Captain Paul reports:
It was another tough day on board the Bounty Hunter as the Dan English charter was on board for a day of Striper fishing. Capt. Paul stopped off Spring Lake in the AM and we put 2 dozen Bunker in the livewell. Running north up to the Shrewsbury Rocks we got in on some solid reads but the Bluefish destroyed us. We had boats around us doing well with the Bass but all we could manage was a good Bluefish bite. The charter finished up the day with one 44" Bass weighing in at 25 lbs. I am now booking Fluke, Striper, Bluefish & Seabass charters for July. Call 732-323-8700 to get in on the action.

06/05/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Hal Hall charter had a tough day of Seabass fishing aboard the Bounty Hunter, Capt. Paul did his best to put together a good catch for the charter but it was not easy going. It was obvious that the strong South winds from the previous day had shut down the Seabass as stopping on 8 pieces only produced just under 35 Seabass for the charter. While snagging Bunker baits on the way in off Bay Head we not only got our bait but the charter also landed 1 nice 18 lb. Striper. I am now booking Striper, Seabass, Fluke and Bluefish charters for July. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

06/03/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the "Mac" MacSherry charter on board the Bounty Hunter today and returned to the Snags & Hangs to the SE of Manasquan Inlet. The lack of wind in the AM made for tough anchoring conditions but by Noon we had a brisk SE wind which improved the fishing. Anchoring on 5 pieces the charter pulled keeper Seabass up to 4 lbs. at each stop along with too many short Seabass to count plus over a dozen large Tog which were released. At the end of the day we had 90 Seabass boxed on ice along with a handful of Ling. I still have days available in July for Stripers, Blues, Fluke and Seabass. Don't miss the action. Call 732-323-8700 and reserve your day.

06/02/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Joe Sensale charter was on board the Bounty Hunter today and Capt. Paul headed to the south for some Seabass fishing. Paul put the charter on 4 pieces and despite the cool water temps they put together a decent catch of 70 Seabass up to 3 1/2 lbs. along with a handful of Ling. We will be on a Seabass schedule for the next few days but Wednesday's threat of 15 to 20 knot south winds with gusts to 30 will again drop the water temp and slow down the Seabass bite.

06/01/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Jack Baliant charter toughed it out on the Bounty Hunter Sunday as Capt. Paul persued the elusive Striped Bass. Heading north in the AM we had nothing but 48 degree water from Pt. Pleasant to Long Branch. Then we hit a break and the temperature jumped to 55 degrees. We drifted fresh Bunker chunks and managed to land 2 Striped Bass, the largest a 39" fish. That was it for the day as Chunking and some afternoon Trolling never produced a touch. It's going to be tough fishing until the water temp. rises. I think I will give the Stripers a break and go Seabass fishing for the next few days.

05/30/08
Captain Paul reports:
It was a very slow day for the Bob Garrett charter. Capt. Paul looked for Bunker that could be Jigged from Mantoloking up to the Shrewsbury Rocks. It was a futile search. We anchored up in 50 Ft. and tried Chunking with fresh Bunker and all we could get was an endless Bluefish bite. We seen a couple of Bass trolled in the area by other boats but for us it was one Bluefish after another.

05/29/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Bill Haines charter got in a good day of Seabass fishing on Thursday. Capt. Paul worked his way down to the south in the AM hoping to see some Bunker and Striper activity. With no success, we then decided to run offshore and do some Seabass fishing. Paul put the Bounty Hunter on 3 wrecks in 70 Ft. and the charter picked away at Seabass up to 3 1/2 lbs. At days end we had over 70 nice Seabass in the fish box.

05/25/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Ed Stanchi charter had it both ways today as Capt. Paul put the Bounty Hunter on the Bass in the morning off Long Branch where we Trolled 3 Bass up to 38" on Spoons then he ran down to Mantoloking to Snag some live Bunker and put the charter on the big Bass Livelining where another 7 large Stripers up to 42" were added to the catch. We finished the day with a 4 man limit plus 2 Bonus fish. The weather was beautiful and the fishing was great. I still have a few days left open in June for Stripers or Seabass. Call 732-323-8700 and reserve your day.

05/23/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Keith Toboada charter got in on some of the hottest Seabass fishing of the season as Capt. Paul anchored the Bounty Hunter on 3 small snags and the charter picked away at Jumbo Seabass up to 4 1/2 lbs. There were very few short fish and the Dogfish did not pose a major problem. When the Dogs found us we just pulled the 2 anchors and moved on to the next drop. At the end of the day we had just over 100 large Seabass in our fish box and over 1/2 dozen large Ling. I still have 4 days open the last week of June. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day and get in on some of this great Seabass fishing.

05/22/08
Captain Paul reports:
After yesterday's slow Bass fishing up to the north, Capt. Paul decided to run south to the area off Island Beach. Reports of Stripers being taken in that area prompted the change in direction. We had bait readings from Seaside Park south but after Trolling Spoons and Shad rigs for a few hours we never had a bite. We decided to give up on the Stripers and run offshore to do some Seabass fishing. After 2 stops on local wrecks the charter had over 40 Seabass and Ling in the box then the rain and wind arrived to put an end to the day.

05/21/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Jack Morris charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and we headed north in search of the scarce Striped Bass. We could not find any fish readings or working birds From Pt. Pleasant up to the Shrewsbury Rocks. We put out the trolling rigs and worked the Rocks for most of the day. The charter had a steady pick on the Bluefish but there was no concentration of Bass. At the end of the day all we had were 3 keeper Bass up to 34".

05/20/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Dave Smith charter on board the Bounty Hunter and worked his way north. We had good bait readings all the way up the beach but did not find bird action until we reached Long Branch. Jigging the reads for most of the day the charter had non stop Bluefish action and also landed 2 nice Stripers the largest came in at 40" and weighed 21 lbs. A short break to go up on the Troll only produced more Bluefish .

05/19/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Pat Kester charter on board the Bounty Hunter and headed north. Stopping off Sandy Hook 2 hours of breaking clams produced only Skates & Blues. A call that some Bass were being Jigged and Trolled to the south prompted a move and we spent the rest of the day Jigging off Asbury. We had all the Blues one would want but only managed to jig one 39" Bass. The 35 knot NW wind did not help as conditions were uncomfortable for most of the day. I still have 4 days available for charter the last week of June. I will be sailing for Stripers, Seabass and Fluke. Take your choice and call today. 732-323-8700

05/18/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Abe Coban charter was on board the Bounty Hunter and Capt. Paul made his way up to Sandy Hook. To our surprise there was a total lack of Bass readings so we set up in 25 Ft. and cracked Clams for 3 hours. All we had to show for the effort was 2 keeper Bass the largest measuring 33" and 5 shorts. Deciding to Troll and Jig for Bass on the edge of the offshore channel only produced Bluefish.

