Bait or Lure: Plugs
Water Depth: 65-80'
Water Temp.: 52
Information : Fished from 6 miles off the inlet to Barnegat Ridge. The ridge was dead, the mackerel moved out, we were hoping the blues would have been right behind them but they weren't. Not a bad day all in all- 1 striper and 4 blues. Should have stayed in the 6-7 mile range all day. With the warm weather the tuna should be right around the corner!

Angler Name : M. Moscufo
E-Mail : michael.moscufo@pseg.com
Boat Name: Mary M III
Date Fished: 4/29/01
Location: Barnegat Light
Fishing Method: Jigging
Specie: Atlantic Mackerel
Size:
Bait or Lure:
Water Depth:
Water Temp.: 47
Information : Cleared Barnegat Inlet by 6:45 AM with 4 - 6' rollers and plenty of wind. It appears the marine forecast of light and variable, did not arrive until late morning. The northeast wind form Saturday must have chased the mackerel very far to the north by Sunday AM. Our boat ran 20-25 miles to the northeast, only finding a few spotty locations, without success. Only 1 other Barnegat party boat ran 40 miles to only find a handful of fish for a full boat load of anglers. Our boat experienced some sick anglers throughout the day, but a very pleasant day once the wind died down to a variable blow. We stopped on several wrecks for a handful of blackfish before returning to the dock. Patrick was well prepared and held up like a real trooper w/o getting sick. I'll make sure he is included next time to wet his line. Great Captain and Mate and look forward to a summer fluke trip.

Location: Ocean Side Sandy hook
Fishing Method: drift
Specie: Winter Flounder
Size: 13" +
Bait or Lure: clam/worm
Water Depth:
Water Temp.:
Information : Another great day on the Atlantic Star out of AH. 45 minute trip to where the flounder were waiting for us on the ocean side of the hook. Parttime fishing, my 15 year old daughter boated 4 keepers, one short, one huge crab. I landed 7 keepers plus one sundial. Guy to my left and kid to my daughter's right were snookered on boat rods. Experience and sensitive rods make the difference. Captain and crew were terrific. Only problem is that an hour and a half of travel on a 4 and a half hour half day trip does not leave enough fishing time. Tight lines, Dave

Water Depth: 80-200FT

I JUST HAD TO GO AFTER THE MARINE FORECAST CALLED FOR SEAS OF 2 FT OR LESS. AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. WE LEFT SHARK RIVER INLET IN STEADY 4'SEAS WITH OCCASSIONAL 6' FROM THE STIFF NORTHEAST WIND. BY 1130 AM I WAS 21 MILES ( NOT A TYPO) NORTHEAST OF SHARK RIVER AND HAD 1 MACKEREL( NOT A TYPO) TO MY NAME. ALL OF THIS IN SPITE OF MY FISHING PARTNER WHO CHUMMED HEAVILY AT REGULAR INTERVALS.ALL IN ALL IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE AS THE BOAT RAN WELL AND I HAD A NICE BLUEFISH RIGHT TO THE SIDE OF THE BOAT BEFORE HE CHEWED THROUGH MY MACKEREL RIG. HOPE THE FISHING AND WEATHER GET BETTER.

E-Mail : Skolmann@aol.com
Boat Name: Capt John
Date Fished: 4-22-01
Location: Romer Shoals & Vicinity
Fishing Method: Anchor-Chum
Specie: Winter Flounder
Size: 13 Inchs
Bait or Lure: Sandworms,Clam Strips
Water Depth: 8-20 Feet
Water Temp.: 50
Information : Perfect day weather wise, not so fishing wise.Best described as a pick. First few drops on Romer Shoal yielded a few keepers.Next few drops of the nude beach produced more rock crabs and sun dials than flounders. I took 2 skates, a bunch of crabs and a triple header horsecrab here. Our last stop was off Earle pier, where we seemed to have the best bite of the day in the first 20 minutes. Here is where I took my only keeper, although it came off the chum pot.High hook had 5. Its my belief that whatever flounder run there was in the Raritan Bay area is just about over with.

I have been using ground up clam with marginal success. Even when I chum heavy I only do fair. I tried using sand worms, blood worms, and clam for bait. The rigs I use are plain with a bottom hook and another hook about 12 inches up. See you out there

Water Temp.: ???
Information : After 2 years of horrible flounder fishing, decided to celebrate my upcoming birthday with a morning trip on the Sea Tiger. Surprisingly, 20 hearty souls made the trip. Most of the Highland fleat stayed together and action was a pick all morning. Ed (our mate) estimated that the boat had about 50 - 60 fish by the end of a nasty morning. I had 6 and just got edged out of the pool. My friends Rob and Slick were to my right and left and got scunked. The guy to their right had 8 and the guy to our left had 4. The bay was really churning up on the way back which probably won't make for a great day today. Once again a nice job done by Capt. Hal and Mate Ed.

Fishing Method: bottom

Bait or Lure: Clam
Water Depth: 90-100
Water Temp.: 43.7
Information : First day our for Captain Robbins. 55 othe crazy people had the fever. Rough day! Seas were atleast 6-8 feet with a strong NE wind of 20+ knots. Took us 2hours and fifteen minutes to get to the first spot in about 90 feet. Of the 55 people, maybee half were fishin by days end and a good dozen or so never even wet line. I had a great day and ended up with a hard earned limmit to 5lbs - no slobs for me. All on clams - the snooter the better. Also had 4 throwbacks. Think I had high hook. I still don't understand why people would come out in early April not dressed properly, with no idea how to catch blackfish, and with no stomach for a strong NE breeze. Oh well, lots of rail space and laughs for me. As always. Capt. Mike did an excellent job (Despite horible conditions) and My good mate Jeff was on top of it as usual! For those of you who are considering black fishing - they do not bite like seabass and are very tricky to catch - let um eat it! Can't wait for my next trip with Capt. Robbins!