05/17/08
Captain Paul reports:
Werner & Wolfgang Sprie returned to the Bounty Hunter for their weekly charter and after a brief meeting with Capt. Paul all decided that Seabass fishing was the way to go instead of fighting the Striper crowd up north. Paul set up on 3 of his favorite snags and the charter proceeded to box a 3 man limit of 75 Seabass up to 4 1/2 lbs. The ocean had a little roll in it this AM but by mid morning the wind flopped and it turned out to be quite a nice day.

05/16/08
Captain Paul reports:
The weather was horrible but the fishing was great. The Chris Cameroni charter was on board the Bounty Hunter for the best day of Striper fishing we've had this Spring. We got on the fish early and the bite was non stop for 2 1/2 hours. The charter put a limit catch of 12 Bass up to 40" in the box then went on to fill all their bonus tags. Along with the catch over a dozen short Bass were released.

05/15/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Mark Lukenda charter was on board the Bounty Hunter for a day of Seabass fishing. Capt. Paul set up on 3 small pieces and the charter proceeded to box 91 Seabass up to 4 lbs. The nice catch was made despite the tough anchoring conditions caused by a total lack of wind and current.

05/14/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Brian McFadden charter on board the Bounty Hunter and ran up to Sandy Hook. Although many of the boats caught their limit of Bass today it was a slow day for us. We just could not get the Bass going on clam baits and only managed to box 4 keepers up to 32" along with 6 shorts.

05/10/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had Werner & Wolfgang Sprie on board the Bounty Hunter for what started out to be another Striped Bass charter. The previous days rain had turned the ocean water brown and we suspected that Bass fishing might be slow so we switched over to "Plan B". We turned to the east and headed several miles offshore to do some wreckfishing for Seabass. All went well as 2 drops on rough bottom produced a 3 man limit catch of 75 Seabass up to 4 lbs. Along with 1 Cod. Over a dozen Blackfish along with a half dozen large Porgies were also boated and all were released. I still have a few open days for Seabass or Stripers in June, if interested call 732-323-8700. The days will not last long.

05/8/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Ryan Neiber charter joined Capt. Paul on board the Bounty Hunter today. Setting up in 20 ft. at Sandy Hook the Bass were more cooperative today compared to yesterday. We fished the incomming tide and the charter put 9 Bass up to 33" in the fish box and released another half dozen shorts along with a few Bluefish. On the ride home a brief stop on heavy bird play off Asbury Park added another dozen Alligator Blues to the days tally. All the Blues were Jigged on Ava's and all were released.

05/7/08
Captain Paul reports:
You could almost see it comming. The steady decline in the number of Stripers over the last 3 days. Blame the new moon, the calm weather or the boat traffic, whatever but the Bass fishing has slowed over the past few days. Today was the worst we've seen as the Bob McColgan charter only boated 3 keeper Bass up to 31" while clamming despite a maximum effort. Two hours of trolling Spoons on the Rocks and off Asbury Park only added 3 Bluefish to the catch. Hopefully the rougher weather predicted for the next few days will improve the situation. Check out the Fluke Special on our web site right hear on NauticalNet

05/6/08
Captain Paul reports:
It was another good day on the Bounty Hunter as the Phil D'Amore charter joined Capt. Paul for some good Striper fishing. Capt. Paul made his way up to Sandy Hook and set up in 25 Ft. We had the Bass on within minutes and the bite lasted for 2 hours. Then it died completely. We did not have any bites thru the tide change and only 1 Bass was boated on the outgoing tide. As slow as the bite was the charter managed to put a limit catch of 12 Bass up to 38", while releasing several shorts along with a handful of Blues.

05/4/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Sprie brothers Werner and Wolfgang returned for their first charter of the year on the Bounty Hunter. Capt. Paul wasted no time returning to the same area where we had a good bite on Saturday. Anchoring in 25 Ft. we were into the Bass as soon as the first clam bait hit bottom. The 2 man charter had a steady pick of Bass up to 35" throughout the entire outgong tide while landing 44 Bass of which 29 were over 28" and 15 were short. In addition to the Bass over 2 dozen Blues were landed. As is always the case with the Sprie's all the Bass and Blues were released. Stripers are comming on strong! I still have a few choice dates available. Call 732-323-8700 to get in on the great fishing.

05/2/08
Captain Paul reports:
The Greg Lewis charter was on board the Bounty Hunter today and Capt. Paul ran north to Sandy Hook. We made 2 stops today. After an hour we had nothing to show for our effort on the first drop. On our second stop we anchored in 25 ft. and had our first Bass within 10 minutes. The bite improved and the charter went on to box 10 keeper Bass up to 33" along with 2 Bonus fish. Another 6 short Bass were released. All the bites came on the outgoing tide. June 12, 16, & 27 are still available for charter. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

04/25/08
Captain Paul reports:
Capt. Paul had the Mick Pirolli charter on the Bounty Hunter for the first trip of the 2008 season. Running up to the north we did not see our first bait read until we were north of Long Branch. We put out a couple of rigs and had our first Blue within minutes in 40 ft. of water. The bite improved up on the Rocks and we had steady action. The charter boxed 3 dozen Blues up to 10 lbs. along with 6 Stripers, 3 shorts and 3 keepers. Tubes and Shads did most of the catching. On the way home off Asbury a few Blues were added using Ava's. Want to get in on the Striper action? May 4,5 & 6 are still available. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your day.

06/15/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
Fishing the flats today was outstanding. The first cast produced a blue with an arial display and it was none stop action after that. All fish were caught on surface plugs and all but a few fish for dinner were released to fight another day.

06/12/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
Today we fished east of Barnegat Inlet on some wreck and had good to very good action with sea bass, blackfish and porgys.A good catch of sea bass was put together and the action with some huge porgy and blackfish all the later being released. The weather was perfect and it was a great day to be on the water.

05/07/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
I started back at the power plant entrance where I caught some fish yeterday.Today was a different story as I worked the area pretty good but caught nothing.I moved out by the BI in the deeper water but could only catch some blues on the troll.Fishing the flats was a privilage in the crystal clear water but I did not find the fish in my usual spots.Still, a great day on the water.

05/06/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
I fished the bay today looking for anything that would bite. Fishing over by the power plant produced blues to 5lbs with a few bass swirling after the surface poppers but no takers. The flats produced only a few blues.I will try again tomorrow and look for some weakfish in the AM.

04/19/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
Today we fished South of Barnegat Inlet on the wreck fishing grounds looking for some larger fish. The conditions were perfect and the bite was slow but very consistant thoughout the day.Limit catches were made by all anglers on board with the largest fish topping out at 12lbs and a few other fish at 6 to 8 lbs.I have no problem with taking only four fish per angler during the spring season but I do feel we will be getting the Royal shaft when the season closes next week. I have always maintained the standard of releasing all female blackfish with eggs and I now have a hard time seeing how this has helped the fishing industry as my trips for the next month are at about half what they were last year.

04/13/08
Captain Kevin Delanoy reports:
We've been concentrating our efforts on flounder this past week, and the little flatfish have not disappointed. Splitting our time between the Shrewsbury & Navesink rivers and Raritan Bay, catches have ranged from decent to excellent. On Saturday afternoon, the Pat Mchale party from Howell had a hot bite in the bay for the last 2 hours of their trip, putting 32 flounder to 17 inches in the box. On Sunday morning, the Aaron Hopmayer party from Orange county, NY, put 34 keepers to 18 inches in the cooler before the bite died out near the tide change. Sandworms and mussels worked equally well.

06/07/08
Captain Bernie Roth Reports:
Hosted the Frankie Trivigno charter from Brick NJ for a combination Striper/Fluke trip. Snagged some bunker off Belmar and tried livelining and chunking at the Shrewsbury Rocks with three Bluefish bite offs for our efforts. The charter dropped some bottom rigs down and caught some nice Sea Bass when we were at anchor. Moved to the Red Church area drifting for Fluke and the charter caught four shorts and one 20" keeper.

06/03/08
Captain Bernie Roth Reports:
Hosted the James Orcinni charter from Montclair NJ for a half day of Fluke fishing. Due to the cold water we decided to fish for Sea Bass instead of fluke on the Sea Girt reef. The first drop produced only shorts. The second drop provided constant action and the charter had fillets for dinner and the freezer to 3 lbs.

Just One More Sportfishing

Hello to all my fellow fishermen out there. The "Just One More" has been catching large stripers ! The last two trips have been open boat trips. Tuesday we had aboard, Bob Steirs and his son, Keith Reardon, Jerry and friends. Running the boat that morning, I happened to look down and was watching a school of striped bass swim away from the boat ! They were 20 lb. fish and bigger. We worked a large school of bunker that were down deep and a large mass of striped bass under them. We had 4 bass on at a time 3-4 times that morning. When that died down, we went a little further for some anchored up chunking and only landed one nice bass. So we moved again and this time found the bunker on top. We worked the school with live snagged bunker and baits on the bottom. It was a good day fishing with striped bass caught up to 25 lbs. We lost many more that were hooked up. One even straightened out a snap after a short battle !! Wednesday we had aboard, Jack Mohan, Marion and her husband, and Mike and Amanda. I could not find the bunker we had the previous morning, but went to a productive spot and anchored up. We never had to leave!! Marion caught the first of the day with a striper at 30 lbs. That was her first striper ever! Not a bad start. Jack landed a couple and decided he wanted to release his to fight another day. Then Amanda landed her first striped bass ever at around 32". The women always out fish the men. Congratulations girls !! We limited out with bass up to the 30 lbr. with more released and more fish missed. Not a single bluefish ! Some really good striper fishing. Next dates that are open to charter are : July 4, 7, 8, 10, 11. Next weekend date open is Sunday, July 20. I think these big stripers will remain around well into July. Who wants to go??

It's the hight of the spring season with plenty of fish to catch. Striped bass, bluefish and fluke. Striped bass and bluefish have been down the beach while the fluke are in their regular spots in the bay. The fluke action is steady with keepers and a lot of throw backs. Matt recently landed a beautiful 5 lb. fluke. We have been throwing back many fish just under the limit at 17" and 17.5". That hurts ! We have also been chasing the stripers on the N.Y. side of the bay and ocean and chasing the birds wherever we find them to catch bluefish and some bass underneath. We are now using fresh dead bunker for bait. The bass love them ! Upcoming dates to charter are June 26, 27. July 4, 7, 8, 10, 11. With the late season, the stripers will still be around for a while. OPEN BOAT TRIP THIS WEDNESDAY. We still need one angler to fill out Wednesday, the 25th. Please call: 908-472-2684 THANKYOU, CAPT. RICH NEWALLIS JR. 'JUST ONE MORE" SPORTFISHING

Due to an overwhelming response to the last OPEN BOAT DATE, the next one will be on June 25, Wednesday. First call first served 908-472-2684. Also, due to some unseen economic problems, we just had some late cancellations. The NEXT THREE FRIDAYS are open to charter. June 13, 20, 27. Prime time for big stripers. Please call as I will not be home on the computer. 908-472-2684

WOW ! It is June already ! Time flies when you are catching stripers. The bigger stripers are definately on the move in. This week, the Don Moser charter from Pa. had a full limit of stripers to 40". Plenty of bluefish released as well as other bass. You can see a picture of Don below with his great catch. Also this week we had the Nicky DiSarro charter out for non stop bass action and a full limit. We had 3 stripers on at times!! Flat calm water with stripers up to 36" and plenty of slammer bluefish as well. Some of those were over 10 lbs. ! The water temp. is slowly creeping up at 60.5. degrees. THE NEXT OPEN BOAT TRIP IS JUNE 24, TUESDAY. SINGLE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. CALL TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT. 908-472-2684. DON'T FORGET THE JULY FLUKE SPECIAL. 7AM- 1PM. UP TO FOUR ANGLERS. EVERYTHING INCLUDED AS ALWAYS FOR $400.00. THERE WILL BE A MINIMUM OF KILLIES, SPEARING, AND SQUID ON BOARD FOR BAIT AND MAYBE SOME SURPRIZE BAITS AS WELL. THIS WAS A GREAT SUCCESS LAST YEAR WITH PLENTY OF FISH CAUGHT AND FLUKE UP TO 7 LBS. June 25, and 26 are open to charter, that's it !

The BIG BASS are in ! On may 20, the Jeff Grabiac charter had a full limit of striped bass to 38'. All nice big fat ones. We started off the day casting to breaking bluefish in the bay for constant action. We landed and released 40 blues. On the 21st. the Bobby and Pete Daly charter had a full limit of striped bass also up to 38'. plenty of bluefish as well. On the 22nd. the Frank Blanch charter had 50 bluefish caught casting. They were hitting metals of any kind and Frank was having a ball with the top water plugs. He kept trying to see how many bluefish he could pull the plug away from ! Great strikes. On Friday, the Bill Stephens charter from New Century Transportation had a great day with the bluefish again, casting to them. But only had a pick of bass. Saturday, Bluefish Bob Donahue was out with a great day on the big stripers. He had a full limit of stripers to 40" and 20 lbs. Again, plenty of bluefish were caught in the morning casting to the birds. On Sunday, the Frank Mimichetti charter had a really good day catching stripers. A full limit was landed with others released. Frank not only caught the largest striped bass of his life, but also the largest fish of his life!! It was a beauty at 30 lbs. !!! Monday saw another limit of striped bass for the Don Moser charter. Another full limit was caught and more released. Don had the largest of the day at 40". Soooo........... the big bass are in. Time to go !! The water temperature has only been in the mid to high 50's. We will be catching these fish thru June and into July. Open dates in June are 24, 25, 26. July 1, 2, 4, 6, 7-11. We could even do a striper and fluke combo. Hope to see you soon ! THANKYOU.

The striped bass run is in full swing! On monday, the Keith Reardon, Mick and Marty Golabek charter limited out with striped bass to 31". Shorts were released and the bluefish were everywhere. On Tuesday, the Scott Lavenberg charter had another limit of striped bass up to a high of 36". They are getting bigger. Also, plenty of bluefish were landed as well. On wednesday, we had aboard the Steve Shoemaker charter from PA. We started out with plenty of bluefish. Made a move, more bluefish and then we finally got the bass going , but when the strong south wind came up, the bite stopped, even with the blues! They landed bass to 33". I had a high of 63.2 degrees water temp. on some of those warm days. And the water must be warming up as there are spots in the bay with algea blooms. Fishing will only pick up now on the down side of the moon, and after this storm. Afternoon / evening trips are available for the months of May and June. Dates left to charter are winding down. Nothing in May for a day trip. Day trips available in June are: 17, 18, 24, 25, 26 THAT'S IT ! ******** July, 1, 2, 4, 6. Striper and fluke combo anyone ??

4/28/08
Hello to all my fellow fishing friends out there. There has been a variety of different species caught aboard the "Just One More" lately. Last Tuesday we had aboard the Tom Smith charter and stripers were landed on clams up to 31". Wednesday we had aboard the Scott Lavenberg charter and we had striped bass and bluefish. The bluefish seem to be everywhere in the bay. On Thursday, the Dave Taub charter had, what I think is the last gasp of winter flounder, and a mix of bluefish. Friday, the Bob Abel charter had a "Sandy Hook Spring Grand Slam". They landed striped bass, bluefish, and winter flounder ! With the water temps. up over 50 degrees and all the bluefish in the bay, the winter flounder will make a hasty retreat. With some more nice weather predicted for the end of this week, the striped bass fishing should break wide open. Dates left to charter are: April 30. June 5, 16, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26. With the striped bass season starting late this year, those June dates should really be super fishing. The next OPEN BOAT DATE, not filled is June 4. Come fishing by yourself or with a family member or friend. 7 am to 2 pm. Everything included as usual. $100.00 per head. This is a great way to get out by yourself and fish if you can't find enough people to charter the whole boat. And always, lot's of laughs !!!! THANKYOU, CAPT. RICH NEWALLIS JR. 'JUST ONE MORE' SPORTFISHING 908-472-2684 www.just1morecharters.com

4/21/08
The bass are here! An open boat trip on Thursday with: Dave, Jim, Jim, John, Bob, and Nick produced stripers to 30". The water temp. was about 51 degrees and probably colder on the bottom. The fishing was a little slow, but with all this nice weather, it will be big numbers of bass again real soon. Friday, we had out the nearly famous, "Flounder Bob Abel" charter. Flounder were landed to 15.5" and it was a beautiful day, except for the skates, they are everywhere. We fished a couple of spots around the Pier and went out to Romer Shoal Light. The flounder will be stacking up shortly to leave and the fishing will only get better. This Sunday, the 27th. is still open to charter if you would like to book a striper or flounder trip. June charter dates are: 5, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, Sunday the 29th. UPCOMING OPEN BOAT TRIPS: April 28, Monday.....May 13, Tuesday.....June 4, Wednesday. Come fishing by yourself or bring a friend or relative. These are fun trips with everyone having a good time, making new friends and future fishing buddies as well ! Lots of laughs!! It won't be long now !! I have had multiple reports from various sources that there are bunker near Keansburg and up the Shrewsbury River. That means the stripers won't be far behind. I even had reports of stripers being caught back in the shallow water we fish in April. The "Just One More" will be back in the water on April 1, [ no joke], either a few days before or a couple of days after. It depends on when the weather is warm enough for me to wax the hull. I can't wait to be in the new slip. "B" dock, slip "8". A lot shorter walk. For the spring flounder run, I just picked up some new "Gulp" bloodworms. I can't wait to try these as they say they are better than natural bait. We'll see if it beats out a big, smelly, and bloody sandworm! We'll put them thru the test. April dates are filling fast with only a couple remaining. Winter flounder, striped bass, or a combo of both would make a nice trip. Open dates in April are: 7- 13, 15, 16, 17, 23. Open dates in May are: 6, 13, 22, 27. That's it! Don't wait to book for long. Open dates in June are: 3, 4, 5, 12, 15 [Father's Day], 16-19. Thankyou, Capt. Hello to all my fellow fishing friends out there. I would like to apologize for the long time in between reports. It has been a very tough February for me and my family as my mother was very sick and passed away about a week ago. She started getting sick in October and in Decenber I pulled the boat out of the water early to be with her around the clock. So basically since then, I have neglected my busisness and I apologize for that. BUT.....I am looking forward to brighter and sunnier days with you on the water soon !! I must plow ahead and keep busy. Some things have changed. I no longer have my home phone number for you to call. The only number to call now to book a charter is 908-472-2684. That is my cell / boat number. In just over a very short month, "The Just One More' will be back in the water. Dates for stripers in the spring have been going fast lately, and are booking up on basically a daily basis. So if you want a charter for this spring striper season, you really should book soon. Full day, open dates in May are: 5, 6, 7. 8. 13, 22, 27, 28. June :3, 4, 5, 15, 16-19, 22, 23-26, 28, 29. There are even some highly desired weekend dates in there!! Check out my web site as there have been a few additions. For one is a report section, I'm sure you all would like to read. I will try and keep this updated with the latest fishing news and especially our trips. www.just1morecharters.com Thankyou, Capt Rich Newallis Jr. "Just One More" Sportfishing

Happy New Year to all my fishing friends out there. I hope you had a very happy Holiday season. Time is flying by and I am already working on the "Just One More" and all the tackle, getting it ready for the spring. It won't be long, just a couple of months and we'll be back in the water. Last April saw some of the best winter flounder fishing in some time. Trips were landing up to 35 flounder in the bay and the fish were big and fat. Many were 17" - 18". So you might like to try for them this spring and get rid of your cabin fever early. Towards the end of April, we were doing COMBO TRIPS with winter flounder early in the day and then heading to another spot to catch striped bass. Maybe the combo trip would get rid of your cabin fever?? Striped bass fishing dates in May are going fast with many trips booked last May, a year early. I would not wait too long to make your reservation. Open days in May are: 1, 4, 5-8, 13, 22, 25, 26-28. There are a couple of Sunday dates in there and the rest book extremely fast as we get closer to the spring. Hope to hear from you soon!!! 908-412-9147

MARYLOU CREW Sportfishing

6/14/08
Capt. Darren reports:
The Crew of the Mary Lou was out for the Brett Bailey mako rodeo. With great conditions we set up and had two blue sharks early. At around 10:30 the middle rod went off and the game was on. Half hour battle and we landed a 217 pound mako. Decided to head in early. The fish was not the largest, as this year the tournament had a 402 pound and 301 pounder hit the scales. Congrats to the winner and thanks to Art Dellasalla for running such a top notch tournament for a great cause!!! We will be back out this weekend for the other two shark tournaments.

6/10/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had our first shark trip of the season with a group from Lancaster PA. We stopped at the Star first thing in the morning and had nothing going. I did not like the water so we made a 6 mile move further SE. The water was a little warmer and cleaner. Finally had the lines go. First shark was about 100lb blue. Hour later we had our second shark on this one was bigger around 200lb blue. Not bad for the first trip, the best part was no Dogfish at all. Will be out this weekend for the Brett Bailey.

6/01/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had the crew from Pats Tavern on today for a half day trip. We finally settled in on a spot in the bay and had only two stripers and all the blue fish you wanted. The largest Bass was 23lbs and the other went 16lbs. It has been a tuff go for the bass the last few weeks. I hope the fishing turns on.

5/31/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Was out today with Seth Goudie and friends charter for this years allusive Striper. Had a lot of birds in the morning and Bass mixed in, the only trick was trying to get threw the blue fish. We had a ton of blues and 3 stripers. The fish all were caught on plugs on the service. Came in a little early due to the storms in the area.

5/27/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Was back out for another try at the Stripers, but again the fishing just plain stinks up North right now. We fished everywhere from the bay to the rocks. Only found blue fish. Had one shot at fish near the rocks but they would not eat AGAIN. Have had enough for a few days, things need to change.

5/25/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had Tom Conney charter on board but what a change from the day before. Today we went right back to where we killed the day before, but could only get one to 18 pounder to bite. We could see them on the bottom but we could not get through the blue fish. They were so thick we had one on before we could get the lines all out.

5/24/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had the George Gibson group out for the best day of the season on the stripers. There crew caught one shy of there limit and dropped twice as many. All fish were between 15 and 25lbs. Great day!

5/23/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Today Capt. Darren took the day to fish with his father Jeff and 7 year old son Tyler. Well conditions were not that great for the crew on board and we made a quick drop on one spot and caught a nice 20lb Striper and then the little guy on board had enough of the rock and rolling and we called it a day after only 45 minutes of fishing.

5/22/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had a group of guys from Cedar Grove P.D. onboard for another shot at Stripers. Today we caught a few nice fish on the troll. We also had some blue fish mixed in. The largest fish of the day was 20lbs. Not bad considering the way bass fishing has been.

5/21/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had the boys from Eastern Concrete out again, but this trip was not one of there better ones. We had blues blues and more blues but no Striper. Not sure where they are hiding but we have to keep going till we get it right.

5/18/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Back out for the last day of three in a row with A&C Kitchen and Bath. Today was worse then the day before. We tried several drops but the fish would not eat. Made one last move and went on the troll and found the fish but only managed to get one big one to bite. The fish went 22lbs and kind of eased the pain. Had three days of fishing with really good guys. Thanks to Nick on the Benchmark for setting this up.

5/17/08
Capt. Darren reports:
The Mary Lou was out with the group from A&C Kitchen and Baths for a second day of Striped Bass fishing. Today was not are day as we fished the same area as the day before but never could get the fish going. Other boats around had some fish and were fishing right next to us. Back out again in the morning with another group from A&C. We ended the day with only 3 keepers and a few blues.

5/16/08
Capt. Darren reports:
The Mary Lou was out with the group from A&C Kitchen and Baths for some Striped Bass fishing. Made one drop of the hook and picked away for the 6 hour trip. At the end we had 7 keepers and released a few shorts. Had a few blue fish but nothing out of control.

5/14/08
Capt. Darren reports:
The Mary Lou Crew now has an opening on Friday May 23rd. The stripe bass fishing is getting better every day, so give us a call to take advantage of this open date during prime striper fishing 973-809-9736 or www.maryloucrew.com

Capt. Darren reports:
The Mary Lou Crew just had a Saturday May 24th become available. It will not last and anyone interested reach out for us. 973-809-9736 or www.maryloucrew.com

5/04/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had Mike Gates from Rockaway NJ back out with his boss Mitch, his regular and friends. This trip the weather man cooperated and despite morning thick fog the group had a great day of Striper fishing. They had there limit and added three bonus fish and a few bluefish. They also released several shorts and we lost another four nice stripers! Great weather and a great bunch of guys.

5/03/08
Capt. Darren reports:
We were back out again this time with only three onboard. The weather was nasty with an East wind around 20 knots. The Jeff charter from PA stuck it our and ended with 4 keepers, which turned out to be a real good catch from the talk around the dock and on the radio. They also had several bluefish to add to the cooler.

5/02/08
Capt. Darren reports:
Had our first trip of the year with Mike Gates and party from Rockaway, NJ. The day started out slow with only two fish in the box. But during the change of tide and a short move we managed to put a nice catch together in less then ideal conditions. At the end of the day we had nine stripers in the box and a number of bluefish.

The Mary Lou Crew is back in the water. We will be docked at Sandy Hook Bay Marina for the month of May and then moving to Hoffmans Marina in Brielle from June to November. Give us a call to get in on the hot striper fishing this season at 973-809-9736 or visit the website at www.maryloucrew.com

Fintastic Charters

6/21-22/08
Capt. Tom reports:
The Fintastic Crew of Captain’s Tom Kelly, Bruno Giuliari and Richie Andrews had the Eddie Hibbert charter on board for the two days of the Mako Mania Shark Tournament. Saturday: On Saturday we fished in the east side of the Triple Wrecks. We had no idea what was in store for us. We started our drift in 220’ of water and 69◦ water temp with good bait readings and closest boat was 3 miles away. At 10:30 am a huge splash occurred at the 30’ balloon. We only saw a massive shark tail disappear into the water. Richie at that point takes the pitch bait and feeds it back into the slick. He is instantly hooked up on a Penn 50SW with 21# of drag and 80# mono, the shark dumped nearly half the spool before we cleared the lines and began backing down on this monster. The rod was past to every charter member multiple times including the crew. This fish would just not come up. After two hours of pulling, backing down and spinning on this fish it finally came up. We grabbed the leader and couldn’t budge the fish any closer to the boat before it made another run. We had this fish up about nine times and could not get a good look at it. The size of this fish was unbelievable it had to weigh well over 1,000#. About 3pm we decided to try something else to break the stalemate. We realized that if this was a mako we wouldn’t have enough time to boat the fish and make the tournament’s 7pm weigh in, at this point we were 62 miles from Pt Pleasant, so forget the tournament rules. The plan was to swap the fish to a larger rod and reel. We had a Penn 70vs rigged with 200# spectra and 130# mono top shot which we attached a snap swivel to. The next time we were able to grab the leader we attached the snap swivel to the leader and cut the Penn 50 free from the fish. At this point we were able to apply 33# of drag to the fish and fight the fish from a swivel rod holder, similar to how we fish for giants in NC. The battle lasted for another 2 ½ hours we put as much pressure as we could and finally at 5:30 pm the line parted and that was it. The battle lasted for 7 hours; we end up over six miles from original location and pulled into our slip at 9:30pm. We couldn’t be a 100 % on the identification of this shark but the tail shape leads us to believe it was either a Great White or a monster mako. We could never get good look at its head, it was always angled down. Sunday: On Sunday we fished the Northeast end of the Glory Hole. We setup in 200’ of crystal blue 69◦ water. There were whales on the surface and solid bait readings at 100’. At 9:30 the 30’ rod goes off and were hooked up to a 90 - 100# Mako, which was released after a short fight. We caught 2 additional Mako’s which were under the tournaments’ qualifying size of 66”. The weather was a little sporty by noon but by 4pm the wind dropped out and we had good ride home. In the 2 days of Mako Mania we fought a monster shark for 7 hours and caught 3 Mako’s not a bad weekend, if this sounds like fun, call us for dates and availability. Capt. Tom www.fintasticcharters.com

6/15/08
Capt. Tom reports:
Captains Tom Kelly and Richie Andrews gave the Bob Ott charter from Pt Pleasant, NJ a Father’s Day trip to remember, on the FINTASTIC. They started the morning snagging bunker outside of Manasquan inlet after filling the live well, they made their way north. An hour went by before they caught their first fish and then another as the sun rose the bass really turned on. The 12 person charter at one point had 8 fish on at once. The bass hit live bunker, heads, tails you name it. They landed over 25 bass and kept 17 for the table. Two fish weighed in at Clarks Landing came in at 38 and 44½ # the largest this year on the Fintastic.

6/14/08
Capt. Tom reports:
Captains Bruno Giuliari and Tom Kelly had the Matt Detlet charter on the FINTASTIC for the Brett Bailey Mako Rodeo. We setup 55 miles to the southeast of Manasquan in clean 69 degree water, good bait readings, good drift and only 3 other boats in the area. With the table set we had high hopes for Mr. Mako, but we proceeded to catch and release 8 big blue sharks and a few bluefish which kept Matt and his friends quite busy. We’ll try again this weekend we’ll be fishing both days of Mako Mania. __________________ Captain Tom & The Fintastic Crew http://www.fintasticcharters.com (732)614-4181

6/12/08
Capt. Tom reports:
Captains Tom Kelly and Tom Savastano had the Stan Olszak charter on the FINTASTIC for and afternoon striper trip. Before heading back to Manasquan from the Highlands Captain Kelly threw his net and loaded the live well with bunker. We worked our way down to Asbury where the fish finder lit up with readings. We put her on the drift and had non stop action with Stripers from 18 to 30#. Stan an avid surf fisherman couldn’t believe this type of fishing.

6/11/08
Capt. Tom reports:
Captains Tom Kelly and Joe Patsco took the Marty Aberelle charter on the Fintastic for a late afternoon bass trip. Anchoring in 25' of water the trip started with a good blue fish bite and as the sun went down the bass really turned on. They end up chunking over 30 bass ranging from 20 - 27 # with the largest fish weighing 33#. They kept 18 bass table and released the rest to fight another day. The Fintastic is moving from the Highlands to Point Pleasant today and has some open date availble. We will be sailing from Clarks Landing Marina in Point Pleasant until December and then off to Morehead City, NC. This weekend we will be fishing the Bret Bailey Mako Redeo shark tournament and then back to Bass fishing on Sunday. __________________ Captain Tom & The Fintastic Crew http://www.fintasticcharters.com (732)614-4181

FUN TYME CHARTERS

Canyon Runner Sport Fishing

06/23-26/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Canyon Runner June Canyon Fishing Summary – 191 Yellowfin in 10 Trips -Hopefully the nice fishing holds up!!! We were busy fishing Monday thru Thursday last week plus getting the new Ritchie Howell tuned in so I’ve neglected the reports but here they all are – the good and the bad – luckily there weren’t really any bad ones. 48' Canyon Runner – June 23-24 21 Yellowfin (20 between 40 and 80 pounds) Capts. Phil Dulanie and DeCabia got back to the dock with the 48' Canyon Runner on Monday/Tuesday and were once again loaded with yellowfin. The Alan Hartman charter took off from Pt. Pleasant Monday morning and got on the troll in the Spencer around 2pm. By 6pm they had not had a touch. Capt. DeBlasio on the 60' Ritchie was on the phone with a boat in the Wilmington who had a handful of nicer yellowfin so they both picked up and ran 12 miles down the bank to the Wilmington. As soon as they got there Phil had 3 shots of nicer fish and put 8 in the boat before dark. The action was on all on Canyon Runner rainbow squid bars and tuna clones. The night saw a 700# tiger fought to the boat and released. In the morning they quickly got back into fish and pulled another 7 nice ones out of there and released 5 more 30-40 pounders and 1 short. In total they had 21 yellowfin with 20 from 40-85 pounds and 12 of them all right around 70-80. 48’ Canyon Runner – June 25 (16 Yellowfin with all of them 35-70 pounds) Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Peter Doran took out the Jim Kelly charter on the 48 Canyon Runner on Wednesday for a day troll and we decided to leave the Wilmington Canyon aside for now as 105 mile runs are not in the cards if we think we can catch closer - and boy were we right. They started trolling 5 miles inside the tip of the Toms Canyon to begin our search in new territory and then they worked down the edge to the south Toms reaching it by 9am where they had their first couple shots at fish putting 6 in the boat. They worked that area for awhile with the 60' Ritchie and did not get another bite so they moved back north and got a few more bites on the east side ending up with 14 in the boat. At 2pm they headed towards home and picked two more fish at the tip finishing up the trip with 16 yellowfin and all over 35 pounds. These fish are unbelievably big fish. It looked like a late fall chunking trip when we lined them up on the dock. 14 of the 16 tuna were 45-70 pounds and the small ones were 35 pounds and were released. The Canyon Runner spreader bars ruled the day today as Capt. Mark ran 5 of them and almost all the bites were on the bars. Our Canyon Runner squid spreader bars and mini-green machines bars performed the best. 60’ Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner – June 25 (6 Yellowfin 30-50 pounds) Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeCabia got their first shot on the new 60 Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner with the Pat Cuozzo and Jay Garvey charter on Wednesday. With a one day troll scheduled we decided to keep her a little closer to the inlet today and ran up to the Toms Canyon based on what we have been seeing going on with that eddy just offshore. Capt. Phil was going to work offshore the edge and Capt. Mark on the 48 Canyon Runner was going to work the bank. The bank held the fish and by the time they got back in on it the first bite of the day was over. They got their first yellowfin at noon and it was not until 3:15 when they decided to give it 5 more minutes that their luck changed. At 3:18 they got covered up and bailed out with 5 more yellowfin and 6 total for the day - all the yellowfin were nice 30-50 pound fish. Canyon Runner Squid Bars, Sevenstrand Tuna Clones and ballyhoo caught the fish. 60' Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner - June 26 (10 Yellowfin – 50-60 pounds) Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeCabia took out the Carl Bloomfield charter on Thursday June 26 and ran right back to the Toms Canyon area. They set up on the troll at the tip and worked the east wall all day picking a few fish but not getting into any good bite. They were sitting on 3 fish right up until 2pm when they were covered up with 8 nice 40-70 pound yellowfin screaming drag. They ended up putting 7 in the boat to end the day with another double digit catch of big yellowfin. The caught most of the fish today on ballyhoo with moldcraft little hookers and ilander lures. Capt. Phil tried trolling a little faster today and that is when the 7 bagger came in – at an almost 8 knot troll. 48’ Canyon Runner – June 26 (4 Yellowfin) Capt. Mark DeBlasio was running the 48' Viking again on Thursday and took the 2nd half of the Carl Bloomfield charter out to the Toms Canyon. They worked hard all day trolling both walls, the tip the deep down to South Toms and back into the Toms Canyon proper with only 1 fish to show. Capt. Mark decided to stay late for this one day troll trip and at 4pm ended up with a few more bites putting 3 more yellowfin in the boat. The charter was thrilled with the extra effort and the 4 nice yellowfin and they headed home ahead of the bad weather forecast. Unfortunately we then sat at the dock canceling charter after charter from Friday thru Monday due to terrible forecasts that ended up being wrong. The one forecast that we should have listened to that was right was Capt. Len Belcaro’s at www.offshoresatelliteservices.com. It was dead on correct the entire weekend. Looks like with will start again on Tuesday or Wednesday and fish right thru the weekend with some luck. We will be getting a bunch of pictures up on line at www.canyonrunner.com and I will post here as well once they are up.

06/21-22/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Captain Phil Dulanie and Mark DeCabia had out the Dr. John Bednar charter Saturday to Sunday on the 48’ Canyon Runner and ran right to the Spencer canyon area Saturday morning and put her on the troll by 1pm. The fish started to turn on by 2pm and by night fall they had 14 tuna to the boat keeping 8 between 40-70 pounds and releasing the rest. The fish were taken on Canyon Runner Green Machine Bars and Squid Bars and Sevenstrand tuna clones. During the night bite they anchored up and put a 100 pound mako in the boat and released a second one that was around 130. Up on the troll in the morning they picked another 15 yellowfin putting 8 more good ones in the boat again all around 40-60 pounds releasing the rest ending up the trip with 31 yellowfin with 16 between 40-70 pounds. There are pics from the trip at www.canyonrunner.com!

06/21-22/08 Adam LaRosa reports: The crew of the Canyon Runner took out the new 60' Ritchie Howell for her madien voyage with the Paul Pedretti charter Saturday to Sunday (she arrived at 1am Friday morning). We started off the extended overnighter by competing in the two major shark tournaments running out of Manasquan this weekend. We set up at the triple wrecks and right on schedule (as predicted by Capt. DeBlasio) we had our mako bite - a small one but nice enough to put in the boat for the first fish to hit the deck of the Ritchie Howell. With one mako in the boat our day was over and we ran down south towards the Lindenchol/Spencer area and meet up with Capt. Phil on the 48' Canyon Runner and joined him in a nice pick of fish. From 5:30pm until 9pm we had 14 yellowfin but only got 4 nice ones out of the pick with those fish from 30-60 pounds. We set up a night for sharks and added a dusky. Up on the troll in the morning we pulled another 7 yellowfin with 2 more nice 65 pounders. The fish we eating close to the boat and favored Canyon Runner Green Machine bars and Sevenstrand tuna clones in 450 to 550 feet of 72 degree water. It took us sometime to find the sweat spot on the troll but the new boat but with over 30 bites and 21 tuna to the boat on her first trip I guess we are starting to figure her out. Both boats are fishing all week so will get more reports up here.

06/17/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Capt. Phil Dulanie took a couple of the Northstar engineers plus the editor of Boating Magazine out on the 48’ Viking today. The goal was to use state-of-the-art sounder equipment that Northstar is coming out with in the near future to take images of the German U-Boat sitting 50+ miles to the southeast of Manasquan. The trip will be well documented by the folks at Boating Magazine and we were happy to have them on board today. The technology is outstanding and I can’t wait to get it on our vessel. Really can’t say more than that at this time but keep an eye out for new sounder equipment from these guys. Today also marked the last time the 48’ will be going out the inlet for anything besides the canyon as its destination. Starting Thursday we will be running canyon trips everyday until November 1 starting with overnighters Thursday/Friday, Saturday/Sunday, Monday/Tuesday and then a few day trolls in a row before finishing up June with a couple more overnighters. As such, we hope to get a bunch of reports on line with hopefully a bunch of good info for you folks to work off of. That being said with the bass fishing so strong right now we’ve decided to start using our 32’ Regulator for bass trips at a significant reduced cost of our regular bass trip so please email if you are interested.

06/13-16/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeCabia had the Damien Romeo charter down at the South Jersey Shark Tournament this past weekend. The crew enjoyed some great shark fishing and more importantly a great time participating in the tournament. This tournament was once again put on with class and professionalism by the folks at South Jersey and we can’t wait to get back again for the Tuna Tournament. On Friday, the Canyon Runner ran 45 miles due east setting up in beautiful blue/green but crystal clear water. It did not take long until the first bite and the first mako of the year for us. The day saw 3 makos to 130 pounds come to the boat plus 4 brown sharks. The hot bait of the day were skipjack fillets down 10 feet but a good deal away from the boat. On Saturday, I came down to join the boys and shut the fishing right down. We went back to the same numbers and the water still look good but the fishing was not nearly as exciting. It took until 1pm to get a bite and it turned out to be a 100 pound dusky. Nothing else touched the baits the rest of the day. Congratulations to all the winners. Capt. Phil and mate Ryan DiBaggio ran home Saturday night after dropping off the charter in Cape May and made it to Manasquan at 11pm. A quick clean-up, long nap, and they were back out on the Striper grounds with the Dan Cranine charter at 5am. They had bunker right in front of Manasquan Inlet, loaded the bait boxes and ran up the beach towards deal. Live and fresh dead bunker produced 9 bass from 20 to 37 pounds. On Monday, Capt. Dulanie and mate Peter Doran had the John Manerafina charter out and again found the bait right in front of the inlet. Quickly loading the bait boxes they were up on grounds by 7am and in on action all day. They finished up with 17 bass with the smallest around 18 pounds and most over 25 with fish up to 35 pounds.

05/23/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Well I finally got a chance to fish our new 32’ Regulator and all I can say is I was very impressed. I left the dock at 5am on Friday, May 24 with Ken Avon and Mike Zajac in a stiff Northwest wind blowing 15-20 with gusts to 25. We had sea bass for dinner on our minds so despite considering staying close to shore and striper fish we headed south about 14 miles to look for some pieces about 6 miles off the beach. At 38knots in a following sea it was an amazingly quick ride and gave us time to look around a bunch and drop in on a few pieces without killing too much time. We did not find what we wanted so we made the call to run back north and despite the gust to 25 knots and 2-4 foot chop we ran 32 knots thru it and she rode better than our 48’ Viking – I was shocked. Finally locating a better concentration of fish the three of us picked away with a limit of 75 sea bass to 3 pounds to show for it and releasing another 100. We also added a 24” cod. Everyting was caught in 55 feet of water on clams.

05/22/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Capt. Phil Dulanie has been busy with both charters and pre-season prep for the canyon season on the 48’ but hopefully it can be just fishing going forward. He did get trips in Thursday and Friday last week for the Rich Alverado charter on Thursday and the Ed Kazar charter on Friday. Thursday trip was one to forget. Having nailed 20 stripers the day before to the north we unfortunately chased reports in the morning and headed south off of Sea Side. Trolling all day on readings produced not a touch for the bass and only a couple bluefish for a disappointed charter. But Rich will be back this week so hopefully we can redeem ourselves. On Friday Capt. Phil headed back up to the north and found the bass again on the Shrewsbury Rocks. He looked for bunker on his way up not finding too much to fish on so he dropped the rigs in and immediately has fish. White and chartreuse shad were the hot lure of the day trolled on wire and they finished the day with 9 bass.

05/21/08 Adam LaRosa reports: Captain Phil Dulanie and mates Peter Doran and Ryan Dibagio had out the Joe Miller charter for Wednesday for our first bass trip of the season. After a long winter putting up posts of boat shows, seminars, and building boats I am happy to start with our reports. The same can be said for Capt. Dulanie as he was all smiles as he broke Manasquant Inlet and headed north on the 48' Canyon Runner looking for bunker and hopefully bass under them. Unfortunately nothing showed up and they ended up on the troll at the Shrewsbury Rocks. They picked away all day on shad rigs putting a total of 20 bass in the boat with 9 keepers. They also had a few blues. More importantly we were back on the water for what will hope to be another great season.

K-KAT
Charter Boat

05/20/08
Captain Ken Dubman Reports:
After clamming for the past few days with mixed results, we switched back to bunker fishing today with the Ted Metzger party from Pike County outfitters in Northeast PA. Fishing was good, we fell one fish shy of bonus tagging the boat out, 11 keepers from 15 to 22 pounds for 4 guys, plus gator bluefish. Needless to say, I was very happy to see this kind of fishing, it's what we've been missing for the past couple of weeks. Hopefully, it will hold up & just get better from here.
